I would comply in this case. LE is supposed to destroy the DNA afterwards. I certainly understand your point of view. I would never want a national data base of everyones DNA. Too easy for some Tom Foolery to go on. Not to mention the civil rights violations involved. But I am glad they are taking every step they can to get the murderer.

Thank-you,very well stated. I have never dictated how others should excerise their 'free will'. As long,as they honor our bill of rights...i hold very strong beliefs about our constitution ...i am thankful for our freedoms and would resist any attempts to tamper or to delute it

I should add if LE asked me...heck, I would do the swab & deliver it to them myself,to save time. Nothing in my mind trumps LE catching this monster.

MOO

IMO, it doesn't make sense on that snowy morning and freezing temps to walk to a friends house out of the way to get a ride or walk further on to school together if that was the case.

That really depends, IMHO, on where you live and what you're used to.

Freezing temps don't phase kids who are from an area that regularly has freezing temps. If there's a little snow on the ground, kids are apt to want to be out to be the first ones to leave footprints in it, etc..

If a kid is feeling a little wimpy that day, it's a good excuse to beg a parent to take you, but if you're in an adventurous mood, it's a chance to put on those new snow boots for the first time.

So... I wouldn't read anything into her walking on a day where the weather wasn't ideal by 'adult standards.'

That is very true. First snow is always exciting for us in CO, too! (Well, it is for me) However ... I could also see that the cold weather might make it more likely that she would accept a ride from a friendly stranger, especially since the snow was likely kind of a mixture of rain and snow, not quite as fun as dry snow, since it makes you wet and cold.

Was it snowing. I thought it was raining and sleeting. That is a big differnece in my opinion. I understand what you are saying about snow, but rain. Yuk. jmo

BBM-- when I lived there we were out in ALL kinds of weather- regardless of the temp... and since they rarely called snow days we were used to it. So yeah I agree I wouldn't think much of it seeing her walking on a 'snowy day'... from what I understand it was a light snow and not substantial anyhow. (That 's just my recall, may be totally wrong-- can someone please correct me if it is!)

My feelings exactly. thanks.

That is what I was thinking Pinto, IMO it would be fun in the snow on the way home from school where you know there are dry clothes to change into.

But, IMO, why would she accept a ride when she had confirmed meeting with a friend ? Has this been established as fact that she was to meet her friend at the park?

I don't ever remember DNA being taken for this many people before (500). Does anyone know if this has been done previously?

(I mistyped "previously" at first, and one of the autocorrect suggestions I was given was "perviously"! I didn't even know that was a word! Although I suppose it really has to do with permeability, not being a perv.)

Colin Pitchfork was the first suspect identified through mass DNA collection

"After the world's first mass screening for DNA - where 5,000 men in three villages were asked to volunteer blood or saliva samples - Pitchfork was eventually caught and jailed in 1988."

the other case that is connected to Jessica's involved force (grabbing) and a chemically soaked rag. I do not believe she "accepted" a ride. I think she was either forced or lured.:twocents:

In her interview, it wasn't clear. Jessica normally walked to the park to meet friends but its been reported that, since it was snowing, she was walking to the boy's house to walk to school with him that morning...and apparently they waited for her to come to their house.

I don't know which report is true.

JR's mother says in her interview that JR usually walked with her friend J and his brother who went to the middle school. Does anyone know where the middle school is in relation to where JR went to school? tia

Being here reading all these things has made me more aware of my surroundings AND at times apparently suspicious... turned the corner at work today and the 'environmental specialist' (housekeeping) had a big, black, heavy duty, trash bag sitting in the hallway-- my first thought was "OMG who has he got in there????" :laughcry:

The middle school is about .75 a mile from the ES... past it... and past the reservoir...

Well I read Jessica spoke to the friends Father not the friend!

In the above linked newsreport (from yesterday) the police is saying:

Quote:
Police also warned that the killer is "still in the community."

Quote:
"We don't have the perpetrator identified," Materasso said. "He is still in the community and considering the heinous nature of Jessica's case, we have to be even more careful that we're not disclosing information that could hinder our ability to identify or apprehend the suspect."

If police don´t know the killers identity but DO know he is still in the area, IMO this means that; the killer is communicating with police in a way so they know he is still in the area, that could be Denver area postmark on a letterenvelope/postcard, phonecall they know was made in the Denver area etc.

Heck, I get excited about snow, and I'm 30! (But I guess you should not be surprised, because I'm a penguin with a human avatar lol.) Last year was my best Halloween ever - I had a party planned, but it was postponed because it snowed (less cool that it knocked out the power).

For Cluciano and other kitty lovers...I present these pictures :D ...

Her boyfriend has assured me he will be there before closing to keep an eye on her. He said there was no way in heck he would let her go to the bank alone. She is tiny...about 100 pounds, maybe 5' 2". He's a muscular linebacker....I don't think he would be an easy target. Still, I'm a nervous wreck!

did you catch any of the GPS/panic button products we were discussing yesterday? sounds like if she carried one of those would help you feel better.
