From heresay, she had made several calls to HPS regarding JD (threats, abuse, and a break-in) and lived with her brother until recently out of fear. Again, heresay. The calls were acted on but there was "no proof of anything". Again, here say.

I would like clarification on what custody arrangement they had (if any; I heard she would never leave her daughter alone with him) and to know how he got Holly to come by on Sunday. She told her family she was visiting "a friend" so either she was keeping it from them, or she didn't know she'd end up at his place.

Such a senseless crime.

Yes, it seems as though whatever he did to Holly between Sunday and Wednesday, he did so knowing he had a court appearance Wednesday...and intended to show up.

I can't speak to this specific encounter, as I don't know them personally, but I can say that domestic violence is a vicious, manipulative cycle, and perpetrators say everything and anything to engage in contact with their partners or ex-partners. Gifts or money for the kids, flattering language, pity, sympathy, threats, extortion, the list goes on, and when you get there, it's never what it's supposed to be. It's a horrific way to live, and I'm so deeply sad for this young woman.

Many people close to Holly have said she would not leave her daughter for that long. I am wondering when her daughter was dropped off at her parent's house, was it Sunday? Or Monday? Or have those details not been released?

I believe JD killed Holly in the early hours of Monday morning either way. IMOO.

I believe their daughter was with the two of them. Then sadly, Holly was murdered. JD then dropped off their daughter with her grandparents, and went into clean up mode...
 
I have family living 5 minutes away from where Holly’s car was found. I went to see my parents on Sunday afternoon and drove by that area around 5:00 pm! So creepy in hindsight.

Let’s hope LE have enough evidence on this guy. Poor little girl, now to grow up without her mother. So sad.
 
CHCH released an interview with Holly's brother, who seems like a really great guy. Some key things from the below clip:
- JD broke into Holly's apartment in December and completely trashed the place (they show a pic of a glass dining table shattered).
- The day she disappeared, Holly texted her mom and said JD wouldn't stop calling her.
- JD dropped their daughter off on Sunday and the 4 year old told her grandparents "Mommy was choking in the shower and wouldn't wake up." :(

I really feel for Holly's loved ones. This is heartbreaking.

Thank you so very much for this. How tragic and deeply heartbreaking to the core. The photos of the break and enter gave me chills. Holly was living in fear.
 
CP24 Live, just reported that multiple stab wounds have been confirmed through Holly's autopsy. I didn't catch the exact classification of her cause of death (if it was mentioned), but will keep watching.
 
The day after Hamilton’s last sighting, Dumpfrey is captured on surveillance video attending businesses in the neighbourhood around his apartment — a basement unit on Barton at Fairfield Avenue near Strathearne Avenue.

Then sometime between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Dumpfrey allegedly drove his daughter to Hamilton’s parents’ home, with the young child knocking on the door alone. When someone answered, Dumpfrey allegedly sped off in a white car — police don’t know for sure if it was Hamilton’s 1996 white four-door Ford Escort, Oleniuk said.

They’re also working to clarify where Dumpfrey went after dropping off his daughter.

Dumpfrey was known to police, including for a 2016 conviction for assaulting Hamilton. For that he was sentenced to 90 days in jail and a probation order to keep the peace toward Hamilton. That order expired last month.

so sad for the beautiful woman's son. So sad to know what she went through with this guy - terrifying in the true sense of the word IMO.

Holly Hamilton's friends and family gasped, and some broke down in tears, as a judge declared a mistrial in the case of the ex-boyfriend charged with stabbing her to death.

As many as 50 supporters sat in Hamilton superior court Friday. It was supposed to be the first day in the second-degree murder trial of Justin Dumpfrey, who has pleaded not guilty. But the trial abruptly ended, and lawyers will meet Monday to set a new date.

Justice Paul Sweeny ordered a publication ban around the reasons for the mistrial. ​

The new jury trial will begin Sept. 4 and is set to last four weeks.

Dumpfrey is charged with second-degree murder in the January 2018 death of his ex-girlfriend Holly Hamilton. He has pleaded not guilty.


The 29-year-old's body, stabbed 17 times, was found in the trunk of her car days after she was reported missing. There was a documented history of domestic violence in the relationship.

Dumpfrey is the father of Hamilton's then four-year-old daughter, who was abruptly dropped off alone at her grandparent's house the day after Hamilton was last seen''.
