Ebola outbreak - general thread #2

These Press Conferences should just be titled Pat on the back time since the TX public has no faith in us.

I really don't ! I had a lot of faith at the first of the week that it would be contained, properly addressed , follow the book to the letter on all procedure and I didn't have anything to worry about. Being in DFW and seeing all these pressers and the following news reports makes me feel more and more concerned every hour. I'm worried about Heather Hays from Channel 4 fox news, who sat 2 feet away from Thompson, the health director less than 24 hrs after he went into the apartment with no protective gear on whatsoever and was said to be ' quarantined' after having done so but was not.
If its' so difficult to catch, how did the Dr from Ft Worth get it in Africa 2 months ago? He would obviously be wearing protection and following all protocol and knew the risk. And he got it ! So there is a ' missing link' somewhere that is doing my head in.

Thanks for all the answers regarding the patent guys!! I really appreciate it. Makes more sense now

CDC officials rushed to the jet, which had just completed a seven-hour flight across the Atlantic.
Officials removed a father and daughter from the plane, and they were taken to quarantine at University Hospital in Newark, the law enforcement source said.
The remaining 261 people on board were cleared to go through customs, the source said.
The plane landed at Gate 53, Terminal B.

Newark Liberty International Airport recently has been declared one of just 20 quarantine stations around the country designed to combat the deadly international Ebola epidemic and identify potential cases before they leave the airport.

I completely fail to comprehend how all those other passengers were "cleared to go through customs."

Either the father or daughter were vomiting, or both, in an enclosed space, and people in hazmat suites are brought in to escort them off, and then everyone else are just all good to go

Maybe they figured out they weren't from Africa?

Hippa laws would prevent the hospital from giving information on patient to anyone unless he signed papers saying they could update certain people.. I'm guessing he was too sick to put names down for even blood relatives... Nice though all other passengers went on their way.. Ugh!

That's the quickest ebola diagnosis I've seen yet!

Whew... CNN is on the case. They are sending someone to the airport.

Can't wait to see Don Lemon decked out in hazmat gear

I can see it now...."this is Don Lemon live from Newark where we've just learned......oh damn guys, cut, cut I gotta pee!"

I am seriously starting to think we are being lied to about this.. It's a lot worse than they are telling us.. JMO

What I don't get is why did we just start hearing about people being screened for Ebola after the Duncan event? Surely people who have been in W Africa have been going to hospitals with theses symptoms forever.
