I'd hold off on any assumptions. There are some old burial grounds in Phila. Most of North Philadelphia was farmland 150 years ago.

It's extremely disturbing to me that the news mentioned her name earlier this week without having any real idea the body was hers. I haven't stopped looking.

Kevin Ryan, a private investigator hired by Amanda’s father, John De Guio, says, “Right now we believe Amanda does not want to be found. We want to find her. We know she was alive at the end of summer because people we interviewed in Kensington said she knew there was a warrant for her arrest before that was made public.”

A Sad Ending For Someone's Family.

They may have identified him: http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20160107_Workers_find_skeleton_in_Kensington_lot.html

The idea that a body found is Kensington is anyone specific right off the bat would be foolish. Drugs have quite a grip on that neighborhood.

I was only bringing the info here on the chance it was her, I didn't state it was or wasn't. I get that the neighborhood has drug issues but if it's an area where she was last seen and/or has been known to frequent why is it foolish to pay attention to remains found there? Generally a body is specifically one person.

Two years later, no clues in Upper Darby mom's disappearance

http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20160615_Two_years_later__no_clues_in_Upper_Darby_mom_s_disappearance.html

It's been almost exactly two years since De Guio, then 24, walked out of her mother's Upper Darby Township apartment and never came back.

Some authorities and members of De Guio's family have reason to think she may be alive. Police say they have continued to receive tips, including a call about a potential sighting as recently as three weeks ago.

But there's been no activity on her credit cards, her email, or her social media accounts. She's without the purse she normally carried - leaving behind her wallet. No evidence of forced entry was found at her mother's apartment, where she lived with her daughters.

She has not, according to police, reached out to friends or family.

"She's an anomaly, that's the only way to describe it," said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood Sr., whose force led the investigation. She remains, he said, the only unsolved missing-persons case since he took over the force in 2005.

I'm originally from Upper Darby and have lived in upper Montgomery County, PA, for 15 years. However, I have many friends and relatives in Delco and am friends with people who were friends with Amanda.

Has anyone taken a walk around the Conrail yards in Philly? I know there have been sightings in K&A, but there are a lot of junkies who live in a tent city at the Conrail yards--worth looking into. I think the city has been trying to clean it up and their efforts have flushed those people into the surrounding neighborhoods. The Inquirer did a series of articles about the yards earlier this year, too. If someone I knew had a heroin problem and disappeared for a while, I'd be looking there too, along with K&A, especially inside abandoned houses in that area.

EDITED: I should have done this before posting, but it appears that Conrail and the city have basically cleaned up the yards within the past month or two.

No matter how cute her kids are, when addicts are using, it doesn't matter. They can't think of anything other than the drugs. It's very sad. :(

Bumping for Amanda and her family...

I grew up in Delco and I've been following her missing page on FB. I tear up reading some of her sister's posts...that family has gone through hell, I really hope they don't have to spend anymore holidays without her.

In the months following her disappearance myself as well as members of her family, and other friends, spent quite a bit of time physically looking for her in Kensington. I maintain a relationship with a pastor that works with addicts down there and check in with him from time to time. As a life long Philly resident I can assure you that spending twelve hours on foot in K&A will change your whole perspective on drugs, poverty, and life in general.

Almost everyone there is happy to talk to you, if they are coherent, they might even claim to know her or have seen her if you show a picture, but it’s not because they care or are helpful, inevitably, it’s because they want something from you. I was always careful never to dole out more than a few dollars to someone to juice some info, as I knew where the money was going. I’ve literally camped and surveilled houses it was suggested she stayed at overnight. I’ve camped the area where all the addicts get fed by charity through all three meals served in a day several times to no avail, and the former Conrail yards, though they are mostly gone now. I cannot count easily the number of abandoned buildings and homeless encampments I’ve explored looking for her. Perhaps the most disturbing part of my search was the hours spent on BackPage looking at prostitute adds trying to see if she’d pop up there. Admittedly, aside from checking in with the Pastor, I gave up on physically looking for her after about a year of her being gone, because I don’t believe she’s in Kensington.

Admittedly, I don’t have a clue where she is, nor any sort of good theory to go on... However, to share with you all my thoughts.
A, She left all her money. If she ran away to do drugs this makes absolutely zero sense.
B, She didn’t bring a single possession with her, so far as anybody knows.
C, Despite her history with drugs, she was in a period of at the very least, relative sobriety in the time period leading up to her disappearing.
D, Not one of the sightings of her in K&A came from a remotely reliable (or sober) source. Money was/is in the air as a reward if she was found, and even ten dollars goes a long way when you’re on drugs in that neighborhood, imagine what one of those people would have done with thousands if they had got it?
E, Despite all her history she was NEVER out of contact for more than a few days. I know what heroin does to people, she’s not the only friend of mine to go down that road and not come back. I’m thirty and by twenty five I’d buried several close friends to overdoses.
Point being, I don’t look at this through rosy glasses, but I still don’t believe she willingly fell off the face of the earth.

In conclusion. My theory is that someone physically took her the night she disappeared. I don’t know who, or why, or what happened after that. But I don’t believe she ran off to do drugs in K&A. I have no physical evidence to support this theory, but would like to point out, there’s no evidence to the contrary, nor is there any evidence she did run off to do drugs.

Thank you all for caring, I promise you she’s worth it. In her worst of times full of kindness, compassion, always a smile. Truly a kind soul, I am not saying this to try and make her seem better. Her family are strong and amazing people, who need answers on this. Rarely a day goes by I don’t think of my old friend and say a prayer for her.

Thank you again,
O

Police renew effort to find missing Drexel Hill woman Amanda De Guio

DREXEL HILL, Pa. (WPVI) -- The family of a missing woman from Delaware County has issued a new plea for help as police announce a new approach to the case.

Amanda De Guio, who would now be 28 years old, was last seen on June 3, 2014. She walked out of her mother's home in Drexel Hill and left all of her belongings and her two small children behind.

Police say she became addicted to painkillers after a medical procedure, and later turned to heroin. Police now believe she was the victim of foul play.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said the department has essentially reopened the case, saying this no longer appears to be a missing person case. He said investigators now believe they have to find a body.

[...]

She has a number of tattoos, including lips on her right buttocks, an Italian boot and "Tommy" on right torso area, "MF" inside lower lip, and "SC" on the left ring finger.

She is described as 5'2" tall and weighing 120 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. She has a diagonal surgical scar on her upper and lower abdomen. She is known to frequently wear wigs and large jewelry.

According to police, De Guio was possibly involved in prostitution and posted on sites such as Backpage.com using the names of "Gianna," "Arianna," or "Crystal."

There is a $5,000 reward for any information that would lead to finding De Guio, and to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
