I can assure you that Sacramento County Sheriff's Office are in fact still investigating this case. I had information that suggested another Missing Person case out of Mendocino County Sheriff's Office (Katherine LaMadrid) could be the victim in this case and contacted Deputy Kneeland last year. Deputy Kneeland confirmed they already ruled out K. LaMadrid as their victim, via DNA. As a former MCSO Detective myself, it is time consuming to update all public database sources, while working both cold and active cases, patrol duties and/or special events as assigned, all at the same time. Especially if your agency does not have in-house staff to help with those functions. Not saying that's what's happening at SCSD, but it is real at smaller agencies. I pray for closure for all of our missing and unidentified cases! Thanks for everyone's continued help on these cases.

"In 2021, Investigators began a Genetic Genealogy Investigation. As a result of this investigation, the victim has been identified as Shannon Vielguth (Born 1969). Her identity has been confirmed with the DNA of a close family member. Vielguth used several last names, including Judkins, Hutchings and Joyce. Investigators learned Vielguth was transient during the 6 months prior to her murder, staying in Missouri, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Colorado, Nevada, and California. Based on law enforcement records, Vielguth was most likely in Reno NV and Sacramento in October of 2004 which coincides with the time she was most likely killed."
