A few threads ago pufnstuf posted re Kyron's SM --- talking about what a devoted mom she really seems to be:

She is very active in Kyron's life, takes him to swimming lessons, participates as a room mother in his class, loves him as her own. Refers to him as her son.

No attempt by me to single out swimming group! There are probably a number of groups (like soccer, etc.) where Kyron met instructors, other students of various ages, as well as their parents. I'd be sure that LE has been checking out babysitters, coaches and instructors...

Why no scent trail?

Maybe he was carried.

OK - so if there really was a cool project with electricity - I bet the other kids were flocked around it.

If so - none of them must have seen Kyron there - as the last person to see him was his friend.

Either he did not make it to the project - or there was no such project.

I tend to think there was a project - and that he just did not make it there.

She taught for one year at Mooberry Elementary, Hillsboro, OR. She taught during the 2002-2003 school year.

(Love that school name, by the way.)

I think I read somewhere along the line that she volunteered at school, or was an assistant. I assume this would have been after she quit teaching .

That is a neat name; sounds like a kids' cereal.

Why is this a secret about why the teacher thought that Kyron was absent anyways? I mean seriously It would explain alot. If the teacher made a mistake and had absolutely no idea that he was missing dispite the back pack and coat hanging up, dispite the fact his project was displayed and he was so proud...I'd be shocked and horrified and highly doubt that anyone would or could miss Kyron being missing no matter how hetic of a day it was. Therefor I believe the teacher saw him, understood that the left with his mother and would be returning (thats why the stuff was still there)...Why this is a secret and they wont release it? I don't know.

LE explained that there are two reasons they're not releasing info.

- to avoid people's memories becoming influenced while they are interviewing the parents and students

- in case it turns into a criminal investigation, they will have information to use to determine veracity of info etc.

Kyron's classmate, said he last saw his friend at about the same time when Kyron told him he was headed to look at another student's science project.

"He walked by the hallway and I'm like, 'Hi, Kyron,' and he's like, 'Hi. I'm going to go see this cool one. It's electric.' I'm like, 'Alright, bye.' And that's the last time I saw him," Tanner said. "He never did make it back to class."

What time did he see him, did he have a watch and did he see Kyron's mom with him? I have trouble keeping track of time when i'm busy, I can imagion that kids do too. Also, this could have been earlier in the day just as it could of been after his mom left. I am just saying it is hard for me to make this a "fact" that he was seen after his mom left within the 15 minute time frame going to another project...possiable yeah. But not a fact.

Same here....and, again, we have no idea what the teacher was told, why she wasn't alarmed that Kyron wasn't there.

I wish LE would just give a quick tip of the cards so that we could at least figure that bit out. It's central, I think.

IMO, that's why they're not tipping their cards.

Has Kyron's birthmother been mentioned at all? Sorry if this has already been discussed...these threads are flying so there's no way I can go back to read everything. TIA

Totally quarterbacking here-but unless LE said to go ahead with this, I am confused as to why this baby is giving interviews and statements asking for his friend to come home and family isnt...and yes I get that LE is requesting family be quiet, but this makes me sad. JMVHO. Not bashing family-I am a huge fan of following le direction in a case like this.

On Saturday, at the presser, he said that LE wasn't stopping the family from speaking, but that they were too distraught to speak...

That's based on memory...just paraphrasing what he said.

Media can be very resourceful in cases like this, they ask one kid who Kyron's classmates were, then track them down and ask who Kyron's best friend was, then show up there at his house to ask questions. It was most likely the parents decision to allow the interview, and no one contacted LE for their opinion or permission.

The interview was so sad though, because the child just assumes that when Kyron is found he will just go right back to school with nothing to worry about except how to get home with all the stuff that has been left there at school for him.

Thank you for posting these links.who's science project was he going to see?where was it located?Maybe he met someone at the project?

I sure would like to know where any electricity projects were.

It's looking right now like he never made it to the project, or I would think we'd have another sighting at a few minutes after this one.

Indeed, I did say that on my first quick scan of her FB page. The second and third read, well, I spent more time following links, seeing that things that were said were self-conflictual (paraphrasing: "We don't even have a TV in our house!" when a month earlier there's a photo of the TV and the Wii), and I started to develop a different opinion, and that's all I can say and still be within the terms of service.

I wish I could share what it was that changed my opinion, but I'll not do that so as not to break rules.

Yes, she arrived the afternoon he went missing. She has released a statement also.

Just don't have a statement from SM and Dad yet.

I am a teacher and our attendance system is a computerized one. I teach high school, so attendance is done every hour by the teacher teaching the particular class. But for our elementary system they can mark a child absent all day. Most elementary kids don't go to art, music, or p.e. every day, so even if Kyron was supposed to have say p.e. at 2:30, the p.e. teacher would have seen that he was marked absent all day and would not be the least bit alarmed that he was not there.

As for multiple teachers in the room~ this is a very small school, so the likely hood of two full time teachers in a classroom is slim. There may, however, have been a teacher aide or even an ABA therapist if Kyron had any children with special needs in his class.

Just some food for thought!

BBM

A VERY small school. And for a school with grades K-8?

Staff

9 classroom teachers, educational resource teacher, PE specialist, music specialist, foreign language instruction provided by a Spanish enthusiast and library assistant.

I had to read that several times.

Ok, now this is speculating that indeed his jacket and backpack were left at the school... and that his teacher assumed he had an appointment that day.

I find it unusual that if his jacket was left at the school, not sure of the weather that day, but wouldn't someone (the teacher) think it strange that he left for an alleged appointment but that whoever he was leaving with wasn't concerned if he was cold or not since he was without his jacket? Yes, I know the weather could have been crisp in the morning and warmer during the day, but if he was not at school at 9:15 AM, one would assume his appointment was in the morning, when it was cool enough to have a jacket. And yes, I know kids are notorious for leaving their jackets at home/school. Just tossing things around here.

How about his lunch? Did he pack a lunch? Was it in the backpack? If I was a teacher and I wondered if a child was really gone off on an appointment that was presumably scheduled a bit after 9 am, but this child still wasn't back for a talent show hours later, I might check his backpack to see if a lunch was in there. A lunch would be a warning signal that the parent intended for the child to be back at school before lunch time after his appointment. And yes, I know, appointments can run later than anyone planned.

And finally, LE might be interested to know if a lunch was packed or not. There should be a lunch in his backpack. Of course if the school has a lunch program, then this is a moot point.

Maybe he was carried.

Yes --- maybe he was! Since there were so many windows, maybe he was carried in a playful way on a grown man's shoulders, both laughing, nothing looking strange to observers. Or... carried out in a container that didn't look suspicious at all --- a duffel, a large toolbox? If Kyron was taken at the SW door (with a paved path to the main road and the field right outside the door), then who would be able to pull right up there (or close to there) in a vehicle and not be noticed as unusual? Building and Grounds? Janitorial? A town vehicle? An official vehicle? Who would feel safe being observed from any of the wall of windows at the school????

Bean, I just read an article where a mother said that Kyron's homeroom was at the north end of the building. He was last sighted at the south end of the building, I think.

So many different things being said, hard to know what's right.

Yes, she traveled to Portland from her home several hours away the first night. It was HER sister who issued the first statement released by the family as a group.
