I wonder what happened with this vehicle. (And what happened about the car part they were looking for in the forest.) With the time that this vehicle was seen leaving Benaroon Drive, you’d think it would be pretty important to locate.

"In addition, we have received reports of a four-wheel-drive vehicle driving out of Benaroon Drive around the time William vanished.
"This is of interest to us because we have also received information about a four-wheel-drive vehicle driving at speed in the Kendall area shortly after.

It sounds as if police think it could be the same vehicle in the reports they received, so you’d think they have more of a description than ‘a 4-wheel drive’. Like maybe a colour or something. I wonder why they didn’t elaborate?
They gave the colours of the other 3 vehicles.

BBM, This kind of jogs a memory somewhere way back in this case and don't know if anyone else here remembers, but my recollection about a white 4WD, vehicle speeding. And didn't some guy in the area try and pick up a 9 yr. old boy on his way home from school in a white 4WD?

I found this elsewhere and hope it ok. to post, and it's from an older article but the yahoo link doesn't work anymore'

A man has tried to entice a young boy into his car close to the area on the NSW mid north coast where police searched for evidence in the William Tyrrell case.

Police don't believe there is any link between the alleged approach to the nine-year-old on Thursday and the suspected abduction of the toddler nearly six months ago.

The boy was allegedly approached at 3.15pm while walking along Ocean Drive in Lake Cathie.

He was reportedly told to get in the car before he ran from the scene and alerted his mother.

Police are investigating the incident.

Lake Cathie is about 25 kilometres from Kendall, just south of Port Macquarie, where three-year-old William disappeared while playing in the yard of his grandmother's home in September.

It's also close to a search zone where investigators spent three days this week looking for evidence related to the Tyrrell case.

"There's no evidence to suggest this matter is connected to any other incident being investigated by police," a NSW police spokesman said on Friday.

Police are looking for a tall man, aged in his early 40s, with a grey goatee who was driving a white Toyota 4WD.

It's believed the vehicle may have Queensland registration plates decorated with palm trees.

But in the article it says police don't believe there is any link to do with WT.

It sounds as though Spedding's 10-page statement was probably taken by police well before January ... "soon after William went missing".
Then the police found inconsistencies, no doubt checked them out - grandma's phone activity, his phone activity and pings, witnesses at the assembly, staff and customers at Buzz Cafe, washing machine repair in Dunbogan at 2pm, check when the part for grandma's washing machine arrived, perhaps CCTV, whether he had or had not arranged to fix grandma's washing machine that day, whatever else we don't know about - then got a search warrant, then searched his home and business properties in mid-January.

"Mr Spedding took part in a 10-page recorded interview with detectives soon after little William went missing on the day the tradesman was due to fix the toddler’s grandmother’s washing machine.

As they checked out everyone’s statements about where they were on that Friday, detectives allegedly found some inconsistencies in what Mr Spedding told them which led them to raid his former pawnbroking office in Laurieton and his home at Bonny Hills this week."

The mother who wants her child back said she was informed by FACs in December it was investigating Mr Spedding but would not tell her why.
The same month Port Macquarie detectives tried to contact her, she said,

Police have investigated some alleged inconsistencies in what he told them about his movements on September 12 but have stressed the search of Mr Spedding’s home and business was just one line of inquiry and not a breakthrough in the baffling case.

A STRIKE Force including sex crimes investigators has been established following William Tyrell’s disappearance, five days after the three-year-old went missing near Kendall............................
Strike Force Rosann is based at Port Macquarie and includes detectives from the Mid-North Coast and Manning-Great Lakes Local Area Command.
But it also includes officers from the State Crime Command and Forensic Services Group, in the strongest sign police are now focusing more on the investigation of how, or why, the little boy disappeared. The State Crime Command, under its Serious Crime Directorate, investigates sex crimes as well as disappearance cases.
A team of 30 specialist detectives and analysts has been searching for clues, doorknocking and scouring phone records. They’ve been interviewing known sex offenders in the area, in nearby towns and in caravan parks. They’ve hit a brick wall, too, Fehon says. There were reports someone had dropped into the local general store and asked for directions to Benaroon Drive. Fehon says they are glad to receive all information and have followed up all leads, but, tellingly, no alert has been issued about that person or their vehicle. If there was solid evidence, they would want to get it out to the public...............

Police said the investigation has been widened to include the possibility that someone came in from out of the area who may know more.
“We are appealing for anyone who saw any people or vehicles in the vicinity of Benaroon Drive or in the Kendall township on Friday to contact police.”

20 Sept 2014
He’s chided the media when questioned about the involvement of the sex crimes unit. Really, do the family need know that at this time? He’s tried to shield William’s parents, but he just cannot say the only words they want to hear. “We’ve found your son.”
So he tells them what he tells me. “We have a starting point, and that is the house. We are being totally honest in providing everything we can. We have uncovered no new lead to be able to say we have a new starting point.”
It is baffling when you see from where it was he vanished. It’s bewildering, too, in this era of electronic footprints, when a person’s phone is their personal tracker, that someone can disappear without a trace and nobody, or no machine, has seen a thing.......
William’s wider family has been thoroughly investigated and interviewed, too. Their alibis have been declared sound — they were hundreds of kilometres away when William disappeared

20 Dec 2014

Homicide Squad boss Detective Superintendent Michael Willing said his investigators still had not determined what happened to the toddler, but had control of the case to ensure it was thoroughly investigated.
“We want to do a thorough investigation to determine what’s happened to William and obviously we need to consider the worst case scenario,” Supt Willing said.
“But we have no evidence to suggest any particular scenario at this stage.

