(CNN)He's a once-aspiring Marine with a history of run-ins with the law. A one-time community college student convicted three times in New York, including for second-degree assault. A former American Iron Works worker now charged with murder in the death of the man who led that company -- Savvas Savopoulos -- and his family.

The man suspected of brutally killing a family of three and their housekeeper in a northwest Washington, D.C., mansion last week was arrested late Thursday night in a traffic stop across town, capping a manhunt that had expanded to New York.
Daron Dylon Wint, 34, who had once worked for the company run by one of the victims, is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday afternoon.

Someone on the Watts family thread mentioned Savopoulos, which prompted me to check for updates. Wow - the trial is finally starting! I followed this case very closely when it happened, but haven't been actively keeping up for a long time. I don't usually stick around for trials, but I definitely will be watching the court action with all of you.

Still so many questions....will they be answered in court, I wonder? Or, will everything hinge on the pizza crust?

At the end of the last thread there was some discussion of employee / ransom-dropper JW’s possible involvement in the crime. I agree that Wint’s brother / fam member is a far more likely co-conspirator, including because Wint has refused to give up his identity.

But also JW’s role, if any, was probably far smaller than Wint’s, so giving him up would do little for Wint beyond remove a potential bargaining chip.

Also worth pointing out that JW was a family employee so his DNA should’ve been all over the cars and most likely the home. If, as said, LE got a jailhouse tip on an accomplice who couldn’t be matched through DNA, apparently that alleged accomplice was someone other than JW.

WASHINGTON - Opening statements were made Tuesday in the trial of Daron Wint, the man accused of killing three members of the wealthy Savopoulos family and their housekeeper more than three years ago in their D.C. home.

According to FOX 5's Melanie Alnwick, four jurors notified the court of possible issues before the trial began. Alnwick said several remaining "qualified" jurors were being questioned.

Alnwick also said that Wint's defense team alleges his brothers, Stefon and Darrell, tricked him into going to the house on the day of the crime. She said the defense team also stated that Jordan Wallace, a Savopoulos personal assistant who delivered the ransom to house the day of the murders, may have been involved.
