The Walmart store manager did help, and her experience that night still haunts her today, according to a local news article:

The store manager said she was the first person that learned from RP that Cherish had been abducted. They locked the store down, searched, the manager lent RP her cell phone to call 911, pulled surveillance, fed RP's other two girls, then stayed with RP until police arrived.
From the video of Smith walking out with Cherish behind him, there's nothing apparent that would lead a stranger to think there was anything suspicious about her going out of the store with him - unfortunately most people would assume it was a child following a grandparent out of the store - not uncommon at all.
MOO, and I don't mean to sound bad, I just wanted folks to see the good things that were done that horrible night, too.
