Police are asking northeastern Indiana residents to search their properties for signs of a girl missing since last week, while her father's co-workers are hand-delivering fliers with information about her.
Police Chief Rusty York wants people to inspect their homes, outside buildings and properties, focusing on secluded areas where a 10-year-old might hide or be hidden. He also said the possibility of a kidnapper in the city is a concern.
"Instead of just us, we'd have more than 250,000 people looking," York said Wednesday.
Tevon Reed, operations manager at United's manufacturing plant, said employees began distributing fliers Tuesday. He said the company's truck drivers, who make deliveries in other parts of Indiana plus Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio, were given fliers as well.
Workers also were raising money to offer a reward to anyone who provides information leading to her discovery.
Detectives have been following up on all leads and tips. City detectives, with the help of FBI agents, have been questioning every known sex offender in the Fort Wayne area, York said.
Ground and aerial searches of Alejandra's neighborhood will continue through at least today. Investigators will then consider their next step.
