Explosive quotes from van der Sloot / Holloway movie maker

Birmingham, Al (WIAT) A Dutch article about a movie on the Holloway case has provoked bitter online commentary.

Things have been quiet on the Joran van der Sloot front lately.

There’s been next to no news out of Peru as the murder inquiry grinds through a legal system with no guarantee of a speedy trial.

But while van der Sloot’s charges of legal misrepresentation and a coerced confession fade from the headlines, a firestorm of online commentary has broken out over a movie being produced by Dutch filmmaker Paul Ruven.

Sounds like he’s out to offend all involved…..but that’s nothing compared to the online comments van Bommel’s article has spawned.

The poor Flores Ramirez family....with Stephany's murder so recent, they now have to contend with the arrest of her youngest brother, Ricardo Flores Junior, age 20, due to a deadly traffic accident.

The truck he was driving hit a motorcycle, whose driver was killed instantly on Thursday evening, Aug. 5.

Although it is thought he may not have seen the motorcycle due to the dark, he was arrested for manslaughter, but released.

The first report says he was arrested and then released. And the second does not mention the arrest. So it's not clear to me whether or not he will be tried for manslaughter. I certainly hope not...how much suffering can one family endure!!

OMG! I'm just... speechless! How terribly tragic for everyone involved. :( Both families will be in my prayers.

I truly hope there wasn't any alcohol or anything involved and it was just a horrible, tragic accident. I can already see some trying to turn it into some sort of twisted conspiracy.

I'm sorry that the Flores family has yet another tragedy to cope with, and that the accident claimed the life of the motorcyclist. Sad and tragic.

Thanks, suzihawk, for the links tom the articles about the movie being made in Aruba. I found the information about the Aruban power structure--shaped by cronyism, a throwbak colonial mentality and the tourist industry--very enlightening. Many people in the US have always known that there was no interest in putting Joran in jail; it's interesting that now, after Stepheny's murder, news outlets are willing to acknowledge in print why Joran was never charged in connection to Natalee's disappearance.

Some Arubans may be more willing to acknowledge Joran's criminal behavior now that he has killed in Peru and will be tried in Peru. While his current crime certainly suggests that his video confessions about Natalee's deaths tell at least some of the truth, Joran's trial will occur in Peru, he will be imprisoned in Peru, and Aruban LE can cluck about "investigating" him in regard to the Holloway case--again--without ever doing anything, It is no doubt a relief to the Aruban power structure that Joran is off the board and now Peru's problem.

Speaking of Joran's roomie... if the following is true, it seems he ratted him out. (Rat pun intended.)

Joran Van Der Sloot Prison Break Foiled By El Payaso

The Enquirer says Joran van der Sloot, the 22 year-old Dutchman incarcerated in Lima's Miguel Castro Castro Prison for murdering 22 year-old Peruvian Stefany Flores, tried to get transferred to a hospital by giving himself a ruptured hernia through dehydration.

But his cellmate, infamous Colombian hitman Hugo "El Payaso" Trujillo, was wise to him and, allegedly, tipped off guards who, instead, brought an orderly to his cell to treat him.

According to The Enquirer, Joran hoped to escape from the hospital by posing as an orderly and flee to Cuba where, he figured, they'd be sympathetic and not turn him over to The States or Peru.

Definately an interesting read. Joran looks to have gained weight - his
face fuller. Same eyes but redness around them. He looks stressed and tired. He looks older somehow? Let's see ... add 35 years he may look seventy? I know that's mean. I apologize. Maybe 80! :waitasec:

I noticed that as well, marikesh. I'd not heard the word 'addiction' associated with sending him for counseling in the Netherlands until last night. It also seems like the supposed note he left for her when he left for Peru gets longer and more elaborate with each telling. She said that she was 'more than mad' and 'more than angry' when he left for Peru and avoided going for treatment. However, I've seen the screen shots of her FB myself where both she and Julia Renfroe are cheerily wishing him the best vacation ever right after he left. So, once again, she didn't seem to be distraught over his departure at all, IMO.

Moreover, she went right on with her life as far as accounts have it -
and, she made no effort whatever (that anyone has told) to intercede
and get Joran back, for his "treatment".

