MOD NOTE:

I can’t count the posts I’ve removed from this thread or the number of violations for which they were removed.

Here are some things of note from our RULES of this site:

- Information stated as fact must be supported by a link to a mainstream media or law enforcement source (or other WS approved source) to substantiate the fact, otherwise the post will be removed, along with all responses to it. If the information is only your opinion, please make that clear in your post so that opinions do not become rumors attributed to Websleuths as the source.

- If you believe a fellow poster has violated the terms and conditions (rules) of this site, report them, don’t engage them on the public thread. If you simply don’t like the views or opinions of another poster, there is an option to “ignore” them. Utilize it.

- As far as I can tell, law enforcement is investigating this as a homicide. No person(s) of interest or suspect has been named and there has been no suggestion drugs were involved. It’s fine to speculate within reason, but there is no need to personalize or engage in general discussion of college life, etc.

- No suspect or POI means NO SUSPECT OR POI. Implying or insinuating the guilt of anyone at this point is off limits.

- When posting screenshots or discussing anything in general, you must provide an approved source link.

If you have a question, reach out to a Mod or Admin privately. We are happy to help. Thanks to those who help keep Websleuths amazing!

- Mad

ADMIN NOTE:

Members need to read the Opening Posts of each new thread. Admin has posted that the Idaho Tribune is NOT an approved source. Please pay attention to what Mods and Admins post.

All posts/responses based on a member linking to the non approved source are being removed.

MOD REMINDER:

ALL of us agreed to the rules when we signed up here. Please review the links in my signature if it's been awhile, or you are just joining us and haven't had a chance yet.

Here are a few of the key rules:

- Post only facts, and that must be linked to the source of those facts.
- If it can’t be linked, it can’t be posted. That includes any pictures.
- Approved links are from mainstream media (MSM) or law enforcement (LE) statements.
- The ONLY Facebook links permitted are those from MSM, LE, the victims, or the OFFICIAL "Justice for" page if there is one established.
- NO public comments from ANY source are allowed as they cannot be verified.

Posting that you are sure you read it but can't find it now, but you will in a minute? NOPE! Find the link first!

Posting asking if anybody else has heard or read that . . .? NOPE! You just introduced what may be a rumor onto the thread. We're all sleuthers here - find it and then you CAN post it.

PLEASE use the Report button at the bottom of any post if you come upon a post that is questionable regarding Websleuths’ TOS. Please DON'T respond to a violation of TOS as that just gives us more to clean up, and guys? We're BUSY over here!

Please post as responsibly as you would if these victims were YOUR loved ones!

Thanks,

Knitty

ADMIN NOTE:
There can be no generalized discussion about mental health/mental illness because it is too broad a subject that WS does not allow. Please so not engage in that line of posting. Please DO NOT ignore this instruction. Stick to the FACTS of this case. Going forward, please Report posts that do not stick to the facts of this

MOD NOTE:

Snipped from the Social Media rules in my signature:

ALLOWED SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES

Individuals
Victim (missing or murdered person)
Suspect (as officially named by LE)

  • Links may be used to direct members to posts made by a victim or a suspect.
  • Paraphrasing is okay, but direct quotes, copying/pasting, screenshots from these pages is not allowed.
  • NOTE: Comments and posts by Friends on these pages are not allowed to be linked, quoted, copied or referenced. They are considered rumor. Just don't mention them.
  • Do not link to a victim or suspect's social media page if you are not 100% certain it belongs to the correct individual.
  • If a social media page is set to private and you get in the back way, you may not post what you find. Private means private!
Social media of surviving roommates is OFF LIMITS!

Thanks for posting responsibly!

ETA: Bystanders in the food truck video may NOT be sleuthed or accused in any way unless & until LE indicates they are POI or suspect.

ADMIN NOTE:
There have been contradicting reports from MSM sources quoting LE statements today.

University of Idaho murders: police can't say if survivors are witnesses or suspects | Fox News

Published November 18, 2022 1:28pm EST by Rebecca Rosenberg
"These are people who may have seen the crime but on the flip side may have committed the crime," said Aaron Snell, communications director for the Idaho State Police. "We don’t know if they are witnesses, victims or suspects, so until we do a thorough investigation, naming them would be inappropriate."

Moscow Police clear surviving roommates and man in 'Twitch' video, dispel other online rumors in U of I murders - KXLY

Moscow Police released new information late Friday afternoon, which also included confirmation that the victims were likely asleep when they were attacked and stabbed to death.

Police say the coroner stated the victims were each stabbed multiple times; some of them had defensive wounds.

“At this time in the investigation, detectives do not believe the two surviving roommates or the male in the Grub Truck surveillance video are involved in this crime,” police said in the release. Additionally, online reports of the victims being tied and gagged are not accurate. The identity of the 911 caller has not been released", police said in the release. "Additionally, online reports of the victims being tied and gagged are not accurate. The identity of the 911 caller has not been released.”

What does that mean for discussion by members on this thread?
At this time, WS can allow discussion what is said in both reports.
PLEASE:
Don't use the names of the roommates.
Don't bash the roommates in any way.
Don't bash the sources since both are approved MSM.
Don't bicker with other members about their opinions or why they are giving more weight to one report over another.

This is a very fluid situation, and the rules may change as we learn more.
Thank you for helping us navigate the discussion of this difficult case on our forum.

Entrance?
My front door has a code to enter. Rental properties often have such door locks as you can reset them, cheaper than changing locks between renters.
That would imply it was someone they knew- if they entered the front door using the code.

Also Sliding patio doors are not terribly secure, we always kept a wooden stick in the track.
If the dog was found outside, they could have been interrupted while letting the dog out when they returned home?

If it is an obvious connected perp it has been long enough, they should Be focusing in on them. In my opinion this may be crime of opportunity, unrelated or unknown to them

IMO That sounds like the two girls heard something and were calling for help? To call this “J”that many times for each of their phones. Jack must have not answered?
Why did they not call 911?
Prayers for the families and friends for the pain of this horrific tragedy

From Thread #3

Of the four University of Idaho students who were found stabbed to death in a rental house last Sunday, some were killed in their beds, the Latah County coroner told CBS News Friday.

Coroner Cathy Mabbutt would not provide any further details. She noted, however, that earlier media reports stating all four victims had been murdered in their beds were not accurate.

I was trying to find where they said only some of the people were killed in their beds. I knew I had read that somewhere! Thank you!

To guess why , imho, scenario one could be like this…. once I thought someone was breaking into my house when my husband was out of town. I was young. I called him in Kansas first. I was scared. He said if you REALLY think someone’s breaking in why aren’t you calling 911? Good point. But I wasn’t positive and I didn’t want to call the police and make a fool of myself and bother them if nothing was amiss. So after speaking to husband I did call 911. Scenario two, in my youth when I came home after a few drinks I called my ex trying to make up and invite him over in a moment of alcohol induced romantic sentimentality that would often fade with the dawn. I imagine those calls could fit into either category possibly. Being scared and wanting him to come over or feeling affectionate and wanting to talk.
