GUILTY UK - Somaiya Begum, 20, found deceased, Bradford, 25 June 2022 *uncle arrested*

Moo...not so sure about honour killing. Maybe the uncle was not treating her the way a good uncle should? Moo

"Recorder Mansell said: 'I am fixing your trial for February 20 next year. You will be held in remand until that date.

'There will be a plea and trial preparation hearing on September 19. You will remain in custody until then.' "

He answered “not guilty ma’am” when the court clerk put the charge to him.

Miss Begum, 20, of Binnie Steet, Barkerend, Bradford, was last seen at her home on June 25 at 2pm and was reported missing 24 hours later.

A fortnight later, a large-scale police search to find Miss Begum ended in tragedy when detectives confirmed her body had been discovered in Fitzwilliam Street, at 7.35pm on July 6 last year.

The street where Miss Begum’s body was found is a heavily industrial area, with various businesses and warehouses nearby.

The trial is set to last for three weeks and The Honourable Justice Neil Garnham will be presiding over it.

It is expected that the prosecution will be represented by Jason Pitter KC and his junior Tom Storey, with Zafar Ali KC and his junior Karen Robinson for the defence.

At last!
I was wondering about this case.
This poor girl!
RIP :(

It’s bad enough that young girls this age can’t feel safe in public and walking the streets at night. But when one can’t even feel safe in one’s own home, that’s tragic. I’m sorry, sweet girl, that the man who should’ve protected you was the one who ended your short life. RIPower. MOO

Really detailed updates on the above link. He has admitted perverting the course of justice.

Poor Somaiya. So she was living at an uncles under a protection order due to threats of honour based violence from her own father as she refused to marry a cousin in Pakistan. Only to be murdered by her other uncle if proven.

Absolutely awful

Oh and Somaiya's father went to Pakistan in January and hasn't returned since, not even for her murder trial. Make of that what you will.
Is it just my view, or the defence team are implying S’s father is responsible and TK just disposed of S’s body???

The jury is out. Wondering if we’ll get a verdict tomorrow. Not so confident about a unanimous guilty verdict now :( Has anyone else been following?
