Found Deceased MO - Carol Schulte, 72, experienced hiker, van in pkg lot, near Al Foster Trailhead, Wildwood, St. Louis, 23 May 2022

I never post on any threads, im a silent reader but I can’t help but wonder…. It was stated that her body had “no visible injuries.” The Meramec is loaded with debris, especially when flooded, and the flow of the river, from Al Foster Trail to the area where the body was found, has many turns in the flow of water. How did her body not get caught up in debris, let alone not be “injured?”
Possibly deceased before she went in the water?? Just a thought.

There is a potentially interesting twist. Local media is now reporting that two bodies were found in the river in Arnold. No word yet on who the second body is or if there is any connection.
This was the 19 year old that slipped and fell into the Meramac and was underwater for 15 minutes. He died later at a hospital.

The whole thing is strange

Typically doesn't hike alone
Called in work
Went to a trailhead that was closed

My initial thought is suicide. I hope the family gets answers. It's been covered quite a bit locally and there's been tons of people helping out

The local Fox station has updated their story. Only one body found, Carol’s, not two as they previously reported.

In reporting injuries, LE may not state whether any injuries are Perimortem: at or near the time of death; Antemortem: before death; or Postmortem: after death. Injuries to the body are still evident if they occurred after death there is just no evidence that the body is attempting to heal (and bleeding factors normally, though water would impact this evidence). This is just vague reporting in my opinion. So sorry to hear this news.

Within the article in your post is a link to this article from same Fox source:
19-year-old dies following river rescue in Castlewood
19-year-old dies following river rescue in Castlewood State Park

I’m wondering if the “correction to the story”, was that only one body was found in the river, not two…
And in addition, a second person was “rescued” from the river, who later died at the hospital (not a second body)

Except they didn’t say the last part

My same thoughts, from the beginning the circumstances suggested suicide. I suspect that either the highway patrol's language "not a drowning incident" has been misinterpreted by the reporting agency or that "no obvious signs of injury" doesn't preclude blunt force trauma from a fall, assuming there even are high places near where her car was found.

I’ve been getting this feeling as well. Has anyone heard/seen anything from the husband?

The Flamm City Boat Ramp? I read she was found in the water near Cecos Lane, which is just off of hwy 44.

Arnold per the official Facebook, the Leader, Fox 2, Riverfront times, West News, etc...

Articles have mentioned both locations. I wonder if she was first spotted near Cecos Lane as that's further north, but by the time they reached her body, it had traveled further south to the boat ramp location.

Cecos Ln and Flamm City boat ramp are in the city limits of Arnold. Flamm City is an area along the river where a town used to be many, many years ago. When Arnold incorporated years ago, it included Flamm City. I don't think there's much down there these days besides the boat ramp. Well, there are a lot of new subdivisions nearby.

They really can't know any details about any of this until the autopsy. All we've got is the impression of some LE on the scene who might or might not know anything about peri- and post-mortem injury.

Tim Schulte said that while his family is still in a state of shock, they've found some comfort in the closure of finding her body.

"She was a wonderful stepmother, mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother," he said.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Lisa Ehrlich of Melbourne, Florida; a son, Adam Knott of Las Vegas; two stepsons, Tim Schulte of Eureka and Greg Schulte of Katy, Texas; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
....
The pastor said the detective on his stepmother's case told the family that in the 25 years he's served as a police officer, he can't remember a time when so many people came to help so quickly.

The family said police continue to investigate what happened to Schulte. No information has been released about how she might have died.

Missing Ballwin Woman's Body Found in Meramec River – Riverfront Times
<snipped & BBM>
A search for a 72-year-old woman came to a tragic end on Monday, May 30, when her body was found in the Meramec River at the Flamm City Boat Ramp in Arnold, Missouri.

Another quote from this article

"The police said in a statement that the investigation is “very active,” and to contact the department at 636-529-8210 to speak with investigators if you have any information regarding this incident."

That certainly makes it seem like LE doesn’t believe the only possibility is suicide. While it’s definitely a possibility, the circumstances are pretty bizarre so I’m glad to see that LE seems to be exploring all angles.

Right. They sound like they're still at the stage of gathering evidence, etc.
