If the link works....it's Imes from yesterday.
I could understand if he would be promoting 'doubt' in their minds - saying, in essence, there's not that much direct evidence, you deliberated for 5 days, if you're not that sure, then don't vote death. But instead, he's boring the jury to tears rehashing the case. They are probably watching the clock, just waiting for this to end, so they can get in the room.
I don't think though that we'll get a quick decision, I think it will be at least a day, because they took 5 days to reach a verdict, and that tells me the foreperson is letting everyone have their say. This is a horrific decision to have to make, especially if you have any lingering doubt, and people want to talk through their emotions.
Does the prosecution get a rebuttal, or once he stops droning on, is it just jury instructions and off to the jury room?
Being in San Diego, I was very much interested in the disappearance of the McStays and tried to follow the trial but there was too much to wade through to get to the facts.
In good timing, the World Cup game is about to begin, so I'm going to watch that. Is there somewhere to sign up for a text alert when there's a verdict?
Thank you so much, Cricket for providing Imes closing. I haven't watch Doughtery yet.
I watched this video instead as I could not tolerate wasting my time with hearing the defense nonsense any longer. If I never have to hear either of them again, I know I will be much better off, and my BP wont rise either. Imo, they are beyond disgusting.
I thought Imes did a fantastic job. He comes across as a trustworthy..very caring, and kind gentleman seeking justice, and I like his calm demeanor throughout.
Seeing what CM reduced all four victims to is beyond heartbreaking. Its something I will never be able to forget.
We will never know what all they endured before each of their beautiful lives ended.
If CM killed little G & J.Jr. first ( which I believe happened to shut them up for crying hysterically) I believe both Joey, and Summer longed for death to come for in death they would only be able to find peace.
This truly is one of the most brutal mass murder cases I've ever followed.
I believe all of the jurors will believe Merritt is one of the very worst in our society, and will render the just verdict of death.
CM not only showed no mercy for any of them, but the way he chose to end their lives proves he deserves no mercy!
I also like the way Imes discussed lingering doubt, and who is really to blame for any unanswered questions that may remain. Imes is correct... it was Merritt himself.
imo
I am confused to why he is going over the case again?
He has been found guilty so why is he going over stuff that says he didn’t do this?
I assumed this would just be about his character not
about saying that there is zero proof and not a single piece of evidence.
That was masterful. He addressed the topic at hand (mitigation v aggravation) with the appropriate amount of emotions. He was clear, consice, and logical. This compares very well against the defense's rambling, whiny complaints.
So, judge has dental appointment this afternoon? If jury decides on penalty this afternoon, will judge come back to court I wonder? Or will we have to wait until next Tuesday to learn it?
Judge's dentist appt. was yesterday. Is he going again today?
I'm sure it (the decision not to have witnesses lining up to say what a charming child he was before he turned two) went against her advice, that's why they got his signature on the decision.I'm curious to know why the defense had a mitigation specialist sitting at their table everyday if they didn't even utilize her. Another taxpayer expense I'm sure.
MOO
No Chelly, I lost the will to speak since yesterday when the judge announced he had a dentist appointment that afternoon, after they had almost a whole week off just prior. I just about recovered when Maline started with his nonsense.OK..Thanks for clearing up the dental appointment thing.
I loved how Raj said there is no evidence that Chase did shoddy work or cheated any of his clients or cheated joey or stole money from him. That right there shows the jury what a liar Raj is. I think they will recognise it. JMO
Understand what you are saying @Tortoise . I've been watching trials since OJ....on court tv, on live stream and in person. I sometimes pop into our local district court to catch a homocide trial. Having said that, the McStay trial is beyond a doubt the oddest trial I have ever seen. Boggles the mind.No Chelly, I lost the will to speak since yesterday when the judge announced he had a dentist appointment that afternoon, after they had almost a whole week off just prior. Determining whether a man lives or dies is a huge decision. Something that will weigh heavily on every juror for the rest of THEIR lives.I am surprised there is not a verdict yet.
