OT...but somewhat related:

My 21 year old daughter just started working as a cosmetologist at a salon in a nearby city, just outside of Charlotte. Can you believe that the women there close up shop alone (they only leave one employee working during the last hour of the night)....the last worker must place the proceeds of the day's sales in her pocketbook....go outside and get in her car...must ride down to Wells Fargo (in the dark! and alone!) and get out of her vehicle.....go up to an outside overnight deposit box....use her bank key to unlock it and put the money bag in it...close it to allow the money to go into the chute...then open it back up to make sure the money went down....then reenter her car to go home.

Is this not the craziest thing you have ever heard?! Why do they not have a police escort? I don't want my daughter to do this...but she has to close tonight for the first time. I said, "You have two choices....you can call an officer to escort you or you can get your 6' 2" boyfriend to drive over and take you to the bank. You are NOT, under any circumstances, to walk out of there with that money alone." The scariest part is that this salon is visible to other stores and public places. Everyone knows that this what the salon does every night. How stupid!

Can anyone tell us where in Chelsea Park the kids hung around waiting for the "Group walk" or just Jessica meeting her friend. There must be a spot they waited at.

Also I don't recall hearing anything about Jessica "running late".

The friend said she never showed, so, IMO she had to have vanished before the park.

Was the friend the one who ran late ?

That is crazy!! I hope your daughter listens to you.

There has been so much confusion about whether Jessica was headed to the park or headed to the little boy's house that she wanted to walk with that morning. The boy's dad said he spoke with her by phone and that he and his son waited at home for her to arrive but when she didn't, he took his son to school in his car.

I really wish this one fact would be cleared up.

I guess I would be presumed as guilty for not complying to DNA swab.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about DNA dragnets. On one hand, I would want to help do anything I could to help LE. On the other, I know I'm innocent in the crime they are trying to solve and I have a hard time trusting that the swabs and data would all be destroyed. My brother and dad gave samples for the Derrick Todd Lee investigation because they had a white truck.

Doesn't Jessica's mother know of her plans to either walk to friends or walk to the Park?

Her boyfriend has assured me he will be there before closing to keep an eye on her. He said there was no way in heck he would let her go to the bank alone. She is tiny...about 100 pounds, maybe 5' 2". He's a muscular linebacker....I don't think he would be an easy target. Still, I'm a nervous wreck!

In her interview, it wasn't clear. Jessica normally walked to the park to meet friends but its been reported that, since it was snowing, she was walking to the boy's house to walk to school with him that morning...and apparently they waited for her to come to their house.

I don't know which report is true.

Is the boy who's house Jessica "may have" walked to on the map??

There was a case-I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the victim, but IIRC she was a young mother, who was stabbed to death in her home in front of her infant daughter. The baby was left alone in the home for hours, maybe even days, with her dead mother. LE ended up taking DNA from every single male in the town where the murder occurred. I can't remember if they ended up finding a match, but I believe they did.

ETA-SusyQ mentioned this case too, upthread...It was indeed a coastal town. I'm going crazy trying to find it now. It was one I followed pretty closely.

ot.
Christa Worthington? Murdered by Christopher McCowen? Massachusettes?
goodness just realized that case is 10 yrs old!! I can't beleive how many names and vicitms have gone thru my head over the yrs here. So sad.

Well, we have one map where one poster said it was located. There was some confusion at the time about where his house was...and also some confusion about whether we could show the map due to the fact that this is a minor's home.

I will have to check with a mod to see if we are allowed to show that map...

I will say this, the map I saw took Jessica passed the school and on out into another community. So it didn't seem to make sense to me that she would walk all the way out there (IF the map had the home correctly marked).

I think I just looked at that very map on page 1 of the first thread. Was it the map to Stratford park?

I can't recall, Really. Let me see if I can locate the one I am referring to....

I too remember seeing that the "friends" home was a far distance and saw that the park was somewhat in the middle of the two. I would say that it is not a good idea to post. jmo

IMO, it doesn't make sense on that snowy morning and freezing temps to walk to a friends house out of the way to get a ride or walk further on to school together if that was the case.

I would just like to know what area exactly she is missing from?:banghead:

She is missing from 107th and Moore (area of her home) per the official flyer the police have posted on their facebook page.

Morning, all - may today bring us one step closer to justice for Jessica! :rose:
