NC vs. Raven Abaroa ~ the Trial

Yes, we have that but we have a $500.00 deductible and I don't think our loss was that great.
Good to see you Glee!!

IIRC, the deductable didn't apply to food loss. I could be wrong, but I remember collecting on it once where we didn't have any loss except for food. Hi East! Been thinking about all my friends here, just been so busy in real life, haven't followed any trials since Michelle Young. :seeya::seeya::seeya:

In his OS the DT mentioned that ***** on WS kept track of Raven's every move, and really sort of insinuated that was why this case was re-opened.
I looked up the name, and he is just an advocate for Janet's family. Bless him.

BBL - watching the other trial for a few hours, but will keep this one in my heart.

I don't think this case was ever 'not open', not disagreeing with your statement, just saying *he* made an incorrect insinuation IMO. I think we've all known since the first couple weeks who killed Janet. It was simply like Jason Young, getting enough evidence to convict was the delay, along with the problems in the Durham DA's office. :seeya:

I think about you each time we visit our child near you. Hope you are ok Glee and things in your life are good. I don't think I've followed one since the Young trial, 2nd one, either. I'm very ready for the Hayes/Haze trial to start and didn't realize this RA trial was going to be streamed until it began. I'm happy to be back among friends!

I've been comparing the Young case to this one and need to google the dates. Wonder if JY's being in Hillsville, VA gave RA the idea to commit the murder and use the soccer games as an alibi?
On my way to google the dates right now, would be convenient if the Young case gave RA a roadmap as to carrying out his own evil deed.

Ah Ha! This case was first--4/26/05. The Young murder was 11/3/06. So RA may have given JY the idea about setting up the alibi.

That is so strange isn't it; I've thought of Michelles case and her family many times since this trial started. shoring up those dates would be very interesting.

It would be very interesting to find out if the cable co could establish any type of link, to the JY trial. Even forensically on the PC; and or laptops in that home. I would have searched for those myself if I could have.

Same here for our freezer vs. Hurricane Fran... Fran won. We couldn't cook anything since we had no electricity to cook. We did use the grill, but the stuff in the freezer was indeed a total loss. When we talked to our homeowner's insurance (and car ins.) woman, she asked about food loss & we said yes we lost a freezer full. I calculated an amount & we got a check for that amount. I think our gracielee is right about the no-deductible.

And I'm glad you got some rest. Whew!

Save some tomatoes for me later in the season; and okra; and green beans; and butter beans; and squash; and new potatoes; and cukes; and whatever else you have a lot of..... oh, yum. Fresh from the garden food.

End of OT.

Which Trial is the Hays Haze trial?

It's that awful man and his so called wife who murdered the mother of his 2 children, dismembered her, and drove her body parts to TX in coolers. The Raleigh police dept. was on top of this case from the first moment,,,,they notified the TX law enforcement folks who found the dismembered body parts in a creek at the sister's house of the so called wife. He is arrogant, nasty, has fired 2 court appointed attorneys already and is working on his third. This case came to light in June or July of last year. Was supposed to go to court this month, trying the two together, but the cases were severed a couple of weeks ago as the female defendant is singing on the male. It will be a good one.

I'll check into the food loss. Thank you, and Glee, both for the heads up.
We ran out of garden space and need to till another section. I love fresh anything out of a garden too! I'll save you some :)

I think RA did need to get ideas from someone -- I just don't think this guy is all that bright -- or maybe he's just lazy.

And what did take LE so long -- were things that fouled up in the justice/law & order dept of Durham County? It was one thing after another over there. But for that long? Or is the evidence that weak or what? We need good solid circumstantial evidence here. I hope the blood tells us a story that points right back to RA. We need that. Yes, we do.

Each time mention of this case was made in the media, per JA's family's questions, the mess in the Durham DA's office was always the cause they gave for the delay(s). I hope that's all it was and there is no lack of CE. Her family seemed to understand and their comments reflected a patience that I wouldn't have had but near the end of 2012 their comments were becoming increasingly more persistent. I'm glad the family stayed behind the DA's office on this, otherwise they may have never brought it to trial. Praying for some strong evidence of some sort to put this horrible man behind bars for the rest of his life. He is guilty.

