GUILTY TX - Mollie Olgin, 19, killed, GF injured in Portland assault, 23 June 2012

Police chiefs and their lieutenants always have their emails available online. Google the police chief name and email and you will find them.

Will I be able to do it completely 100% anonymously? Thanks so much in advance again.

Well not by email, but since you aren't an actual witness to the crime a semi-anonymous email will probably suffice. Just say this individual looks like the guy in the sketch and provide FB links or whatever you can.

You could also just call the police department from a payphone and give them the info, that would be anonymous.

My local police department has an email form on its website that allows anonymous tips, and I believe also a smartphone app. Don't know how common that is, but worth looking into.

I'll have to look into all of these options. I'll be submitting my tip somehow by the end of today! Thanks everyone for your help... I hope these girls get the justice they deserve :rocker:

Ballerina, you can call them and request to remain anonymous. They have checked out many leads just like yours. I hope you have done this.

I've heard on the local news that they have a suspect in mind. I've heard he has been incarcerated in another state, but will be brought back and charged with this crime soon. I hope so!!!!:please:

(David) Strickland faces capital murder, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated assault with a weapon charges, the agency said.

Also arrested on Friday was his wife Laura Strickland, 23, Portland police said in a release published to their Facebook page. She allegedly tampered with evidence.

'We are confident that we have the person responsible for this horrific crime in custody,' Portland police said. 'There is still a lot to do in order to prepare the case for prosecution. The families involved will never be the same, but it is our hope that the Olgin and Chapa families will at least feel some form of closure on this chapter of life.'

Arrest warrants were issued for David Malcom Strickland, 27, who was suspected in the investigation by Portland Police Department and Texas Rangers on charges involving capital murder, aggravated assault with a weapon, and aggravated sexual assault.

David Strickland Indicted on Charges of Capital Murder
Strickland's attorney, John Gilmore, said he does not have a comment at this time and is waiting for the discovery phase to see what evidence the District Attorney has. Strickland's wife, Laura Strickland, is out on a $150,000 bond. Her case is still pending.

David Strickland was arrested in January for burglarizing his former roommate’s home. But then police in south Texas learned of his arrest and claim evidence found in Layton, UT, linked him to a murder of a young woman and the attempted murder of her same-sex partner...

“They (Texas police) asked us if we were in possession of certain items, which we were,” says Lt. Hinojosa. “They were relevant to their case.”

Those items seized included a handgun and black gloves. Lt. Hinojosa says ballistic tests matched bullet casings found at the crime scene. The young woman who survived identified the suspect as wearing black gloves with the “Under Armour” logo. Texas police claim residue from the gunshot was found on the gloves.

Attorneys for accused killer: witness could exonerate client
Attorneys for the man accused of shooting and raping two women in a Portland park say there's a key witness to the crime that could exonerate their client.

David Strickland's attorneys wrote in court documents that a man from Henderson, Nevada "can provide evidence that is highly exculpatory to ... Strickland."

They argued to a judge on Friday that a Nevada man be taken into custody and compelled to testify in Strickland's trial.

Visiting Judge Philip Kazen of San Antonio said he was likely to grant a subpoena but wouldn't order the man be taken into custody as they requested. Prosecutors' only objection was to the Nevada man being taken into custody, a step they argued was "unnecessary" because there was no indication he would be unwilling to testify.

Jury convicts Strickland of capital murder for Portland park shootings

http://www.kristv.com/story/33266376/jury-convicts-strickland-of-capital-murder-for-portland-park-shootings

A San Patricio County jury has returned a guilty verdict against David Strickland for the 2012 shootings that killed Mollie Olgin and critically wounded Kristene Chapa. Prosecutors were not pursuing the death penalty, therefore the defendant was given an automatic life sentence.

Following the verdict, Kristene Chapa spoke to KRIS 6 News. "I was very shocked at first. I didn't know what to expect exactly, I was hoping that they (the jury) would see all the evidence that we had and they would go our way. (It was) very emotional.. I wanted to just burst out in tears," said Chapa.

She told reporter Caroline Flores that she'll always carry the mental and physical scars of the attack and suffer from the loss of her girlfriend, Mollie. Megan Olgin, Mollie's sister, said, "She was only 19. She didn't get to live her life. He took that away from her." Olgin went on to say, "I'm just happy that it's finally over. The jury saw the evidence and now finally there's justice. It doesn't bring her back. But at least he can pay for what he did."

Motion: Suspension should reverse murder conviction - October 28th

http://www.caller.com/story/news/2016/10/28/san-patricio-prosecutor/92893094/

A San Patricio County prosecutor and candidate for district attorney was suspended from practicing law when he secured a capital murder conviction last month in a highly publicized case.

Samuel Boyd Smith’s inability from Sept. 1 until he was retroactively reinstated Wednesday is the first point an appellate criminal defense lawyer argues in a motion for a new trial for David Malcom Strickland. The motion was filed on Thursday.

Strickland was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in the double shooting of two teenage girls at a Portland Park in 2012. The bodies of Mollie Judith Olgin and her girlfriend Mary Kristene Chapa were found in brush by a couple of bird watchers. Olgin was dead and Chapa survived but lost functionality on one side of her body.

Judge denies motion for new trial, but allows new test

However, Judge Philip Kazen of San Antonio granted Strickland's request for a specific type of DNA testing to be performed on a pubic hair that had been found on Chapa.

The testing can identify a person's eye and hair color and ethnicity, among other details, Strickland's new lawyer, Cynthia Hujar Orr said. Before Strickland's trial, the hair underwent a less certain visual comparison and Strickland's hair was excluded, his trial lawyer, John Gilmore of Corpus Christi testified.

Strickland has maintained he is innocent and his trial lawyers argued another man was the shooter.

The judge suggested if the DNA result is favorable for the defense, a court of appeals could reconsider Strickland's conviction. That process could take years, San Patricio County District Attorney Sam Smith said.
