Found Deceased NC - Alexandra King, 22, & Tatianna Diz, 20, Asheville, 27 Oct 2015 *Arrest*

Heavy police presence descended on the complex on Thursday. The women lived in unit 30, and detectives were in and out of the apartment throughout the afternoon wearing rubber gloves.

Family and friends say the two were texting with a man named "Pierre" on the night before they went missing.

Investigators say Pierre Griffin, 22, led deputies on a multi-county chase on Tuesday night. He is charged with first-degree murder in connection to the fatal shooting of Uhon Johnson that same night.

News 13 witnessed a detective taking photos of apartment 41, where Pierre Griffin has been staying, according to neighbors.

So this is apparently where the girls thought he needed a ride...

Burleson says Alex and Tatianna gave Griffin a ride to a nearby apartment complex Tuesday night, but within an hour their roommate could not reach them and got worried.

I wonder where that complex is or if it exists? Was a destination at another complex that he told the girls simply a total cover story?

Did anyone see the girls drop him at that complex or are they meaning that was the plan? If they did, what time did they do that - it's a narrow window of time between all these events?

Has LE has been seen at another complex checking out anything? If he was somewhere else even briefly it'd seem very possibly relevant.

And where that is that complex - whether a real or 'cover' destination - in relation to both where the car was found and Uhon's?

More on the blood :(

The two windows of the car were busted out and there was blood in the seat floorboards on both sides of the car.

Still more on the blood (video all these articles, BTW)

There is no way this is ending with these poor girls alive.

Family of Alexandra King's told News 13 when her father saw her vehicle on Wednesday, the windows were shattered and there was blood all over the inside.

The vehicle is now in police custody, being processed.

Alex King relative Janice Burleson, "there was blood on the passenger side and the driver side there was blood in the passenger side in the floor board and on the seat on the drivers side on the floor board and going down the side enough to where it ran out the side of the car."

If they somehow survived what were clearly massive injuries from the get go - and obviously to both with it all over the front driver and passenger sides - there's no way they'd survive 24+ hours later untreated with extensive blood loss/injuries :(

Talk about a massive understatement :ack:

In a press conference Thursday morning, Asheville Police Chief Tammy Hooper said there was quote "evidence in the vehicle that something occurred."

Police say both women are considered to be endangered.

8 a.m. - King's sister texts and calls Alex, but gets no response. A short time later, construction workers find King's VW Jetta near the New Belgium Brewery construction site on the banks of the French Broad River.

11 a.m. - Buncombe County Sheriff's Office receives a missing persons report from family of the two women.

12 p.m. - Relatives say King's Father sees his daughter's car at a wrecker service in Leicester with broken out windows and blood on the inside of the car.

I'm rereading...

Construction workers found the car (that we also learn has a considerable amount of blood in and sounds quite thrashed) and it ends up with a wrecking service and not in LE impound?

How did LE not have it impounded immediately? (It seems like it couldn't have been if dad saw it - and closely enough - to have specifics on an awful lot of blood in specifics places in and out of the car)

For that matter, how did a trashed car with blood all in it get moved out of the scene without LE spending significant time examining the specifics of where it was found??

The way it's laid out seems like LE wasn't really even involved?

Yet surely construction workers AND a tow service ALL didn't interact with the car (upon any part of the process of discovery and moving it) and see the state it was in with all the blood, etc. without either or both involving LE???

But yet if they did, how is dad having such access to the car plus it not even be impounded and LE never to have been said to have been pouring over the car AT the scene from the get go?

Also...

Given the (apparently) extremely bloody car, how are the girls anywhere but virtually right where the car was found?

There's entirely too much blood in the front, both driver and passenger side (with it even flowing out of the car) it doesn't seem possible that BOTH girls could have stumbled out and BOTH gotten far enough that they weren't found near the car somewhere.

And if it was that bloody, how could someone have concealed or disposed of them nearby without a substantial blood trail?

If it happened in the car, how did the car get to where it was BEFORE they were injured?

If whatever happened didn't happen to them in the car pretty much where it was found, whoever moved the car would have been covered in blood since the driver's side sounded to be the worst. Plus again it'd seem like you'd have the driver's foot prints.

It also doesn't seem like he had time between the crimes to kill or severely injure them, move them or move the car, and get to the next murder without some help or at least some help making that time frame work (or at least help with preventing detection having to make it all happen so quickly)

Seems far-fetched, but I wonder if anyone else is missing and no one has noticed?

