TBH I am not sure --- I see you can select from what seems like at least 4 camera locations from the drop down menu (top middle)....and below the camera view you can use that slide to move the camera....sorry i'm not that much help....I have no clue about past images but somewhere they said they had footage of him I will look for the link.
 
It's here....ETA: i see now the Welcome Centre isn't the same place as the Visitor Centre...The live webcams (linked above) are at the Vistor Centre downtown.

Oien’s friends did a welfare check of his hotel room Jan. 14. The check revealed that Oien had not slept in his Bullock Hotel room Sunday.

Christopher recently moved to Spearfish from Gillette, Wyo., and his mother said this is highly unusual behavior for her son.

I can read a map just fine....but on a creative level, me and google maps aren't very good friends.

There are several other locations reported before this (jumping off the roof at the Gulch Saloon & then emptying his room at the Bullock) and after (Burnham ave, cadillac jacks, silverado, iirc, etc...)....TBA not positive of the order there are maybe a half dozen locations mentioned including a cell phone tower...)

Anyways, just rambling over coffee...

...The “hot spot” area that continues to be searched is the last area from which 28-year-old Christopher Oien’s cell phone last pinged.

It encompasses an area that extends from the Days of ’76 Rodeo Grounds across the street to the brown rocks area to the top of Burnham Avenue to Starr Street and Spring Creek Street and down.

This area has been combed by law enforcement conducting drone searches, a grid search, two teams of cadaver dogs, a canine unit, and other agencies involved in the search. A swift water rescue team also failed to locate Oien during a search of the box culvert that runs from Railroad Street through Deadwood.

The last time Oien was seen in town was on videotape Jan. 15 around 1:44 a.m., after he gathered his belongings from the hotel he checked into for a Sunday stay-over and left.

Footage of Oien was captured on a Deadwood Welcome Center parking lot camera making his way through the parking lot on the opposite side of the street from the former Four Aces and making his way up Volin Street, up toward Williams Street.

Maybe Chistopher ran up into the hills to hide from someone but died for exposure.
This is a small town someone should know something about his disappearance.
 
I live about 3 miles from Deadwood.

This troubles me immensely. I can't understand how he was able to get on a casino rooftop, especially at near closing when people are getting kicked out for closing time, without multiple people being alarmed and watching him, or helping him! There are several taxi's out then.

But why would he run away from the busy area to a dark quiet street, and the same street where a woman was found 3 years ago?

And what are the chances he was seen running (possibly being chased??) towards the intersection where Kristin's body was found??? I'm curious, could he have known her????

I read on the Deadwood FB page that his missing posters were removed during mardi gras -- a post under that one says they aren't telling all the facts :thinking:

I am wondering what the circumstances are that brought him to Deadwood in the fist place and why he borrowed a friend's car but didn't bring the friend. Was this a normal place for him to go? Was he meeting someone?
There is a creek around there but not much water in terms of lakes or ponds or rivers - only a huge amount of wilderness, canyons and mountain lions.

The two cell towers I could dig up are Verizon, which is right above Seth Bullock's grave, and an ATT one northeast of town. Chris disappeared within a half mile of both, but I assume the radius they searched was centered around where he went missing based on the description in this article

What you don't see on this map is the car, which was found right across the street from the casino, and the welcome center camera, which is directly across the street from the volin street dot.

What I don't get is why they searched the area around the Visitor's center initially, and where or what piece of clothing they found. It makes a big difference if it was his hat versus a shoe.
My other questions have to do with the Saloon. Is there any video of him being inside? How did he get on the roof?
There is an OMG presence in SD in this area, I really don't think foul play should be ruled out considering he went to a casino, checked out in a hurry, was seen jumping off a roof and running down the street and then disappeared.

...The vehicle Chris drove was recovered by the owner when Chris did not return and couldn’t be reached by phone. It was parked behind Oyster Bay.

...There have also been rumors that Chris had won money at one of the casinos he visited. That information has never been able to be verified. Each lead or tip must be followed up on, even if they lead to a dead end.

If my internal compass is correct, looking at the east side of the Deadwood Gulch Saloon there is what appears to be a fenced in area on the roof (at the back of the east side) FWIW...maybe it's a smoking area or...something??? (regardless, it does appear to be a 15 - 20' drop to the ground)

The body of a Spearfish man who had been missing since January has been found, according to the Deadwood Police Department.

The body of Christopher Oien, 28, of Spearfish, was found at approximately 6:15 p.m. Wednesday in a remote area southwest of The Lodge at Deadwood by someone searching for deer antlers, according to a news release issued Thursday by the Deadwood Police Department.

The release said an autopsy is pending.

This was so close to the town where I live about 45 min away. For the life of me I couldn’t have figured where he had gone. I’m glad he was found and hopefully with autopsy and scene information we can finally find out why it happened

Crazy - unless they did a radius search around the cingular tower (if his phone pinged at that one) it puts him just outside the search radius for the point last seen. There is a really steep hill with ravines facing south between The Lodge and where he disappeared. I don't feel confident in any one theory about what happened to him.
