Men at that time followed a similar hair and clothing style particularly those in business. Photos of NH and JC never appeared in any tv or newspapers perhaps if they did then the public may have thought that they also resembled Mr Kipper.
Yes, a game you can play on public transport is to count how many people you see on your journey who look like Mr Kipper. My record is 10 between Warwick Avenue and Embankment, which included a woman, but it's never zero on any journey. It's just a generic man's face.

I'm not sure that staring at folk on the tube should be encouraged! It can rapidly bring one into contact with their nemesis, in a collar feeling kind of way

And this is just the purpose of a sketch or photo fit.....a memory jog to people who may:

1. Have been in SR and saw someone who looked like 'Kipper'.

2. Be someone who looks like 'Kipper' and who was in SR, and is prompted to come forward and thereby eliminate thmeselves from a line of enquiry.

3. Be someone who thinks they know someone who looks like 'Kipper' and may have concerns about them. They provide the name and it provides a line of enquiry.

The point is that no one did come forward but more than one witness provided a similar description.

The sketch and/or photofit is NOT identification evidence

The argument that so many individuals look the same is to completely miss the relevance of the sketch and/or photofit, in that it is a combination of the image AND the location.

Knowledge and experience is essential in order to provide context.

Where the relevant knowledge and experience is absent then the assertion is often way off target and it undermines the discussion.

Was it ever ascertained if WJ and husband showed any interest in viewing 37 Shorrolds rd?

Interesting, the canal needs to be eliminated, however, the witness had passed on before this can to light. JD himself said he could find no evidence that the witness ever reported this back in 1986.
The account was given to JD by a relative of the deceased lorry driver, which in your words make it questionable.
It’s ironic that money could be found to fund this on the basis of questionable information.
According to other questionable witnesses JC was a regular in the PoW, this should make this a search site on the polices list.
Have I missed something? What is the PoW please?

The Prince of Wales Public House, 138 Upper Richmond Road, Putney.

SJL had 'mislaid' a diary, cheque book and a postcard sometime since the Friday before she went missing.

The property was found over the weekend before SJL went missing, by staff at the pub.

The pub staff telephoned SJL's bank, believed on the morning of Monday 28th July (from cheque book info), who in turn contacted SJL to advise where her property had been found.

SJL had either been unaware of the missing property or unconcerned until the morning of 28th July. She had telephoned her bank from work to cancel her cheque book before the property find was notified to her bank.

SJL had made arrangements to collect her property from the pub at approximately 18:00 on 28th July, the evening of her disappearance.

Some hypothesise that SJL made a bogus diary entry to enable her to go the pub at lunchtime to collect her property and that she didn't intend to go to 37 Shorrolds Road, as indicated in her work diary.