TravellingBug, my thoughts precisely!

Something is either very wrong with the reporting or there must have been more than one person (Pierre Griffin + who?) involved.

My guess would be at this point that the reported time of the sighting and inspection of the car at the wrecking site by the father is either wrong or never happened at all. Some kind of misreporting, wouldn't be the first time we've seen this.

Or possibly there was someone else with Pierre and the girls in the car, maybe Uhon? Picture this: Pierre and Uhon are in the backseat, Pierre stabs or shoots the girls and kills them, Uhon freaks out and runs off and Pierre goes after him, killing him too. But where are the girls? PG must have moved the bodies either alone or with the help of another person (Uhon?). Or they were killed and dumped elsewhere and the car was then moved to where it was found. But then he would have blood on him.

Confusing!! :scared:

The car was partially submerged in the river. Asheville has a very active kayaking community. Unfortunately, I think they'll find the girls in the river this weekend, possibly many miles downstream.

This guy's behavior sounds like he was on bath salts. There was (or is?) a problem with that a few years ago in the area.

Praying for these two girls and their families. They look like such a happy, fun couple. Unfortunately it does not sound like there will be a good outcome. :(

I hope they are found so these lovely ladies family get some closure.
This guy is absolutely crazy.

Where is the link that says the car was submerged partially? I haven't heard that.

Where is the link that says the car was submerged partially? I haven't heard that.

Strangely, the blood description from this seems to be considerably less (unless they're minimizing it for some reason) than earlier things did.

I wonder if they really mean "broken out" or "broken in"?

Like could someone have been trying to get out of the car if it went partly into the water?

Could a shot have been fired from inside the car breaking it? (since another article is now saying a shooting happened near the car)

King's dark blue 1988 Volkswagen Jetta was recovered around 8 a.m. Wednesday on Craven Street at the edge of the French Broad River near New Belgium. Vannessa Diz, sister of Tatianna, said Thursday morning that authorities told the family that the car's front end was in the river but not completely submerged. The two front-windows were smashed and blood was on the driver's seat, she added. Police confirmed that the driver's window was broken out.

Also, the supposed destination Pierre wanted the girls to take him to:

Family members have been told that the women, who are partners, were taking Griffin to Deaverview Apartments, less than a mile away from their home, Vannessa Diz said.

Also the location of the apartment at Alex and Tatianna's place that Pierre had been at and why now revealed:

Griffin's girlfriend was house-sitting for her uncle in an apartment that is directly across from the one where the missing women live.

Still seems like they're insinuating more of a connection between the girls and Pierre than just from his GF's uncle living across from them...

Neither official would comment on the connection between Griffin and the women beyond confirming that there is "some connection" and that tie is being fully investigated.

Seems he wasn't around their complex much:

Residents at Canterbury Heights Apartments said they hadn't seen Griffin around the apartments much, but that the missing women were familiar faces.

Still really wish someone would say/ask if anyone's looked at a connection between the girls and Uhon...

Police Confirm Shooting Happened Around Car of Missing Asheville Women
http://www.wlos.com/news/features/t...d-Car-of-Missing-Asheville-Women-226125.shtml

Interesting...

Probably partly related to:

In addition to the police and fire departments and sheriff's office, N.C. Highway Patrol and State Bureau of Investigation were involved in the search, which began at 8 a.m. Two perimeters were set up, and forensic experts were using metal detectors on the gravel near the river bank.

Perhaps casings found with metal detectors?

Could gunshot residue be on the car also?

She said the riverfront area is being searched to "try to narrow down if we have a crime scene where that is." The car is still being processed for possible forensic evidence. Hooper said there was evidence in the car that "something" occurred but did not elaborate.

This guy's behavior sounds like he was on bath salts. There was (or is?) a problem with that a few years ago in the area.

SOMETHING seems funky about what seems to be a significant change in him, that's for sure!

It doesn't just seem to be kids who might have naively missed something or just not thought anyone they knew could do something like this when they knew Pierre earlier b/c here's teachers and more about his school years that seem to give no indication of any trouble at all - and apparently very bright!

A near 4.0 and challenging classes in HS, simultaneously taking college classes through a tech school program thing!