Raven told his home teacher the next day that, upon arriving home, he grabbed Janet and she asked him "Why do I hurt so bad?" and he responded "I don't know."

HMM. That's different from telling the 9-1-1 dispatcher that she was already gone. :waitasec:

 "Why do I hurt so bad?" I am watching the feeds now. I haven't gotten there but I saw the wral.com article and that made me happy. I can't believe I can't sit with you all and watch live, but it seems like watching the replays are better, because there is problems with the sound.

Actually speaking of the Young case, Jason Young mentioned this case in an email to his sister.

Watching testimony I missed. I'm on Day 3, pt 2. About the 48 min marker.

Exhibit 269 and 270 - the swabs from the blood in the vehicle!!

No results given on any of the evidence the CSI has opened and identified so far. Just admitting it for now. I'm assuming it's Janet's since the state is the one entering the evidence. I haven't heard about the strands of hair Janet had in her hand when they found her. Did I miss that part ?

Day 3 , pt 3
about the 5 min marker - they didn't take Janet's t-shirt to the lab??

The shirt was given to the lab for sure. I believe I heard that Janet was sent to the funeral home in her pants, socks and a hair band. That was packaged and given back to the family.

There was testimony from Donna Jackson that the family turned over Janets pants, socks and head band to another CSI person much later in the original package and this CSI immediately turned it over to Donna Jackson, I can't remember the name, I'd have to go back through the video.

I don't know if those were tested. I am not sure of the time span, I think I heard it was a year or so later, but again I'd have to go through that day's testimony again.

dang - just got back - anything about the blood yet?
WS will be FAMOUS!! lol

Actually I am not sure why this DT feels the need to bring up WS, etc. constantly. It seems to me that Websleuths has been around a VERY long time. Websleuths has followed the Jon Benet Ramsey case, Scott Peterson, Casey Anthony, Jason Young, Riley Fox, and other extremely HIGH Profile cases. There has never been such an issue over Websleuths and people's normal curiosity regarding crimes.

Websleuths has been instrumental in solving many Cold cases, there is obviously a need and Websleuths provides a great service.

There used to be a Court TV forum, which I used to belong to when I followed cases such as the Scott Peterson trial.

If you look at the amount of people following certain cases, you will see hundreds of people (sometimes 700 - 1000) people following the Jodi Arias trial, there are what, 5-7 people following this case.

There is no Jury by Websleuths. We have opinions and should be allowed to have opinions. If we go back to the beginning of this case, relatives and friends of Raven posted quite often.

So regarding Websleuths being famous, they are quite famous, they have many high profile attorneys that use this forum, people like Beth Karas, Proseuctors and Defense Attorneys have been involved in Websleuths. Even the Prosecutor, JEFF ASHTON, in the extremely high profile case, of Florida vs. Casey Anthony had belonged to Websleuths and he posted.

Where is Amos Tyndall going with this?

Nothing I or anyone here posting on any case has a hand in the outcome of any case, because there are 12 men and women that will be charged with coming up with an Innocent or Guilty Verdict.

We all have the right to state our opinions, and even if 12 men and women of Raven's peers state Raven is Innocent, it will never change my mind on who killed Janet on April 26, 2005 and luckily we all have the right to our opinions.

There was a barrage of wife murders in the Raleigh area in 2005-2008. I think the copycat husbands thought they could all get away with it since it appeared that RA was going to.
There is still one that makes me sad in which no arrest has ever been made--that of the very pretty, pregnant, young and married paper carrier who was found murdered during her nightly paper route. I can't remember her name right now but there has never been much focus on her husband and I'm afraid there is so little evidence it will never be solved.
I will never live long enough to understand why these men think murdering their wives is easier than getting a divorce. It all comes down to their not wanting to pay child support, etc. Sickening.
