Silas probably knows George was personally involved in the purchase and discussed the reason Wags were buying it.
Silas probably knows that George put up cash for the purchase but this doesn't in any way prove that he, George knew the reason for the purchase. Didn't Billy say Silas was short of money and this was a way to help him out of a hole (not necessarily in those words)

Most likely it will wrap up before the Christmas holiday season, depending on how long the jury deliberates. Sentencing hearing might not be scheduled until next year.
Amazing isn't it? Did you ever think this trial would become so complicated?
I didn't.

But remember JW was in the car too. Would she just tell one of them? She didn't bring back a lot of stuff back to the car. Would the kids have asked what she bought? Here JW... some new shoes for you and an extra pair for you to practice the murders in.
Sure he knew what the trip was for and what they bought.
didn't they go to that particular WalMart to avoid being seen by locals from their regular WalMart?

Defense asks for a full list of what has been admitted - all evidence going under lock and key. Prosecution will put together full typing list.

Sounds like the usual stall and delay tactics from the defense team. Too lazy to take their own notes or organize their files.
Remember when the state paid $10,000 to have a professional organize those evidence files for them?

But George may have been present or at least talked to Silas about the purchase. I'm not taking George's word that he knew nothing about any of it.

It was a shame Jake and George couldn't break themselves away from mommy and daddy dearest.
They both made very good monies but were saddled with having to support mom and dad and all their hobbies and losses. George being a truck driver AND a mechanic could've led a very comfortable lifestyle.
As parents we are to draw them a map of life to live on their own, not the main use of supporting us parents.
IMO li'l George is very angry. It just seeps out of him. It's everyone's and everything's fault that he didn't fulfill his wants and needs to get for him the life he wanted. He may be angriest at himself for not leaving to live on his own, earning his own living and not supporting his parents. I thought yesterday while watching him that...and don't be offended..but this murder may have been just like any other job or project his parents told him to do, just something to get out of the way and off his plate.

a waste of money! They are lazy and play for time.

Well, we may find out what if anything George said to Silas.

court is back in session. whoops no jury yet. they are again going over the detail that Dana's property not located in Pike county. Judge forgot they already settled this in pretrial hearing. Attorneys on both sides trying to remind him of this. It was already settled on the record.

Jmo the defense also had him testify he was a thief and committed fraud numerous times. He never stole when from anyone we know of that was present and would have been an opportunity to kill someone during those crimes. I don’t believe they linked theft to murder. Jmo
He's a habitual criminal. By his own statement, he has no respect for law enforcement. The lack of link from theft to murder didn't stop other Wagners from killing 8 people.

Pike Co. massacre trial continues. Jurors will be back at 1:00 this afternoon. Right now, prosecutors are continuing the process of submitting exhibits. It has taken days to do this. That’s why prosecution hasn’t officially rested even though defense has called witnesses.

Exhibits are marked with letters and numbers. They have as many as JJJJ. right now, they’ve gone through JJJ. so… progress

Prosecution finished process of submitting exhibits. They still have to officially rest their case and the defense typically asks for a judgement of acquittal. That may happen when the jury comes back.

The judge will likely deny that motion. Then, prosecutors are set to call George's Great Uncle Silas Wagner to the stand. He has opted out of letting us record his testimony. So, I will be inside taking notes for you.

WATCH: OH v. George Wagner IV - Day 46 - Arguments over exhibits. Jury in at 1 ET

Arguments over exhibits. One an exhibit about banking records. One of the exhibits had listed an account belonging to #GeorgeWagnerIV owning a bank account with his mother. It was actually Billy W. who is George Wagner III.

Special prosecutor Angie Canepa says banking records showed the Wagners functioned as a unit and did everything together. John P. Parker says if that's the standard, everyone in southeast Ohio would be indicted. He said it's common in that area

I think I'll be wearing fleece leggings and a wool turtleneck until April. It's too cold too early.

Silas (Uncle Toddy) Wagner will be called to the stand this afternoon. He sold Billy Wagner the black GMC Sierra truck that Jake said they drove the night of the murders. Yesterday, there was a dispute of sorts about George's role with the truck.

George said he loaned Billy the money for the truck, if I recall correctly. But Jake testified he bought the truck from Silas in the driveway of Peterson Rd. and that GW4 was with him. GW4 said he loaned Billy the money for the truck

Unfortunately, Silas Wagner is opting out. He was at the courthouse earlier in the trial to testify for the state.

The thing that keeps needling my mind is G4 saying he was BEST FRIENDS with Frankie yet didn't know anything going on in his life for over a year. Didn't know his kid's name. Really. And Why would one lie about being BEST FRIENDS with a murder victim? Why not just say he was an acquaintance?
Didn’t know Hanna Hazel either…

George insisted under cross his mother and brother lied during their testimony and confessions to prosecutors, prompting Canepa to sarcastically tell him: “Everybody is lying except you.”

She succeeded in getting several admissions from George including:

  • Using an inaccurate (former) address to obtain his Ohio commercial driver’s license;
  • Listing an inaccurate (former) address on forms related to his gun ownership, a federal offense punishable by up to 10 years in prison. He told her he was advised to do this because his driver’s license still listed his former address);
  • He responded “We paid off our debts with it” when she asked him about a purposely set fire (arson) at one of the Wagner’s former homes, on Bethel Hill Road in Peebles. At first, George told her he didn’t really profit from it (the insurance payout);
  • Not reporting his mother for creating fake receipts to turn in these bogus fire loss claims;
  • Hunting at night “thousands of times.” Deer hunting hours in Ohio are 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources;
  • Calling his toddler niece (Jake Wagner’s daughter Sophie) a “b----.” But, George explained on the stand: “After five or six days on caffeine, you say a lot of things you don’t mean.”;
  • Failing to notify the mother of his young child know they moved back to Pike County from Alaska in 2018 before the waiting period was up to get an abandonment ruling against her.

He is not on trial for any of this so exactly how is any of this pertinent to the murders he is charged with? These are not some huge admission of murder or anything else related to the case.

I think there is AUDIO.... There was no Video but they got AUDIO on them.... They did AW anyway as it was played in court. Why not play Georges?
Because BCI ryan turned off the recorder and they don't have any audio.

That is an interesting detail the defense might use in closing argument.

The state rests their case no further witnesses.

  • #817
Defense is resting, they have no more witnesses, but have some exhibits.

  • #818
No rebuttal witnesses

These have nothing to do with his case.

So now she's got his answers on the record. Wouldn't she now want to play it so the jury hears the lies? Why not NOW play it?
They don't have one, or they don't want to admit they failed to mirandize him.
