I visit YouTube off & on, mostly to look at fringe & exotic topic (e.g. "Top 10 mysterious deaths, "10 most hated actors") or music videos (yes, I remember well when MTV played music). And when I looked in on YouTube this morning, I was surprised to find a picture of Lori Erica Ruff tagging a video named "5 People whose lives were shrouded in Mystery & Secrecy". (Link is www youtube com/watch?v=I_7kac7KKTI -- link munged so you aren't forced to watch the video.) It had been posted the day before & already had 214K hits. (Other individuals mentioned in this video are the Isdal Woman, the Woman of the Seine, the "Huntington Beach Jane Doe" -- the first I heard of this case -- & D.B./Dan Cooper. I'm amazed that the Somerton Man wasn't included, which IMHO is one of the most mysterious identity cases, even more mysterious than this one.)
So this case is getting some fresh publicity.
Not much new info presented, & some of it wrong. The creator claimed that LEK took college classes as BST then changed her name -- which is wrong. And that although she took these classes & received her degree, no one remembers her -- which is wrong too: there are a few people who have come forth to say they remember her before her marriage, but not very many. He only mentions two of theories who she was: that she might have been a spy -- probably the least possible theory about her past -- & that had changed her name to flee an abusive partner. And no explicit mention this is an open case with the SSA.
The new information includes a pic of Blake I've never seen before, & a pic of a woman I've never seen before that is apparently LEK. And the narrator pronounces LEK's middle name differently than I thought it was (he pronounces it Er-ee-kah, where I thought it was pronounced as "eric" with "ah" tacked to the end of her name).
Maybe some new information will be shaken loose by this Youtube video.
