About the impact of false allegations -

“Similarly, in Delphi police swarmed a home on Bicycle Bridge Road to serve a warrant for a man who quickly was dismissed as a suspect.

"You talk about a nightmare," the man from Anderson said, 23 years after the crime. He asked not to be identified.

"I got assaulted two or three times because of it," he said last week. "Most didn’t see the news blurb that I was in church.

"The girl I was dating, we broke up because of that."

Delphi police publicly cleared the man from the search warrant on Bicycle Bridge Road, but threats were posted on social media, prompting authorities to again tell people not to harass the man because he was not involved in the killings....”

High-publicity investigation means keeping a low profile

I picture a gun showing the way....guys...this way. He's in total control.
Adding to your thoughts, does anyone recall the video by GH showing the route taken to drop off the girls at the trail? IIRC BP provided the information. I’m wondering if it included the actual location where they were dropped off as well.

Another question to piggyback this one: If the drop off location was nearer the North end of the bridge, was the pick up location to be in the same spot or was it supposed to be at the South end?

That's an interesting way to look at it.
I think it's more like gathering information, and collecting pieces of a puzzle to see if they fit. They know how to put the pieces together but have to weed through and eliminate the unnecessary pieces. We may have one piece of the puzzle to contribute but they have the tools and the knowledge to make it complete. Imo

The police are almost completely dependent on the public. They say so often. Cases are broken by people telling them things which they
follow up on.
You just made me think of something. Did not somebody leave Law Enforcement after this happen, and said he would come back if things changed. And now he is back? I'm trying to remember the specifics and I can't, but perhaps he was somebody who did not believe the original thing and left, and now that they have changed directions he is back on? I'm not sure if I'm making myself clear on this, but perhaps somebody understands.

Yes
the old Delphi DA Robert Ives.
He is sworn back in to the DA's office this month, but as a team member. His successor DA swore him in.
Delphi DA Nicolas McLeland.

I've seen a lot of amateur "enhancing" of the bridge picture. They literally sent that image to everyone from Disney to NASA and it's as focused and clear as it's going to be. The best technology in the country has been used to clean up that image.

This is the first time I've posted but I wanted to share some of my thoughts with everyone...

  • My first thought when looking at the newly released sketch is...he has a 'baby face'
    • I see chubby cheeks...and if he has reddish/brown hair I could see them possibly reddening easy
    • I also think that this could tie into the POI looking younger than he actually is
    • I feel like he is in the age range of 20-30 at this time
      • I know the voice sounds deep and of an older person...but I'm from southern Indiana and I know many people in that age range with some very deep voices
  • I feel like he has to be local and extremely comfortable with that area...the park/bridge/roads the whole 9 yards
    • I feel like he grew up there and spent a large amount of time in that park and probably knew the area like the back of his hand
      • Perhaps this park/trail area is/was indeed his 'backyard' so to say
    • In the very, very short clip of video that has been provided I get a very confident vibe from him, hands in pockets and walking closer to the edge of the bridge than most generally would
  • More on the video clip...
    • I feel like whatever the POI is wearing is probably irrelevant at this point...law enforcement is more interested in people examining his behavior and movement than they are with what he has on in the video
      • That leads me to believe that whatever they have determined that he has on is something that is very ordinary to the area...nothing that is going to jump out at someone to be recognizable or memorable...more than likely neutral toned/plain shirts, boots or hiking shoes of some sort and basic blue jeans.
  • I do not feel like Abby and Libby were planned targets, I think this was a completely random act and they were unfortunately in the wrong place at the wrong time.
    • I feel like the probably had some sort of 'kit' with him so to speak...but we have no idea what sort of weapons he had on him at the time
      • Regardless...it doesn't take a whole lot of room to hide a knife, gun, taser, or anything of that sort
  • I also feel like the attacker is someone that is maybe not very popular with the ladies.
    • Maybe in his day to day life he's a very insecure and introverted person
    • I feel like Valentine's Day played a big role in this attack, perhaps he was turned down for a date or maybe a girl he had been talking to either in person or online ended things abruptly with him..."ghosted him" if you will.
    • I sense rage as well...which unfortunately leads me to think that a knife was maybe involved...knives are usually used in more rage filled killings...at least that's the theory I have.
  • For some reason I get this vibe that he has a very overbearing mother...
    • I feel like she may be the one that is involved with the church and maybe drags him along
    • She could also be a school teacher in the area
    • I feel like she was/is very strict with what he does/wears...maybe she even buys his clothes still? That could explain the plainness of them and the 'dad jeans'
    • I think that the officer could have been referring to his mother when he said "what are those closest to you going to think when they find out what you've done?"...like what is your mother going to think of you when she finds out you did this? ...and I feel like that will bother him a great deal
  • I also do not think that he himself has children
    • I think he could be an uncle or have younger siblings...maybe around the age of Abby and Libby
  • I've been trying to think about how he got the girls to 'obey' him...I think they probably assumed and he probably even told them that if they did as he said and 'obeyed' him that he'd let them go.
    • I could see him handcuffing them together or something as well, to keep them corralled so to speak...that way he didn't have to worry about one taking off or one trying to attack or overpower him in some way
      • I don't think either girl would have willingly left the other one...but how would he know that?
  • I haven't really sat and thought about the car or any of that part of this puzzle yet...but hopefully somebody finds this random babbling of mine somewhat insightful.

