No not the area but i have been looking at it from Google Earth. I think they focussed their searches higher up the coppice and even to a nearby quarry in the early days before they found her. Its only after they found her that the police presence started to ramp up near the pub
Yes, you're right, they did. Just thought I'd ask you if you were from here. I'm just a mile from Lindsay's home & burial site. Burnley Road is so wide, open & bright, I'm still gobsmacked he was able to meander around there, and, on so many occasions without being seen!

I think its due to the fact the police didnt really look for him until they found the body and the bin left at the scene. They then knew to look for somebody inbetween the cemetery and the coppice and with a bin.

Yes. Spot on

Although he is calculated in some ways, he has been very stupid to leave gloves in the cemetery and also to leave the bin at the scene.

I am not in anyway experienced with law and court proceedings, so my question is, will the prosecution have to prove that the defendant is guilty of murder? In other words can he get off with it because there is some doubt, because of his story of a mysterious man? Or can the jury find him guilty because there is no proof of a mysterious man?

Alternatively can he be found guilty of a different charge because he moved and buried a dead person?

good idea, google maps. this was obviosuly his route from coppice to cemetery.

Is anyone that knows the area able to mark on the map where exactly the plinths are?

Also, what was the actual status of the Whitaker's Arms from August 12-24th? Was it completely abandoned? Or was it being renovated at the time? - As in workmen were actually in and on the premises?

Thanks.

I think i have figured out his need to use the 2 different paths up to the Coppice ( path at side of pub and path at side of bungalows.)
I think he takes the bin up the coppice via the bungalows for 2 reasons, one it is actually a more direct line to her body and two because its easier to take the bin up the field that way. He also walks back the same way because its the shortest route. However i did ask myself why he didnt use this route for the dry run and also the movement of her body to the cemetery. I think its because 5 days later he has learnt from the media, that the bungalows have cctv looking at the entrance to the cemetery, so he knows he has to avoid this route and hence his reason for a dry run. He now has to manouvre the bin to get to the original funeral directors path to avoid the cctv. In going this way he has left evidence of the bin scraping on some concrete because it wasnt the easiest route.

Do you know what the media actually said regarding that?

Also, does anyone know whereabouts on Burnley road the CCTV that was released to the media prompting the defendant (with family) to attend the police station to 'fess up' is?

Suspect identified in hunt for killer

Footage taken on 17th August 2019 - Released to media on 27th August 2019

I can't help you with the plinths I'm afraid as useless at that kind of thing! I can, however, confirm that the Whitakers Arms was closed on the dates you have asked about. The refurb (to my knowledge was not taking place at that time). I didn't see any workmen coming & going

I think the cctv you're referring to may be outside of 301 Burnley Road. Check out the pavement to see if you agree

When you say closed do you mean 'permanently'? What I mean by that is as in 'the previous owners had left and new owners were due to take over'.

What I'm trying to get at there is the CCTV position. If the present owners were simply 'closing for a while' and were still involved you'd have thought they would still be managing the premises in some way and may have left on any security system.
Kind of like if you were selling a house. You would probably still have any security measures in place: alarm, electricity and gas still connected etc. - Not just abandon it totally.

The defendant was presumably going to take the next right into Whitewell Road

No, I don't think it was abandoned. No idea if the people that run it now are the same as the previous. It was only closed for a refurb. It seems to me that the refurb didn't start for some time. I've been informed that the cctv was off in the period when Lindsay was killed

Yes. It looks like it. On the corner just before Whitewell Road. It looks like the same silver vehicle is also parked outside.

Yes. I'm really confused now as according to Whitakers Arns Facebook page the place was open in July.

Yet, every time I passed it, the place was in darkness

I know it's a bit strange trying to find method in the madness. But why didn't the defendant just enter the cemetery by what I presume are the main gates? Opposite the bungalow (326 Burnley Road approx). Had he done that he wouldn't have been caught on the CCTV by the bungalow on the corner Burnley/Whitaker Road.

What time does the Cemetery close by the way? I presume the gates are locked at some stage? Though if it does I would gave thought front and side gates would be locked.

So agree with you regarding the route he walked! I don't know what time the cemetery closes. Most of them close at 8 or 10pm. I don't know much about the area (Burnley Road, etc) as I live in the opposite direction
