CA CA - Speed Freak Killers (Shermantine talks; Herzog commits suicide)

"If the jury would've listened to me and believed me, Cyndi Vanderheiden would still be alive."

Those are the words of 51-year-old Lisa Pisano, who says she was raped by convicted killer Wesley Shermantine on Feb. 14, 1998, on a rural road off Highway 26.

LOL she isn't accusing Herzog. She says he called Herzog, but Herzog didn't show. LOL she says friends of hers beat him up.

What strikes me is that Wesley Told this woman "listen to the heart beats of the people I have buried here" and yet No one has even checked out the place to see if anyone is buried there!

Wesley needs to be water boarded until he gives up every grave and every body.......then they should keep doing it just for the fun of it! I would water board him so often he would get the shakes everytime someone turned on a faucet!

I agree! there's so many cases where if people would have been locked up for an earlier offense or not let out (rodriguez in the abduction, murder/rape of dru sjodin) more ppl would still be alive. why are people who will commit these crimes again and again get to see the light of day and smell freedom?

Two more familys finally have some answers. I just wish they would start digging the second and third wells already. Familys are waiting.

Yes, who knows how many more are in the other wells. THESE FAMILIES NEED CLOSURE, I will have no hope in our system if they give up while, most likely, their are numerous more people to be found!

According to this, Shermantine has been dropping clues about Joann Hobson ever since his sentencing.

Mother of "Speed Freak Killers'" victim speaks out

For the first time since Hobson's remains were identified, her mother Joan Shelley spoke about the relief she feels having her daughter back and her prison visits with Shermantine.

"[Shermantine] promised me that he would make sure they'd find Joann," Shelley said. "And I believed him, because he had told me the truth all along from the beginning."

New ‘Speed Freak’ Letters Add Direction

There’s no ‘X’ marking the spot, but there are some very specific locations.

Wesley Shermantine’s hand-drawn maps are going straight from death row to the office of bounty hunter Leonard Padilla.

Shermantine says the third victim in the well was a pregnant black woman.

If he is telling the truth about the missing pregnant black woman, I am thinking she could be Toni Clark, she left her cousin's house in Oakland, CA in the wee hours of the night, her car stalled on the San Franciso Bridge. She was 17 when she vanished, authorities said she just fell over the side of the bridge, but her mom never believed that, the US Coast Guards dragged the bottom of the bay immideatley after she vanished, and found absolutley nothing. Her mother always believed that she was abducted, as a young girl on the side of the road with a broken car in the wee hours of the night is a target for any predator. She went missing March 16, 1990. She was 2 mths pregnant and not far from where the speed freak killers operated. Did he mention where he put this victim???

The other woman I think it could be is Deretha Johnson from San Franciso, CA. She was last seen April 1, 1982, five months pregnant. Not much info on her. Who knows, maybe both these women are their victims:

I will continue to search for other possible speed freak victims and list them on here. I know I posted a long list previously, but now I'm looking at who is most likely their victims in the area they worked in.

I also think Dena Viola McHan is a victim of theirs because she is from Stockton, CA, vanished in the 80's, fits their victim profile as well.

In the recent well they excavated they found the remains of three women. Two they have id'd, the third they haven't. Shermantine is the one who is saying she was a pregnant black woman. Of the two you have mentioned, I am thinking probably Deretha Johnson, as she would have been obviously pregnant thus it would be more memorable.

For a while it was thought that serial killers stuck to their own race. Obviously this is one more example where that is not always true.

Desperate for answers, mom faces killer

snip...Other suspected victims of the duo lived in the same east Stockton neighborhood, off Del Mar Avenue, and socialized in the same park.

snip....Loftis and Shelly said they didn't wish to speculate about who was the real killer - Shermantine or Herzog. They just want answers for more families.

"They, too, deserve to know where their loved one is," Loftis said, next addressing those families. "We do know the heartache you are going through."

She is still asking Shermantine to keep giving answers, I hope she starts putting pressure on authorities to keep searching.

The distance they traveled is starting to get wide. If Shermantine actually starts to tell the complete truth, the list of victims could be staggering.

I don't think this was posted yet...

STOCKTON - Lassen County officials have denied John Vanderheiden's request to view autopsy photos of Loren Herzog so the grieving father can rest assured that one of two men convicted in his daughter's slaying is actually dead.

Sacramento bounty hunter Leonard Padilla said that he too is not convinced Herzog is dead. Padilla offered Shermantine cash that led the killer to reveal burial sites. He called Herzog a few hours before his suicide.

Padilla said Herzog's autopsy report was sloppy. It identified Herzog as being age 40 when he was 46. It listed two different times for when the autopsy was performed.

Padilla said he suspects that Herzog may have been placed alive out of state. "This makes me even more suspicious," Padilla said. "How hard is it to grant the request of the deceased woman's father? I don't see any big deal."