So BS was investigated by facs and Port local detective in December 2014. Rosann working out of Port.

When did AJ get arrested was it the 15 or 26 September?

Tellingly, no alert issued about cars.....strategy.

December Homicide take the lead.

Yes I think BS and others may have been interviewed much earlier than January, SA ...

imo.

PBs and TJs cars ended up at friends houses or interstate

With hiding things, I'm drawn to that saying, "Where do you hide a book? In a library". So with the cars, maybe a 2nd hand car sales lot? MOO

I find this quite interesting. Has this shopping centre been specifically targeted with information about William ?
If we weren't discussing this here, and I saw that at my local shopping centre then I would assume it was at all shopping centres. I'm in Brisbane though, and I hardly hear a word about William. I have never seen posters or electronic advertising about him.

Makes me think that perhaps that particular area is being targeted for a reason....

I hadn't seen the area mentioned anywhere regarding William Tyrrell.
However, it IS the area where Daniel Morcombe was murdered. During the investigation all locals were shocked to their foundations to discover how many known paedophiles were in the area.
Interesting that not similar info being publicised in Brisbane.

Apparently, the Qld sighting was in Central Queensland. I think that means the interior of the state.
Ochre Blue's post said the shopping centre with the huge posters of William is in SE Qld.

Makes you wonder though. What is strategic about that shopping centre? Is it owned by someone whose heart is so close to William's story that they put all the posters up? Do POIs live in the area? Do many travellers pass through that shopping centre?
I wonder who made the posters.

"The photograph, captured in central Queensland, filled investigators with hope."

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/william-t...-false-hope-12-months-on-20150903-gjenjz.html

The shopping centre is on the Sunshine Coast.
Known tourist area.
I don't know if POI live in area.
The info was on very large electronic display boards & in many places throughout that major shopping centre.
I had assumed that it must also be the case for other locations.
I've been a long term WSer on William Tyrrell case. Was so 'glad' to see such prominent displays about the reward on 2nd anniversary of WT disappearance.

There might be a Squeaky Beach at Alexandra Headland, Sunshine Coast, Queensland...however I say 'might' because if you search 'squeaky beach' in Google Street View it comes up with the Breakfree resort at Alex Heads and then the Victorian option. Maybe a local name for the beach rather than official one. It's about 15-20 minutes drive from Sunshine Plaza.

I'm a Sunshine Coast local (imported from South Aus), but haven't heard of the beach at Alex Headlands being referred to as Squeaky Beach.
However, it could be past of the local lingo AND the beaches here are very pristine.

I have been holidays in that area since I was a very small child ( a lonnnnng time ;) ) and I have NEVER heard a beach called that on the Sunshine Coast. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist but I am familiar with the area

In my opinion--it is more likely that the tendency evidence is evidence of rape/sexual assault upon the complainant's sister, who is not participating as a complainant herself; rather than that there is an application to conjoin trials with different complainants.

The trial is joined, as the charges are being heard in one trial; rather than separate trials for each alleged offence (see MSM article at the bottom of this post). However, that wasn't the point of the original post:

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...-12-September-2014-24&p=12808794#post12808794

The excerpts from the case (R vs Hughes) were used to explain and give examples of the use of tendency evidence in a case where there was one, or multiple, complainant(s) of historical child sexual abuse:

http://www.sydneycriminallawyers.co...rials-have-been-separated-in-the-hughes-case/

Nevertheless, BS is facing one trial where multiple charges of child sex offences against multiple complainants will be heard ie; 'five charges, including sexual intercourse with a child under 10 and common assault' 'of two children' alleged to have taken place 'in a caravan in Campbelltown...', ie; a 'joinder' as the 'Crown Prosecutor is relying on [wanted to allege] tendency evidence between the two victims...'.

William 'Bill' Spedding makes bid for stay on child sexual assault case
The Sydney Morning Herald
Ava Benny-Morrison
September 7 2016

'William "Bill" Spedding will fight to have allegations he sexually assaulted two children thrown out of court.'

'However the application for a stay on proceedings was put back to February next year.

Mr Spedding's trial, expected to run over three to four weeks, was also moved to Sydney's Downing Centre District Court.

His stay application is expected to be heard before his trial begins.'

'The 65-year-old was charged last year over the alleged sexual assault of two children in the 1980's in a caravan in Campbelltown in Sydney's south-west.'

'Crown prosecutor Craig Everson said the prosecution would rely on tendency evidence between the two alleged victims and other allegations not the subject of charges on the indictment.'

'Mr Spedding is facing five charges, including sexual intercourse with a child under 10 and common assault.'

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/william-b...hild-sexual-assault-case-20160907-grako8.html

btw In my opinion JLZ, you can bet your bottom dollar that the defence strategy is to have the charges heard separately, resulting in a trial for each alleged offence and in the hope more pressure can be brought to bear on the victims.

reposting this link from ages ago, it has lots of interesting photos from fairfax photos by photographer MAX MASON-HUBERS
if the photos dont come up type kendall into the search option, if you click on a photo you see more,
lots of photos of the eerie, dense forest behind williams grandmothers, a deep looking well and one of the neighbours who was first on scene etc

Bohemian, you may be right. Though 'allegations' is not the same as 'charges' and I'd like to see what the actual charges, as they stand now (not last year) say about the number of victims. It sounds like there will be evidence of offences against several children, but I'm not sure whether he's facing trial in respect of all those events.

thankyou but no, i was posting that link more for the comment about bs someone had posted below the article on that page
I saw that video. It wasn't obscene but raised my eyebrows under the circumstances.
