Bahamas - Fariba Amani, 47, missing from cruise ship, 29 Feb 2012

OK there were cameras. The FBI has reviewed them? let her family view them!!!
They know her best! How she might wear her hair... what garments she owns etc.
How can they be 100% sure they didn't miss this poor woman somehow???

I bet the Wal Mart parking lot down the street from me has more cameras aimed on the parking lot than most cruise ships have aimed overboard!
The full moon was 3/08 so I guess it was not a bright night...

Thunderstorm (Tue, 28 Feb 2012 01:52:23 -0500) :(
Partly Cloudy (Wed, 29 Feb 2012 01:52:32 -0500) http://twitter.com/#!/Bahamas_Weather
Looks like it stormed Tuesday night. Was she EVER seen on camera 2/28/2012?
Did she speak to family? Did she even make it TO the Bahamas???

I wish we knew where on the ship the cameras are. Like, is there one at the entrance where the passengers swipe their cards and board? In the restaurant(s)? Gift shop? Casino? Regardless, it's troubling that they didn't see her on video.

So what happens now in this type of case...nothing? If there is no proof of the boyfriend or anyone else putting her overboard, that's the end of it??

I don't know what happens
All I can say is someone on that ship must have seen them and can narrow down a timeline

AFAIK, he has not even been named a person of interest as of yet

"U.S. travelers do not need to present passports when embarking on a closed-loop cruise, which is one that both begins and ends at U.S. ports. If your cruise to the Bahamas starts in Miami and ends in New York, you can leave your passport at home."

Yes but these were Canadians, at least one or possibly both of Persian decent, who would most likely have had to use their passports for at least getting on and getting off the ship. Did they need to use them in the Bahamas? Because I believe it was stated that her passport was found with her belongings?

They would not get from Canada to the US without using a passport

That seems to be the status quo for people who disappear from cruise ships and no one sees anything cluciano63 :(

Lots of suspicion and innuendo but no arrests. I wonder if he knew that before booking this short cruise and whether the cruise was booked sometime after she had gone to visit the PI. Something tells me that he may have known about that.

I would still not rule out a third party, we do not know where she walked if she did go off on her own. That is why the lack of cameras is so important .JMO

They would not need their passports because they left from a US port and were returning to a US port. My mother did not need one when we cruised to Mexico. Your card is enough to get you back on the ship. However, should you get sick, have an accident and be taken to the hospital you better have your passport on you, or at least have someone who can retrieve it from the ship because you can't leave the Bahamas or any port-of-call without it once that ship sails. When you cruise you should always bring your passport with you on your trip just in case of an emergency. jmo

Well the FBI needs to get busy and find out when the last time she WAS SEEN on camera! I HOPE it was LEAVING the ship in the Bahamas!

If you have an enhanced drivers license you can(though not by plane) and I can't imagine thye drove to Miami from BC. lol

I know when we were on a cruise, when getting on/off we didn't have to do anything with passports, just our Cruise ID card(which was thoroughly checked) We had to do customs on the way onboard the first time, and when we got back off at our final destination(same port we left out of).

So even as Canadians we never showed our passports other than during customs onboard on the final day. This was JUST post 9/11(Jan/feb of 2002)

If you leave from a US port and arrive back at a US port by ship you don't have to show your passport. If you board an international flight out of the US you must show your passport. When I leave for Aruba I must show my passport to the gate attendant before I board that flight to Aruba. In Aruba the US Customs port of entry is in Aruba and you must present your passport there. Once you are through US customs in Aruba you can put your passport away and you don't have to show it again boarding the plane to the US. jmo

Yes, to go into the US as a Canadian citizen, a passport is required if flying

Once aboard the ship, no further need to show a passport
I travelled through Europe and never took my passport off of the ship
