GUILTY TX - Breonna Loftin, 4, tortured, beaten to death, Kountze, 17 Aug 2011 *arrests*

May all responsible parties rot in jail.

Not to detract from this child's tragedy -- but I have never seen a child so young (with baby teeth) with that sort of extreme dental work before. Can anyone tell me what that's about?

Ah, apologies - I see the issue of the metal caps has been discussed (idk how I missed that, was probably half asleep..) - bottle rot's a good call but I can't see evidence of rot in earlier pics... it just seems odd to me to metal-cap baby teeth. Not something that's done here a lot, so I'm just curious I guess.

And I too wonder that ---nobody--- made reports of this child's condition to police a long time prior to her death. Doctor's teacher, relatives, friends.. neigbours. Surely someone saw some evidence of this level of abuse?

The small kiddies next door scream a lot. A LOT. Don't think I have not checked them over for signs of abuse, evidence of beatings, etc. How can anyone hear children screaming and -not- want to make sure they are safe?

My neighbour's kids are fine, as far as I can tell, and scream at each other like banshees for fun in the yard...but what a ruckus! I don't feel bad or nosy at ALL for peeking over to make sure nothing bad was happening.

I will never understand how someone can know a child is being hurt and not do anything about it.
I swore I would never get involved again after it did no good when I tried.
Yet as soon as I heard a child screaming like they were being murdered... that all went out the window.

You just act on instinct. :waitasec:

Maybe the people who see a child locked in a trunk and ignore it...
Or see a child being beaten and ignore it... are just born without those instincts.

That's the only thing I can come up with.
Because even if I knew the child would be murdered anyway... I couldn't ignore the issue and not try to help.

I've never seen silver caps on such a young child. I'm guessing the mother's boyfriend knocked Breonna's teeth out, too. :(
I've seen it before...several times...in generational poverty families...and also in a child whose mom had severe mental health issues... No dental care...poor eating habits...bottles with pop/juice.

In the state that I live in (and have seen this)...the children are on medicaid. I assume that medicaid covers silver caps only...and not white.

I can't find any updates or news on Breonna's case.
Was reassured to see however that:
Amanda and Jason are BOTH IN CUSTODY at Hardin County Jail.

I was searching for updates on this case and found this article. It appears Jason Delacerda, Breonna's murderer, is set to go to trial on July 27, 2013. The article, which recaps upcoming trials for 2013 was posted in January of this year, but it was the only story I could find that had a trial date of any sort. I'll post more if I find any additional updates.

I want to stay vigilant as the trials of Delacerda and Breonna's mother (if you could call her that) proceed.

Thanks for posting, couldn't understand the racing link. Did find this that confirms a whole lot of nothing posted today.

Trial date reset for Hardin Co. man accused of beating child to death
By Ioanna Makris

The Hardin County capital murder case was reset last week. The Hardin County criminal deputy clerk did not know when the trial would be rescheduled.

The state plans to seek the death penalty against Delacerda.

Amanda Nichole Guidry, Breonna's mother, is set for trial on a capital murder charge later in the spring.

Oh my... I just read the affidavits linked above and all I can do is just shake my head.
This beautiful sweet girl deserved so much more in this life than what these 2 people gave to her.
It is beyond my way of thinking how someone could treat a child like this and that AG (sorry, I can't use the M word for her ) could just stand by and not do anything.

According to the article killing a 7 year old child the same way wouldn't be Capitol Murder?

The Hardin County grand jury has indicted a woman and her boyfriend on charges of Capital Murder in the death of her 4-year-old daughter, and the District Attorney says he'll seek the death penalty against the boyfriend, Jason Wade Delacerda, 34.

District Attorney David Sheffield told KFDM News he's reviewing evidence before deciding whether to seek the death penalty against Amanda Nicole Guidry, 30, the mother of Breonna Loftin.

Sheffield says no bond will be set for Guidry or Delacerda since the charges have been upgraded.

Sheffield says the evidence they have collected so far about 4-year-old Breonna Loftin's death is worthy of the death penalty.

"We're going to seek the death penalty in this case because justice for the sadistic torture and death of this child demands it," said Sheffield.

They both deserve the death penalty

I'm sorry I am not vocal on the "Spotlight on Children" thread, but I do what I can. I feel like I have let MANY children down.

My goal in life was to become a prosecutor for child murder/abuse. I know my shelf life would have been about 5 or so years (if I could handle it), but got pregnant at 36+ and am now raising my own DS. I have only 26 quarter units to complete my BA of SC in BA which should give me entrance into law school (I'll be in my upper 50's). My dear mom, who worked for the DA's office, said I will need a hefty bank account if I do become a prosecutor...cuz my contempt of court fines could be in the 1000"s....true story.

If I can't kill them, I wanna "kill" them.

Oh my, I apologize. I was working on some stock car racing press releases (I'm a freelance writer) and must have used that link by accident. I see you found some information that is more up-to-date, eventhough it doesn't seem to reference the July date I found. I'll keep checking over the next few weeks to see if we can keep this bumped.

I am trying to figure out what bio mom had to smile about in this picture?

We know what her defense will be-it is going to be the abuse excuse. She was afraid of him dont you see. I wonder if the DA is refusing to deal-these two defendants are crazy for rolling the dice with a trial by jury.

Still a whole lot of nothing on a trial date, except "later this year" and "later this spring."

Jason Wade Delacerda, who is accused in the 2011 beating death of his girlfriend's 4-year-old daughter, Breonna Nichole Loftin, will go to trial later this year.

The Hardin County capital murder case was reset last week. The Hardin County criminal deputy clerk did not know when the trial would be rescheduled.

Witnesses told police they had seen the girl beaten, thrown around and forced to stand barefoot on water bottle caps. :stormingmad:

---------------------

A new law that took effect Sept. 1
requiring all available evidence to be tested for DNA could delay a trial indefinitely.

---------------------

The case was scheduled to be tried in November, but more than 30 pieces of evidence in the case will have to be tested and tested again, he said.

I can remember reading about this when it happened, Can't believe all this time has passed without them being tried. Wish it would hurry up, as the sooner they get the death penalty, the sooner they die for what they did to her.
