I thought, that prior to the big dig, the coroner was about to put forward her findings and felt somewhat frustrated by the police having another line of inquiry they wished to persue, then announcing the big dig and 1 POI that they were focusing upon, the FFC. So with those things in mind and having heard the investigators personally formed views in a court proceeding and a brief being sent to the ODPP recommending charges of the FFC. So with all that in mind, recall of witnesses to my mind, might be, FFC, MFC, Mr/Mrs Crabb, AMS, LH, Chris Rowley, Wendy Hudson, witness who saw the FFC in her mother's car, Ben Atwood, Katherine Alexander and possibly GO and other witnesses in regards to his whereabouts on the 12/9/14.

I have to disagree with their lawyer that you would have to criminalise 'every household' based on what they did. Yes, most (but definitely *not* all) parents will, at some point, lose their cool to the point of a smack or shouting - usually that they'll go on to regret, based on my experiences with parents. And its still legal in NSW to smack (under certain circumstances and with limits as to where on the body you smack and with how much force) - whether or not it should be is another debate. I believe (and hope) kicking falls out of those allowed circumstances regardless. But I think a foster child is different. A foster child you have to keep some level of professionalism around, I think. You could be asked by the state to give that child back at any time, right? They're not your child, you're not their adoptive or biological parent and I think the standard of behaviour expected is, and should be, different. JMO

Oh yep, just found the proof that foster parents are held to a different standard - the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Regulation 2012 (regulations 41 and 86) (link downloads PDF) hold that all corporal punishment is banned in foster care. So a pretty disingenuous argument by the lawyer IMO. Foster parents are legally held to a higher standard.

bbm This line is a bit ambiguous. I wonder which child in their care they were referring to. Logic tells me the newer child, I'm really hoping that was the case when the longer term child was struggling with a new addition to the family.
