Rumors: Fact Or Fiction?

Orignally posted by SeriouslySearching: Or...Melissa is a horrible liar who only wanted to insert herself into the case by pretending to have "inside" information to bolster her ego. The stories of the suitcase being stolen and the note seem to point in this direction, imo. She even inserted herself into the molestation/drugging case prior to this while proclaiming her "innocence".
Interesting. Are you saying that she might be lying about being involved? Did she begin giving these details after her hospital visit?
No. She is the perp. I just think she was trying to draw attention to herself as being in the know in a way to thumb her nose at LE and the rest of the world. She wanted the attention focused on her by making the comments she made, imo, but thought she had the upperhand over LE and the press.

She got out of the hospital on Thursday and the comments to the press were made on Friday. She was arrested early Saturday morning, but had been the focus of the investigation into the home and the church (which I don't think she was aware of...she thought it was her grandfather, imo).

What about Sandra saying she wanted to run away the morning before her dissappearance? Do we know anything about that?

There are a lot of unanswered questions and loopholes regarding the timeline of events that day. We also have to remember that MH has told 4 different versions of her story, so unless we know who said what, we really don't know if some of these details are true, like Sandra's sister babysitting. It's frustrating.

Like you said SS, how come reporters don't make such simple questions?

I agree with you about the unanswered questions and loopholes. But, I also didn't realize SAndra had said she wanted to run away that morning. If that is true why in the world was she not looked for before 2 hours of her being gone. And the alert was not issued until 8:00 that night. I don't understand that either. IMO

I did a little searching and found something which bothers me a little.
It seems the original story from the Tracy Press about the police looking into these 60 people has been removed. I can't find it anywhere on the Web.

("File not found")

It's gone from the Protect.org site too. ("Story not currently available.")

I found this from another message board with the original story link:

Police scrutinize viewers of child *advertiser censored*
http://tracypress.com/content/view/17700/2268/

"Computer-savvy cops in Tracy have identified about 60 people who view or exchange child *advertiser censored*, and police say they get extra attention as investigators search for the missing Sandra Cantu, 8..."

What's bothering me is why this original story which broke the news about the Tracy 60 has vanished...

___

I wish we had the answers to so many questions. It is troubling that Sandra supposedly mentioned running away and this woman did nothing. Then again, the reports could be wrong and Sandra never said it.

What bothers me about this that the LE knows people are committing a crime and yet no arrest. Viewing Child *advertiser censored* even in your own home is against the law. You only have the right to view adult *advertiser censored*, or animated child *advertiser censored*, or adults posing as children *advertiser censored*. Man, that all just sounds gross.

I can imagine that LE knows about people all over the country that are viewing *advertiser censored* on their computers--this is not a situation specific to Tracy.

Stories disappear all the time when you have a high profile case. Who knows why? It could be as simple as space for other stories. ;)

I know on our local news sites, stories are dropped from the website frequently.

ETA: I do wish we could keep the Tracy60 talk on that specific thread. It has in no way been connected to this case yet.

Yes, but it seems to be the ONLY story and now it's gone. Every other mention of it on the Web refers to it as the factual source.
At least that's what I've been able to discern from searching so far.

I am still not clear on if she was home or not. She was leaving the next day to go on vacation, but we don't know if she went early to her house. Evidently, Connie was home so she could have still been there. I only hope the reports of Sandra's sister babysitting are not true. Have we learned any more about that situation?

If Connie was there then there would be no need for Sandra's sister to babysit. If MH's daughter was going on vacation with grandma Judy wouldn't Sandra have known this? Why would she go over there to play if the daughter wasn't home. It seems MH's daughter would boost about a vacation with grandma?

She was supposedly turned away by Melissa when she went to play with her daughter. This could indicate she was not home and Melissa set her plan into motion at that point to abduct Sandra because she expected her to return.

We have to remember these stories are coming from Melissa. Hard to decifer her lies from any truth on the smaller things such as asking her sister to babysit without input from Sandra's family, Connie, or LE right now. The larger lies are transparent and easily figured out tho.

Okay, I'm going to relax a little.
I found another link with the story:

And you'll be happy to know I've bookmarked the Tracy60 thread for further reading. :)

Respectfully snipped.

This theory makes a lot of sense. Obviously Connie (MH's grandmother) is the only one able to set the record straight on this one, I wish she was asked: (1) was MH's daughter home? (2) did Sandra's sister babysit and why? (3) what's the deal with the keys and cell phone? Did she find them? (unconfirmed reports say they were found inside the luggage along with the body...).

Yes and the smallest oceans make big big waves. Grandma Judy is freaking me out or as you guys call it "Hinky Meter" The dial is on red!

I honestly think if they found Melissa's keys and phone inside the suitcase with the body...they would have arrested her immediately after inserting her key in the Kia and tackled the rest later.

I admit before we figured out who Melissa's mother was and that she was not in the media spotlight, I was suspicious of her. Now, I believe she is probably having a very difficult time dealing with her daughter being named as the lone perp. I can give her a little leeway on not stepping out into the glare of the media and public.

Refresh me on MH's mother please. Have we heard from her at all? TIA

On JVM just now: Reporter Bob Moffitt of KFBK said that the claim of possible child *advertiser censored* was investigated and LE found no evidence.
