But in the past 30 days, Fairfield police have received a new tip from a “validated source” that is worthy of follow up, the chief said.

“There’s good sourcing to it,” Dickey said of the new information. “We just don’t know yet if it will pan out.”

Search crews return to scene where Katelyn Markham's body was found

earch crews on Saturday were back on the scene where Katelyn Markham's remains were discovered last year.

Dave Markham, Katelyn's father, and 12 members from Equusearch were at the Cedar Grove, Ind. creek where the skeletal remains were found in April 2013. The search started at 8:30 a.m. and ended at dusk.

They have a lot of yellow tape around the trees. The site was cleaned up, no junk left at all.
They are digging in the dirt.

The ring, maybe?

I hope they're looking for any possible evidence, hair, fiber, dna, that may have been left there..and I hope they find something.

Have they confirmed it yet? They mentioned it on Fox News but I completely missed if it was confirmed or not.

No official confirmation that I could locate.

It may be just me but I would've thought that the entire area where Katelyn was found would have been searched very thoroughly. The news of additional bones, perhaps hers (every article I've read has said they were but nothing official), near where she was located, is a bit disheartening to me and gives me pause regarding the investigation into her disappearance and death. I'm not disparaging LE, just concerned as to how this happened.

Katelyn, you are not forgotten beautiful girl!
 
I haven't found anything either. There was a young woman murdered in Florida and they found the remains and removed them. A few months later more bones were found in the same spot that turned out to be hers as well and the thought was the murderer kept moving bones to this spot to torture her family.

After reading about the recent findings, I went looking back over reports from the original discovery...I either missed this bit or blocked it out :eek:
