It really is sad the culture some communities are thrust into. I know there's areas in my county like this group, but it's not the normal nor the majority. So I think it must be the same there. We're seeing so many in one place, so it's noticeable, but if you lived in that community, you would know who the 'bad seeds' are, but not necessarily have to deal with them.
Then, you have good families. Their reputation stands for itself, and they've been in the area for decades. Those families can have 'bad seeds' as well. But guess what? If that family comes from money, their 'bad seeds' are overlooked. Oh it's talked about among neighbors, but, that family isn't shunned, or whatever. People still have business dealings with them, still go there for cook outs, etc. And it's discussed how terrible and hard it is for so and so that their son has been arrested again. The "Doesn't he know what's he doing to the family?" "Poor thing couldn't handle grandma dying, and got on them drugs" "Oh Susie, bless you, it's gotta be so hard! But you did the best you could..." If it's a poor family, then they are bottom of the pond scum. At least in my county that's the way it goes.... and the 'birds of a feather flock together'