If this woman is so staunch in her facts she dispenses, what explains
her "facts" always turning out wrong? The number one fact being Joran.
It is as if she is denying Joran is in prison at all, on one level, while
trying to explain it away or even excuse it, on another level. Its inept
and sad.

So, I am not willing to believe that she purposely changed her story, depending on what language she was speaking.
[/quote]

What can any "story" change? This is real life, flesh and blood,
not a damned opera!

Ever since this latest Joran saga started I've had conflicting opinions on Anita. Initially I thought she was just one of the thousands of clueless people with zero parenting skills & had created a monster without even realizing it. Naturally she loves Joran, no matter what, but making excuses for him is just reprehensible. My sympathy for her is fading fast.

Actually I guess I'm one of the few that questions if she ever loved
Joran at all. The whole family strikes me as being highly programmed,
and only sometimes human? For example, I think Joran would have made
a wonderful ReichOberfheur!

Well said!! It's really sad that a lot of parents don't understand what their children REALLY need. Some are so focused on giving their children money & the things it can buy that they neglect to provide structure, discipline, emotional support & guidance, & other things that contribute to the development of a mentally healthy child.

That poor family!!!! Their lives were totally devistated by Stephanie's murder & now this. I suspect this terrible accident can, in some ways, also be attributed to Joran. Probably the entire family has been living on "auto pilot" ever since her death & his pre-occupation with it could have contributed to his not being as vigilant as he normally would have been.

I enjoy your post very much, and this is no biggie, but this Dr. was into researching speech pathology....and unethically so. Maybe another Dr. Wendell Johnson?

This probably was just a tragic accident, but my heart goes out to Stephany's family. They don't need another tragedy upon them right now. Even in the best circumstances, one has to be very diligent when driving around motorcycles as their drivers tend weave in and out of lanes constantly. A lot of times someone in a car, or worse yet, a truck, just can't see them. :( MOO

E! Channel is doing a special on JVDS right now (9 p.m. EST, Sunday 8/8).

Terrible tragedy. This poor boy. Probably wasin't wearing a helmet either. One of the reasons I won't ride a motorcycle. Burned my leg just setting on one once and decided they didn't like me. When cyclist weave in and out...especially in traffic, I think they are asking to be creamed....they should save those antics for racing or the open roads. But my antennae go up for them come good weather..particularly on two lane hwys. Prayers up for both families.

Same one. He first worked in Education and was one of the founders
in Ed Psych Measurement - developed some of the early testing batteries used by the Army WWII. He then went on to found a school of Speech Pathology & Audiology. Later a scandal surfaced with accusations of serious abuse of some of the 'volunteer subjects' used in his studies. I dont know how that got resolved, but Johnson and most of his colleagues in experimental psychology were deceased by that time.

The irony is Johnson was one of the few to ever formulate and write an actual thesis suggesting a real social-neurological component called "conscience" which he thought was related to "socialisation" in the individual, having consequences for education, social relations, etc. Johnson had something concrete in mind which he felt education should nuture, if it
could. His ideas were typical of his era coming out of WWII. He began as a practical problem
solver developing tests and statistical methods and ended as a kind of philosopher.

Here's the Enquirer's online story teaser:

"Van der Sloot's now jailed in the high-security area," an insider told The ENQUIRER, "and he's been told that a 'hit' has been ordered on him when he's transferred to the general population."

Knowing a hit has been ordered on him, "Joran knows his only chance for survival and future freedom is to be transferred to the medical wing."

The cyclist was apparently drunk and driving without lights. Hopefully that absolves the manslaughter charges. Still it's tragic for both families.

I don't put much faith in the Enquirer, but if it's true, that' pretty embarressing having to go to the hospital for constipation. I can't see him going to the hospital for anything unless he requires emergency surgery for some reason. JMO.

I, too, hope that no manslaughter charges are brought. However, this is still another burden & pain that Stephanie's brother will have to carry for the rest of his life. I have family who has been to Peru several times & they say that the driving there is absolutely crazy. Either there are very few traffic laws or the laws they have are ignored.
