seems like a lot of the “local” rumours at the time weren’t so much rumours

Indeed. Local people that know the area and people generally know best.

The appearance of the blue wheelie bin must have looked instantly and massively out of place.

The neck had ‘gone off’ more than the rest of the body..
Maybe it’s just me but I find this particular phrasing very gruesome and unnecessary, plus obviously horrific for the family to hear about their loved one. ‘Decomposed’ or ‘more decomposed than the rest of the body’ surely would have been better wording here. There are family members listening to this. ‘Gone off’ is not very professional wording imo, surely the jury and people present know the meaning of the word ‘decomposed’. I don’t know, this just stood out to me as a strange way to put her point across. MOO

To be fair to the pathologist. She wasn't reading from a pre-prepared statement, so she can't really be blamed for a potential word slip when responding to a live question in front of a full court.

And there's certainly no fridge to hide in.

Now this stuff - forensic ecology - really interests me. Fascinating what they can find out when a body has been outside or even under water. There's a link in my profile posts if anyone is interested to learn more about how it helps solves crimes.

Me too.

I'll be bookmarking your links to read later.

Anyone else thinking they have no idea how this trial is going to turn out?! My opinion is changing by the day on this one.

From what's being said this past few days it's looking more likely that he's done it himself..but why? Does anyone know if he will have to take the witness stand himself? Is so can he refuse to talk?

I think it's ridiculous that the trial is finished early because he's a 2 hour drive away...it's not fair on the family of Lindsay.

On a related note. A narcissist type would get a huge satisfaction in knowing that they have some kind of ''control '.

'I'm tired, let me leave the dock' (as seen when the evidence that the defence and prosecution agreed on was given).

'I have a 2 hour journey, we must finish 2 hours early, because of ME'

Then god knows why they are having Monday off too (does anyone know?). Possibly as the defendant needs a long weekend to 'save energy'?

It does seem like this trial is being spun out far longer than necessary.

I think the days when court is not sitting - ie; Monday and Friday next week - will be to do with the schedules of either the Judge or Counsel ( or both ). Probably some prior commitment on those days.

But wasn’t the court finished early today at the request of the judge? I don’t think it was the decedents decision? Or at least that’s how I read it.

Does anybody know which path he took with the wheelie bin from the Coppice to get onto Burnley road before crossing to the cemetery. He seemed to use 2 different paths before moving the body in the bin.

In regards to the defendant being 2hrs drive away, this is interesting as there is a Y.O in Lancaster, which is very close to Preston. Maybe the place he is at is a specialist unit to support his Autism?

I think i have figured out his need to use the 2 different paths up to the Coppice ( path at side of pub and path at side of bungalows.)
I think he takes the bin up the coppice via the bungalows for 2 reasons, one it is actually a more direct line to her body and two because its easier to take the bin up the field that way. He also walks back the same way because its the shortest route. However i did ask myself why he didnt use this route for the dry run and also the movement of her body to the cemetery. I think its because 5 days later he has learnt from the media, that the bungalows have cctv looking at the entrance to the cemetery, so he knows he has to avoid this route and hence his reason for a dry run. He now has to manouvre the bin to get to the original funeral directors path to avoid the cctv. In going this way he has left evidence of the bin scraping on some concrete because it wasnt the easiest route.

I'm absolutely astounded that he was able to use either paths, OR, walk on Burnley Road ever as police were everywhere. Are you from the area?

No not the area but i have been looking at it from Google Earth. I think they focussed their searches higher up the coppice and even to a nearby quarry in the early days before they found her. Its only after they found her that the police presence started to ramp up near the pub
