Keeping everyone in Harvey's path in my thoughts.
Be well prepared, strong of spirit, and safe.

Love the Hurricane to-do list! Definitely could be applied to other scenarios. . . like when it snows in Texas!

Prayers, hope and positive thoughts going out to my fellow Texans in the storm surge of Harvey.
I am hoping it's nothing like what's predicted.. but we don't know for sure yet, do we?

Texas is such a huge state, most people don't realize how diverse our weather can be. I'm in the extended DFW Metroplex, which will likely have tornadoes and other high winds, with flooding in the usual low- lying areas.

Y'all are Texas Tough, you'll make it through with common sense and maybe some good booze for the nerves ( not too much though!) :)
I wish this wasn't happening, and I know you do also. Please stay safe, everyone.

Check in when you can!!

I will never ride out another hurricane. I lived through Camille, Betsy and Katrina. That is enough for me.

If you haven't evacuated - do. Living in the aftermath is horrific even if you don't flood or lose a roof.

I have a million tips on how to survive the after math successfully but won't share them here, my recommendation is to GET OUT of the path of the storm.

If you are staying, good luck and God Bless and protect you.

Thank you SeekingJana! Come visit our little Sparkling City by the Sea when we get over this. The first of the larger more organized bands seem to be coming ashore past the barrier islands right now - getting very squally and winds increasing. Latest info seems to suggest and slightly and I do mean slightly more northward trajectory with land fall now looking like north of Rockport on toward the Seadrift area. Less densely populated, but fewer resources at hand :-(

We're rocking' and rollin" - shout out to my electrical provider! Don't know how much longer that will last!

Obviously dont listen to me !A true cat 3 landfalling hurricane is around mid range 125 sustained winds .

Calling him a cat 3 at landfall for a system that hits wind gusts of 115 mph is not a cat 3 landfalling

sustained vs gusts is the deal moo

here is real live on scene -- dont listen to a word of these guys just linking for on scene video

they are crazy posted only for live video

anyone living there don't believe a word they are trying to get views

look at the title all I wanted is someone streaming

ignore em with h their narrative

I do think these are the ones that do a lot of god bless your or something but it was the first link that came back

no panic from anything they say they are streamers

WHOA AAA NELLY! I think we got a Cat 3 CARISS! Got real big just now !

125 MPH sustained, gusts to 155 MPH. Scary stuff.

CARIIS You were right when you said it - it's just escalated - big jump catching little electrical flutters! Were fine, but I may not have comms much longer!

Fine being wrong It is important that you all know that

The 125 is not sustained Brian Norcrss (acclaimed metrolist) he was the one did Andrew live for 18 in MIA hours they ended up having to go to the basement of the studio!!

just sharing

Here is NOrcross

The outer swirls of Harvey are hitting Huntsville, Texas now. That's about 50 miles south of me! Somebody just brought a weather person standing out on the beach in Galveston a 6-pack of Galveston beer! lol! The waves are HUGE. It looks rough!

Hijinx are silly things going on - someone gave the other weather channel guy like a meal deal dinner box - there's a few pics out there of the Selena statue (Tejano singer and native daughter here who was murdered so we have a statue of her on the bayfront) in a life jacket - got a few vids of kids cutting up being blown away by the storm but in the long shot its a leaf blower - lots of good humor and trying to cope with humor. It's blowing good right now but with that little northward turn we in my neck of the woods (northwest corpus christi / northwest nieces county) are faring relatively well.

well I actually just cooked dinner (inside, on appliances) but one of my bro in laws has his grill fired up and is cooking steaks in his garage (with the door open) we are very very very blowy - rain but not torrents. It will get worse but we are holding our own and as I said with the little north jog we may slide out of that "cone" of greatest concern ( we are just far enough south and just far enough inland)
