"A man stabbed in a random attack on a Melbourne tram says his attacker jammed a screwdriver into his chest, and then smiled.

French national Nathan Barbarat, was also slashed with a knife by his attacker's girlfriend during the incident on a tram at St Kilda earlier this month.

Mr Barbarat, 23, couldn't breathe after the attack because his chest filled with blood.

"After stabbing me, he was smiling," he told reporters on Thursday."

"LATEST: POLICE have arrested a man “known to police” depicted in CCTV in relation to the stabbing murder of Doncaster 17-year-old Masa Vukotic.

The man, who handed himself into police about 11.30am today, smiled at cameras as he was driven away from Sunshine police station flanked by detectives about 1.10pm.

Wearing a blue police-issued jumpsuit, the man in his 20s also stuck his middle finger up as the car stopped briefly on busy Ballarat Rd.

The man, from Albion, was in handcuffs and appeared calm and even smiled a broad smile from the back seat of the unmarked police car, his head clocked to one side."

I have a real feeling that this is a repeat of the Jill Meagher case.

I can't see this as a random thing, myself. Broad daylight, at a time where many people would be using the park for exercising?

And I'm not making any accusations, but does it seem odd to anyone else that there aren't any photos of her and her boyfriend together, given the strong feelings on his note?

My son is the same age as Masa and share many mutual friends...she had 2 very private FB pages...the media is pulling from the public pictures only....so we just get a small snap shot of her from these. So sad. My heart breaks for the family and for all these young girls in their final year of school....it has hit so close to home.

Agree with queries in above posts: I wonder if he is another Victorian parolee with past rape convictions? Transport by bus. No car. Suspected of predator behaviour i.e. laying in wait for/stalking suitable prey. Unfortunately, Masa had earphones in, therefore could not hear him advance upon her, IMO.

Name announced on 9news: Alleged murderer is Sean Price, currently reporting to Victoria Police for other offences (parole?). Allegedly continued on to commit further crimes after murdering Masa Vukotic last evening, allegedly 'raped' another female in Sunshine area, then allegedly 'car jacked' a car in the early hours of this morning.

Police are now investigating whether the man was involved in a series of incidents prior to handing himself in.

Police will allege a woman was attacked, bashed and sexually assaulted in Sunshine. In another incident, a man was bashed and robbed. A third man was carjacked.
