CA - Norma Lopez, 17, abducted & murdered, Moreno Valley, 15 July 2010 *Arrest*

IMO, there is very little chance this is NOT Norma's killer. Why is LE pussyfooting around it?

Law enforcement officials would not say Wednesday whether Lazarus Tasby, 25, was considered a suspect in the case. The family attorney said Tasby was not being sought as a suspect in Norma's death.

There is a lot more relevant information in that article, including that Tasby used to work at Norma's high school until Nov. 2009 and resigned for "personal reasons" after his Oct. 2009 arrest on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute. I hope LE is getting close to solving Norma's murder. MOO

Between the green SUV, location of the house and the information we've gotten so far, I agree. MOO

Don't forget that here in CA LE does not release too much info. They put the case together and only say what they have to.

True. I just hope they're putting it all together in a nice, airtight package for the DA.

I'm not sure if this is appropriate, but I found a link to images about Norma and specifically Tasby's facebook profile. Please let me know if I'm not following the rules in posting this.

I think that's okay since he has been named in MSM, news & papers.

totally fine. What gets out of bounds is linking to all the friends and digging up info on everyone and their brother. let's hang on as far as posting too much info about this dude until we hear more from LE.

Yes that is Amandareckonwith's photobucket account if I'm not mistaken.

Amandarecokonwith is a valuable member here and puts together case photo files for us on a great many cases.

HTH.

This might be the one.

Norma's sister Elizabeth said the family had seen security video of Norma walking home that day. There was a green SUV parked at/near the school.
An eyewitness saw a green SUV speeding off away from the field where Norma's purse was found.

Hoping, hoping, hoping it isn't crummy reporting and that they have the guy.

btw, here is Norma Lopez case archive album:

Bump.

Here is the entire album.

opps I'm sorry Jbean was all over it :blushing: :D

I looked up his record and in addition to the one mentioned upthread, he also has done a LOT of commmunty service for small infractions like playing music too loud and speeding with an FTA.

Thanks guys. I'm still learning. This case horrifies me. I homeschool my son right now, and think I will homeschool my little daughters as well but I hate to admit it is partly because our little girls are so vulnerable in this world. There are so many predators.

Court records indicate a Lazarus Tasby was arrested for disorderly conduct and prostitution in October 2009. Attorney Miles Clark did say Tasby was arrested for a misdemeanor, but wouldn't say for what.

Wait a minute.... was he arrested for prostitution or soliciting a prostitute?

It's not everyday you see a guy get arrested for prostitution.
he goes back to court for this in October, it is still pending. he has had several continuances and is not allowed to go on a certain street corner;presumably where he was arrested.
He actually just had a court appearance 8/27/10.

ETA: This is the actual charge:

California Penal Code 647 (b)

Despite the fact that prostitution is known as the “oldest profession in the world,” it is still prosecuted aggressively as a criminal act. Prostitution, simply put, means to engage in a sexual act in exchange for money or other consideration (that is, other goods or services).

California prostitution law under Penal Code 647(b) PC prohibits
  • engaging in the act of prostitution, and
  • offering or agreeing to engage in a sexual act (otherwise known as “solicitation”).1

I know the memorial service is scheduled for his morning. The LE might be waiting until after the service to make any announcements out of respect for the family? It does seem strange that they are sitting on this- can't help thinking there will be others charged in relation to this crime.

I agree and also as soon as someone's named a suspect they usually "lawyer up" and stop cooperating. :banghead: MOO

I'm sorry, but we are starting to take a harder line here at WS about posting fundraising information. There are too many scams and unscrupulous people out there.

Thanks for understanding,

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (CBS/KTLA) In a seemingly significant breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of Norma Lopez, police served a search warrant on a home near the field where police believe Norma was kidnapped, and seized a green SUV, a car that matches descriptions given by witnesses of one seen leaving the spot where Norma was last seen.
