Comedian Louis CK: NY Times story breaking soon

Good. He admitted it. Keep admitting it, fellas. Now is not the time to deny and further chastise and humiliate your victims. (I'm looking at you, Charlie Sheen and Roy Moore).

Louis C.K., Accused of Sexual Misconduct, Says: ‘These Stories Are True’
by Erik Ortiz

Louis C.K. broke his silence Friday after five women came forward to accuse the comedian of sexual misconduct, admitting in a lengthy statement: "These stories are true."

"I have been remorseful of my actions. And I've tried to learn from them. And run from them," he said. "Now I'm aware of the extent of the impact of my actions."

He added that "the hardest regret to live with is what you've done to hurt someone else. And I can hardly wrap my head around the scope of hurt I brought on them."

He concluded that he will "now step back and take a long time to listen." ...

Would an expert--a psychologist or psychiatrist--please weigh in on this? I sincerely would like to understand what the motivation is, what the payoff is, etc. I kind of understand (THOUGH DON'T CONDONE) the payoff for pedophiliacs, rapists, cheaters, flashers, etc, but I have never heard of this kind of behavior--exposing yourself to people you KNOW and not wanting to do something sexual WITH them. This is a wealthy guy who could have hired discreet call girls or had actual sex with fans, groupies, other comedians, and other actors and celebrities (if not for his creepy reputation, of course). What is this all about?!

There is actually a good article about this very question.

I didn't see anything political whatsoever in this thread. Just someone referencing another pervert in a position of power. Hard to argue with facts.

LTR please. I wasn’t arguing with the facts. Smh.

What an idiot. Is it also a "predicament" for them when you ask to jerk off in front of them? Did you even ask? Does it make it better that you asked first? What planet are you from that it is ok to do that?

This guy is a dirtbag.

Nailed it.

I agree 100%.

"According to the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual (DSM-5), a clinical diagnosis of narcissism includes a “pervasive grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy.”

Typical disgusting behavior from PIPs (Perverts in Power)

Can we keep the not so thinly veiled political statements out of here? This thread is about Louis CK. There’s a political forum if you want to revisit the pussy grabbing

My response was to the comment about powerful guys. Perhaps that one as well as all others not referring to Louis should be addressed as well?

My response was to the comment about powerful guys. Perhaps that one as well as all others not referring to Louis should be addressed as well?

We have threads for just about every guy, but some of the talk is going to cross over I'm sure. What's applicable to one will undoubtedly be applicable to the others. Toxic masculinity ruins the party again. Etc.

"C.K.'s statement, released by his publicist, reads in full:

"I want to address the stories told to the*New York Times*by five women named Abby, Rebecca, Dana, Julia who felt able to name themselves and one who did not."

"These stories are true. At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my dick without asking first, which is also true. But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your dick isn't a question. It's a predicament for them. The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly.

"I have been remorseful of my actions. And I've tried to learn from them. And run from them. Now I'm aware of the extent of the impact of my actions. I learned yesterday the extent to which I left these women who admired me feeling badly about themselves and cautious around other men who would never have put them in that position.

"I also took advantage of the fact that I was widely admired in my and their community, which disabled them from sharing their story and brought hardship to them when they tried because people who look up to me didn't want to hear it. I didn't think that I was doing any of that because my position allowed me not to think about it.

"There is nothing about this that I forgive myself for. And I have to reconcile it with who I am. Which is nothing compared to the task I left them with.

"I wish I had reacted to their admiration of me by being a good example to them as a man and given them some guidance as a comedian, including because I admired their work.

"The hardest regret to live with is what you've done to hurt someone else. And I can hardly wrap my head around the scope of hurt I brought on them. I'd be remiss to exclude the hurt that I've brought on people who I work with and have worked with who's professional and personal lives have been impacted by all of this, including projects currently in production: the cast and crew of Better Things, Baskets, The Cops, One Mississippi, and I Love You Daddy. I deeply regret that this has brought negative attention to my manager Dave Becky who only tried to mediate a situation that I caused. I've brought anguish and hardship to the people at FX who have given me so much The Orchard who took a chance on my movie. and every other entity that has bet on me through the years.

"I've brought pain to my family, my friends, my children and their mother.

"I have spent my long and lucky career talking and saying anything I want. I will now step back and take a long time to listen.

"Thank you for reading."

And here's the improved version.

We edited Louis C.K.’s “apology” to make it a real apology

However, Louis C.K.’s “apology” devolves into an attempt to paint himself as suffering and worthy of sympathy.
...

What’s more, Louis C.K. does not mention his attempts to cover up his actions, nor his stubborn refusal to acknowledge the accusations that have been made several times before.

He does, however, make sure to note how “admired” he was, and is, both by the women he harassed, and the comedy industry at large. In fact, he repeats it four times in his statement.

We took it upon ourselves to edit Louis C.K.’s “apology” in order to make it a real apology. This is how we believe it should read:

Edited version at link.

Is this only about Louis? I am confused?

This thread is specifically about Louis, but in light of others being added to the mix in this thread, I might as well throw all the ‘perverts in power’ together [emoji4]