At Asheville High School, both former students and teachers told News 13 that Pierre Griffin, 22, was an excellent student with a near 4.0 GPA.

One teacher too upset with the recent news said Griffin was brilliant.

"Mr. Griffin was a student of promise," Asheville High School spokesman said, Charlie Glazener. "He took challenging courses and did well. And so for any teacher who cares about kids like our teachers do, this would certainly be a shock, and just a feeling of dismay."

<snip>

Griffin, while still in high school, was simultaneously enrolled at AB Tech in the the Fall of 2009 and Spring of 2010 earning college credits. Griffin graduated from Asheville High in June 2010.

Looks like his first crimes were both earlier this year...and neither violent crimes whatsoever.

In January 2015, police records show he stole earphones from the Kmart on Patton Avenue. Records also show he stole $800 cash and headphones from a guest staying in a hotel room at the Homewood Suites on Tunnel Road.

The guest who was robbed said hotel records show Griffin, who was part of the housekeeping staff, at the time was the only person to go in her room. He served one day of jail time after pleading guilty, but the victim said she received no restitution.

Earphones/headphones in both those incidents? :dunno:

Standout student, voluntarily taking challenging classes, simultaneously doing some college classes and favorable things from other sources about him standing up for kids who were bullied and looking out for others.

Then two non-violent crimes (both involving head/earphones) seemingly out out of the blue?

And then suddenly possibly the murders of 3 people months after that?

Video there also said someone (a neighbor) saw Pierre acting strange at the complex where Alex and Tatianna lived.

I'm assuming the guy later in the clip is the one they're saying said that.

But if that's the case, it actually seems he meant 3 weeks ago ashe said later in the video b/c he saw Pierre there but hadn't ever been around before and made him suspicious b/c he wasn't interacting with anyone and everyone else there did.

(I have to say I wonder if that might be if he was really only around initially b/c of his GF house sitting for her uncle? Not that I want to make an excuse for the dude!)

Or else the clip missed something at the start of it and meant someone saw him being suspicious around their place that night or something?

Thanks for the link-I missed that tidbit of info. Knowing the area like I do and anyone who has been at the brewery building site more recently then I-correct me if I'm wrong but I don't know where along that stretch of river bank a car could be partially submerged.

I think they probably found shell casings, is how they determined the car was involved in gunfire.

But yea this case is odd.

TIMELINE OF EVENTS

Tuesday:

9 to 10 p.m.: Alexandra King, 22, and Tatianna Diz, 20, are last seen leaving their residence at Canterbury Heights Apartments on Canteberi Court in northwest Asheville, according to the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office.

Sometime Tuesday night: The two give Pierre Lamont Griffin II, 22, a ride to Deaverview Apartments, according to Tatianna's sister, Vannessa Diz. Police have declined to confirm this. Deaverview is less than a mile from Canterbury Heights. Griffin's girlfriend was house-sitting for her uncle in an apartment that is directly across from the one where the missing women live.

10:34 p.m.: Asheville Police Department officers respond to Pisgah View Apartments in West Asheville for the report of a victim suffering a gunshot wound. Uhon Trumanna Johnson, 31, is transported to Mission Hospital, where he later dies of his injuries, spokeswoman Christina Hallingse said. She said Johnson and Griffin were acquaintances, but police have not commented on motive.

Later that night: After the shooting, Griffin flees in the victim's vehicle. A massive multiagency vehicle chase spanning three counties ensues. Griffin is shot by two Henderson deputies in Polk County around 11:30 p.m.

Wednesday:

8:03 a.m.: APD receives a call that an abandoned 1988 Volkswagen Jetta has been pushed down toward the bank of the French Broad River in the River Arts District near New Belgium Brewery. Authorities later determine this was the car that King and Diz were last seen traveling in.

9:53 a.m.: APD announces Griffin is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the Pisgah View shooting. He remains under custody in Spartanburg Regional Hospital in South Carolina, where he was transported for injuries suffered in the vehicle pursuit, police said.

11:06 a.m.: The two women are reported missing to the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office.

Thursday

9:37 a.m.: The Asheville Police Department confirms it is investigating a connection between the women and Griffin. Authorities have declined to elaborate on the connection.

11:30 a.m.: Multiple agencies hold a news conference in downtown Asheville announcing a search of the French Broad River involving boats and a helicopter. Police Chief Tammy Hooper says the women's whereabouts is unknown.
