TX - Trial of Robert Durst in the murder of Morris Black

The police are not questioning it at all, The media is. The police seem to be thankful for the help from the movie makers.

Oh sorry, I guess I misunderstood the gist of the article.

I know the media has been questioning it all day.. Asking them and he has been answering but they seem to be good with how this went down. I have not seen one LE rep come out and give them heck about it.

I think it is hard to figure out the real timeline because of how long ago it was done. I think they arrested him yesterday because they had a sneak peek of what was coming and knew he would run when he saw that last bit on the mic.

Director of Durst Film Says He Is ‘Relieved’ About Arrest

<snip>

-When did you discover the piece of audio from the bathroom, in which Mr. Durst seemed to confess?

-At what point did you turn over the evidence you’d found to law enforcement, in terms of the letter to Susan Berman and the audio from the bathroom?

Oh man, this man is a pathological liar. Even worse than Jodi Arias! On his lease application he states that he is a Chief Botanist.

ETA: and he is GOOD at it. Only he can't shut up, which is why he will hopefully end up in prison. Which btw, I think he LIKED prison when he was there. He basically said so himself. He felt respected there and respected the other inmates. SMH.

Prudence, sister of Mia and namesake of the Beatle's song, had been seeing Durst when his wife 'disappeared'.

Gotcha.. I don't think she knows anything or she would be dead IMO.

I think that he kills because he wants to keep his secrets. Everyone who knows his secrets are dead. I still have to wonder if there aren't any more that we have missed. Anymore people who went missing around where he was..

Did anyone see this? Seems LE is questioning how long the filmmakers held on to the evidenc.

It seems the media is questioning the timeline and not getting any answers to explain it. Also, it could be bad news if its proven that they were working as agents for LE because then theres a chance it might not be admissible in court. If Durst lives long enough this trial is gonna be something else.

Mr. DeGuerin said he has not yet seen Mr. Durst’s warrant, or the final episode of “The Jinx.”

“We’re just not going to talk about that at this point. There will be a time,” he said. Mr. DeGuerin laughed when asked if he thought the arrest warrant was timed for the last episode of the show. “Of course it was,” he said.

In recent days, the Federal Bureau of Investigation had become increasingly concerned that the publicity surrounding the HBO series would cause Mr. Durst to flee the country or go into hiding with a false identity, according to a law enforcement official familiar with the situation.

Investigators came to suspect Mr. Durst was staying at the J.W. Marriott in New Orleans, and that he’d driven there in a Toyota Camry from Houston, according to the official. He had paid cash and showed a fake driver’s license to get the room, the official said.

FBI agents set up surveillance at the hotel, and at 4:30 p.m. Saturday saw Mr. Durst enter into the hotel, and observed him walking in circles, mumbling to himself, the official said. At that point, they arrested him, the official added.

I just got finished binge watching 6 episodes and I feel extremely creeped out. A little sick at my stomach. This man, who I could almost feel sorry for is such a masterful manipulator. I have to wonder if he isn't responsible for many more murders. I believe that he was going to kill his brother at the end there when he returned sans camera. The whole thing makes me shaky.

He really believes he is smarter than anyone else. He chooses his words very carefully.

An act for an insanity plea I presume. Everyone knows that they are being filmed in a hotel lobby. I am sure he knew that something was about to go down.

I don't think the insanity defense will work. I think he's nuts, but knows right from wrong.

Yeah, I think you're right. They got a hint he was going to flee. NG show is covering the case now.

Matthew Birkbeck (sic?) the poster that started this thread is currently on Nancy Grace right now discussing the "mutterings" of RD while in the bathroom at the end of The Jinx interview - episode 6.

Matthew stating he has reported RD has been cross dressing since the 1990's.

"He belongs in a home for the very very bewildered" according to Kathie's friend on NG. Friend Ellen Strauss believes he killed Kathie. Believes it wasn't premeditated like the other 2 possible murders of Susan Berman and the one in Galvaston (Morris Black?).

I almost just cracked a rib when I read this tweet:

Jon Snow ‏9m9 minutes ago

Now that I’ve caught up on both Serial AND The Jinx, I think I’m ready to launch my own documentary investigation into my neighbor, Carl.

I've read that he has been suspected in the deaths of 2 young women in CA.

"Now, as the 60-year-old Scarsdale native and scion of a Manhattan real estate empire goes on trial in that Galveston killing, investigators in northern California are taking a close look at Durst, suspecting he might have played a role in the disappearance of two teenage girls there in 1997 — 18-year-old Kristen Modafferi in San Francisco and 16-year-old Karen Mitchell in Eureka."

This is a very good interview with his brother Douglas. Douglas believes that Robert killed 6 dogs in the 6 months prior to the disappearance of Kathie. Douglas thinks Robert was practicing murder and dismemberment.

Oh gosh this chic on HLN cannot believe that he would go into a restroom and ramble on like he did. I guess she didn't watch the whole series because he did it in one of the earlier episodes where they had to tell him that his mic was hot.

2003 NY Times article:

Prudence Farrow, who had been dating Mr. Durst when his first wife disappeared, is also said to be nervous that Mr. Durst may come looking for her. She has told investigators he grew furious with her when she tried to break off their relationship, only days before she discovered that Kathleen Durst had vanished, according to a friend who also spoke with investigators.
