GUILTY UT - Anne Kasprzak, 15, body found in Jordan River, 10 March 2012

So who in the H*ll murdered Annie? Was she ever at the house that was supposedly the scene of the crime?

Sounds like someone made it up because she was angry at the suspects.
This is why we do not arrest people only on someone's testimony, with no evidence to verify their story.

I have found nothing on the "3rd" suspect that is mentioned further up thread.
At one point they said there was 3 suspects in custody but I never saw WHO the 3rd suspect was?
So I'm not sure if that means there was only 2... or if the other person is still a suspect.

So basically the police have lost a years worth of time investigating these men who had no part of her murder. I hope that "witness" is charged and has to spend some time in jail for supplying false info!

So they are back to square one? Wow, this really changes things. The suspect pool is wide open again.

Her family didn't believe these guys were involved anyway.
Perhaps they knew all along... that would have been extremely frustrating.

The family said they do not believe Ferry had anything to do with the teenager's death.

"Other than statements made from somebody else, there isn't anything else that connects him to Anne, in our opinion," said Veronica Kasprzak, the girl's mother.

Draper police said Thursday they had made an arrest in connection with the 2012 death of 15-year-old Anne Kasprzak, whose body was discovered in the Jordan River.

Deputy Chief John Eining initially would only confirm the arrest had been made in the girl’s brutal slaying, offering no other details...

A news conference was scheduled 3 p.m. Thursday at the Draper City Council Chambers, 1020 E. Pioneer Road.

Draper police announced Thursday afternoon the arrest of a 17-year-old suspect in connection with the 2012 death of a Riverton teen.

The juvenile was arrested Thursday morning in Grand Junction, Colo. and will be extradited to Utah.

Draper Police Chief Bryan Roberts said his department is confident that the juvenile suspect is responsible for the death of 15-year-old Annie Kasprzak. “We are not looking for anyone else,” Roberts said.

Investigators say it was Anne Kasprzak's 14-year-old boyfriend who severely beat her, then dumped her body in the Jordan River in 2012.

Why he allegedly killed her remains a mystery, but investigators say blood evidence, cellphone data, a torn-up memo and other evidence have convinced them they have the right guy 2 ½ years later.

The boy, now 17, was arrested in Grand Junction, Colorado, Thursday and charged in 3rd District Juvenile Court with murder, a first-degree felony, and obstructing justice, a second-degree felony. Prosecutors said they may later push to charge him as an adult.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill on Tuesday confirmed that the boy, who had been living in Grand Junction, Colo., had decided not to fight extradition, and that he was currently being held in a county juvenile detection center.

"Given the seriousness of the alleged crime, we have decided to certify him [for trial in adult court]," Gill said, noting that his staff was preparing to argue that motion in juvenile court at some point in the near future.

Wow! I'm glad there has been an arrest, I wonder when they'll release his name.

Thanks okiegranny for keeping this thread up to date.

Fifteen-year-old Anne Kasprzak’s journals indicate a possible motive for her 2012 murder: She had told her boyfriend she was pregnant and the then-14-year-old boy did not want the baby, according to search warrant affidavits obtained Wednesday by The Tribune.

The boy, now 17, made his first appearance in 3rd District Juvenile Court on Wednesday morning to hear the charges against him: first-degree felony murder and second-degree felony obstruction of justice.

Judge Dane Nolan ordered an adult certification report and psychological evaluation for the boy, in response to a motion by prosecutors to have the case moved to adult court.

“We want him to be certified as an adult,” said Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill...

While it took investigators years to make an arrest, the court documents show their evidence was beginning to mount in the days following Kasprzak’s death.

On March 14, investigators asked Kasprzak’s boyfriend to provide them with his shoes. He obliged, but then explained that they may find some of Kasprzak’s blood on them, left there by a bloody nose she recently had. Later that evening, court records stated that the teen sent a text to a friend saying, “I need you to do something for me really bad.”

A 17-year-old boy charged with the 2012 murder of 15-year-old Anne Kasprzak is due back in court on Thursday morning for a scheduling hearing...

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill and Draper police have declined to comment on a motive, though a search warrant affidavit tells the story of a girl who thought she was pregnant with her boyfriend’s baby...

In an interview with police, Kasprzak’s stepfather James Bratcher said he learned that Kasprzak was telling family and friends she was pregnant with the boy’s baby. Her family immediately made the girl take a pregnancy test, which came back negative. However, Bratcher pointed out to the police that Kasprzak’s day planner had a notation on March 1, 2012 that said the boyfriend "finds out."