Clearly this is all my own opinion and I have no actual clue as to what took place on that day.

Here ya go. Can make his face out better in this one.
edit- yes I'm an idiot I forgot to post the actual link the first time. lol

This is sort of uncomfortable to watch knowing what he was going to do.
It's the first time I have thought his chin is partially obscured by the black and white thing. It seems to stand out away from his body partly. And I think I could detect the black is part of it, not just a white thing.

Or maybe he chose them because he knew they would first be suspected runaways and that would buy him some time.
Ugh. I hate that this is what is always initially thought.
And as others have mentioned, he does look like he is mouthing words or talking to himself, very creepy!
I’m pretty sure he’s saying “Yanny” or it could be “laurel”

The girls were dropped off nearer the south end of the bridge, but this is a valid point. I wonder where pickup was meant to be.

I'm sure this has been discussed. I thought I saw a shadow to Abby's left on the photo of her on the bridge. Wouldn't she be walking in a southerly direction for that to happen?

LE have never disclosed how many tips they received. Could be even more than two for all we know.

I’m certain the murderer would like to know as well especially if he had the opportunity to implicate another POI.
What, if LE is showing us the video of BG as being the murderer, until this man will come from the sunken, finally admitting: he is the man in the video, but isn't the murderer? Maybe the real murderer was waiting for him down the hill, perhaps for a drug deal? - My thoughts at that time now.

Welcome to WS!

I commented on that very thing a while ago but no one said anything back to me about it...Stood out to me right away. Not something you see around these parts anymore, especially on a man.

Men here used to carry pistols in them [waist packs] back when that would have been a misdemeanor. They're still sold for concealed carry, but I don't see them anymore (and the ones I have seen didn't look like that).

There is no way this Perp could be living in that small town and not be identified.

He must be from a surrounding town. Connected through an opposing softball team, soccer team the girls played, or?

Amateur opinion and speculation
I agree he is probably from one of the many many surrounding communities, but I doubt he has any connection to them. The rushed nature of the crime (based on what we know and speculation) shows someone who took an opportunity not someone who premeditated it to the extent that they planned to specifically target them.

Anyone else having a hard time looking at this new sketch and seeing similarities with BG in the video? I know the quality of the video stills are relatively poor, but still, it’s just hard to see the resemblance, anyone else struggling with this?

Nope. I am too. It just always looked like an older guy to me- 40's through 60's.

Welcome and great post! I agree with all your points. My only difference is he may not have been dumped by an ex but planned the whole sick thing as a “gift” to himself.
I think he gave himself a due date which is why he was so brazen.

I'll be blessed. I'll have to edit my posts. I was basing my recollection off of GH's video tour of the bridge and thought I remembered it as the girls walking from south to north. As there aren't any compass markers on the Google Earth overlay, I've got it wrong. Will edit my post.
