By Morgan Wagner, KBOI Wednesday, March 2nd 2016

Former Idaho Attorney General, David Leroy said it's only been within the last 100 years, that we've seen changes brought against people for murder when a body hasn't been found. But he says when looking at the evidence in Deorr Junior's case, it's hard to build a case until the toddler's body is found.

Kunz family fires private investigator
Dean Johnson, KTVB 7:10 PM. MST March 02, 2016

The Klein Investigations team was hired by DeOrr's grandfather, Dennis Kunz. Phillip Klein, the senior civil investigator for Klein Investigations, told KTVB he believes the boy is dead and his mother knows where his body is located. It's an accusation, among others, that got Klein fired by the family this morning.
--------------
Allen Browning, who's representing both Jessica and Vernal, says he's spoken to his clients a number of times about what happened that day.

"Their story has not changed at all. Not a bit," Browning said.

Browning added that Klein's making these accusations for self-promotion.

Private detective in DeOrr Kunz case rehired by anonymous client
Idaho State Journal By David Ashby dashby@journalnet.com 7 hrs ago

This week an attorney representing the parents of missing Idaho Falls boy DeOrr Kunz Jr. announced they had fired Klein Investigations and Consulting. In a written statement, the attorney also announced the child's family is pursuing a lawsuit against the private investigation firm for breach of contract and defamation.

But the Nederland, Texas-based company's CEO, Philip Klein, said his detectives won’t be leaving the case any time soon.

He told the Journal that he has been hired by an anonymous client to continue his investigation into what happened to DeOrr, who was reported missing from his family’s campsite in Lemhi County on July 10.

“We were rehired by somebody who wants this case to be resolved and wants to find out what happened to the missing boy,” Klein said. “But the new client does not want their name to be released out to the public.”

Klein also said that Texas Equusearch, a search and rescue organization devoted to finding missing persons, and a team of cadaver dogs from Georgia will be traveling to Idaho within the next couple months to search for DeOrr's remains. Klein believes DeOrr is likely deceased.

Lemhi sheriff’s office addresses social media conversation in DeOrr Kunz case
EastIdahoNews.com Updated at 5:44 pm, March 8th, 2016 By: Nate Sunderland

“In regards to the DeOrr Kunz case there has been a large volume of content generated in social media the last few weeks with some of the content being volatile in nature; we live in a civil society where threatening one another is not acceptable and most certainly will not help solve this case. We want to remind people that we try cases in a court of law based on facts and not in the social media arena.

At the present time this case is still being investigated by this office and other agencies, also we are planning a professional search which will be conducted as soon as weather and winter conditions in the area allow. It is imperative that the area remain in a pristine condition. It is for this reason we are asking the public to avoid the area so the area will remain as undisturbed as possible as winter conditions recede.

We know there is a tremendous amount of interest in this case; we will give further updates when it is appropriate and is compatible with the active investigation.”

Parents break silence; deny involvement in son's disappearance

Jessica and Vernal say not a day goes by without a threat.

"That they know we're going to go to hell for what we did to our son. How could we do that? Just things like that," said Mitchell.

"If you're so damn positive we'd like to talk to you and so does the F.B.I. and law enforcement if you're so positive," said Kunz...

"I feel like that's been the case for months," said Mitchell. "I feel like they've already made up their minds that he is deceased or whatever they think, and people go 'oh okay, well whatever' and they were able to walk past him, yeah and they could've walked past him, someone could have easily walked past him in a store."

"Thanks to the politics of this you've already made up your mind, you've put it behind you, it's closed in your mind. He's not home, we have no more answers than we did July 10th," said Kunz....

"If somebody has him I want them to know that we're not going to give up and we'll find him, and it doesn't matter what you do to his appearance, we'll find him," said Jessica.

Lemhi Chief deputy running for sheriff
Updated at 12:51 pm, April 14th, 2016

Lemhi County Sheriff Chief Deputy Steve Penner has announced he is running for sheriff.

Penner’s decision comes after Sheriff Lynn Bowerman said earlier this year that he would not be running for re-election. . .
“I’m ready to roll my sleeves up and go to work”. County records show Penner is running unopposed.

New statement over at Klein investigations Facebook page:

Good Morning : We have begun to get emails, IM's and calls to our offices regarding those that state they will be going on their own to the camp site in Lemhi County ID. As we cannot prevent you from doing anything - we STRONGLY urge you to stay out of that area and the area (s) around the camp ground. There will be a professional team of search and rescue members in the next few weeks - along with dog teams - searching certain particular areas. We do not speak for Law Enforcement - however we are pleading to the public to please allow the professionals to do their jobs. We, along with Law Enforcement, are following strong evidence leads in certain areas. Again we ask you to stay out of the area. This search, we understand, will not be announced to the public, and will not include the general public as specialized equipment and dogs will be used

Video includes interview with locals, most of whom do not believe Deorr is up at campground. One local mom, who helped in the initial search, said "I highly doubt a 2 year old is going to walk up shale rock that's (something?) sliding everywhere." This is consistent with my own belief that Deorr could not have wandered away to the extent that he could not be found.
