The discarded mobile, from upthread, led police to the apartment-hotel where the syringes/pizza boxes were found ( not the St Denis siege flat)

A mobile phone found in a bin outside the Bataclan led French police to the hotel appartment in Alfortville where Salah Abdeslam, the suspected "eighth terrorist", is believed to have stayed for the two nights before last Friday's attacks.
It was rented in his name and police found syringes and intubation material inside, which could have been used to make explosives, according to Le Monde.

JMO, but I feel that the syringes and intubation material found inside the hotel apartment prior to Friday's attack were not used to make explosives. Imo, they were used by the terrorists to inject meth or other drugs by the terrorists, giving them the courage to carry out their inhuman brazen acts, as did the Kamikaze suicide pilots during WW11..

Police were called to Hannover's main train station after a man was witnessed leaving a suspect package on an Intercity train. A woman saw the man put the package on the overhead shelf and later leave without it. She called after him that he had forgotten his package but instead of stopping he fled.
Bomb disposal experts were called after a police sniffer dog detected explosives in the package but determined it was an expertly made dummy

At least two people have been killed during a major police operation targeting the alleged mastermind of Friday&#8217;s terror attacks in Paris, police and judicial sources have said.
Police sources said a man wanted in connection with the bloody series of suicide bombings and shootings was shot dead by a police sniper during the raid, while the Paris public prosecutor confirmed that a woman had blown herself up by detonating an explosive belt.
There were unconfirmed reports that there may be a third person inside the apartment building on the rue de Corbillon in St-Denis, a town just north of Paris, where police launched the operation at about 4.30am.
The Paris prosecutor, François Molins, also said three men who were inside the apartment had been arrested.

More news on that police dog who died in the raid earlier today - seven-year-old Diesel was killed when the woman detonated her suicide vest.
"It's a little like losing one our colleagues," one police handler is reported to have said.

The person who spoke before about the mixed group of attackers arriving the day before to stay at his friends rented out apartment, now, he says his friend who rented out the apartment has been taken in for questioning.

There was a loud noise, not as loud as the previous explosion. We don't believe it was an explosion.

Have been heard in the last couple of minutes. Forensic teams seem to be on the scene too.

Police are asking people to stay away from their windows, as a precaution, in the immediate area.

It outlines how he had followed a common path from pot-smoking teenager to hardliner who alarmed his teachers with denunciations of Charlie Hebdo. ( who reported him as posted previously)
&#8226; In Syria, he spoke to his mother by phone and tried to persuade her to join him in the creation of an Islamic state. In an argument with his brother, he said: "Do not shout, it's my decision. In this country, I do not have my place. " He appeared to be being supervised on the phone. The mother did not report him to the police, apparently for fear to discouraging his return home.
&#8226; The family home was raided by terror police in March and Bilal placed on a terrorist watchlist. The mother claims she didn&#8217;t hear from him for three months prior to the attacks as he dropped off the radar.

Seven people now held by police after St-Denis raid

Police have now arrested seven people in the Paris suburb where the operation has been ongoing this morning, according to Associated Press.

A senior police official and the Paris prosecutor’s office say that the seven were arrested in the building, though we only know of three who were actually in the apartment. They did not identify those detained.

Journalists on the scene reported a loud bang from the street where the raid is ongoing, minutes before the most recent arrests.

Putin sets up commission to combat terrorism financing

Nov 18 Russia's President Vladimir Putin has set up a new interdepartmental commission to combat terrorism financing, the Kremlin said on Wednesday.

In a decree, Putin ordered the prosecutor general's office, the central bank and regional authorities to submit any information they may have on terrorist activities.

Reuters are also reporting that the terror cell which police are raiding in Saint-Denis had planned an attack in La Défense, the commercial area of Paris.

St Denis is an area also popular with film makers and media companies. Interesting opinions from one of them who was there during the dawn siege, comments on amount of stored weapons and dealers (presume drugs not arms!) in this area.

Caroline Chomienne, who runs a film school, Altermedia, in St Denis, was trapped in the building next to where the assault took place.
'We'd been working all night on a film and my staff had been gone for some time when around 4.20am I heard shooting. Then they became louder and for on an hour it went on - bursts of fire from all sides but also sounds like bombs going off.
'The walls were shaking it was horrific. It was like war. It was Beirut.'
Now the director is thinking of quitting Paris.
'Something like this doesn't surprise me,' she told Le Parisien, 'that terrorists have hidden here. In this district the cellars are full of weapons. Outside there is a dealer every 100mtrs. It's common knowledge around here that people go and come back from Syria with ease. The past year the atmosphere has been awful in the street...it's very hard.'
Since the school was established in 1996 in the centre of Saint-Denis, the area has deteriorated added Caroline.
'At first there was a real mix here, but in recent years people have just been leaving and the handful of young couples who arrive are horrified. After this morning I think we'll have to leave. I don't know if anyone will even come in to work today', she said.

What IS the ISLAMIC STATE?

After seeing the horrors, reading everything posted here and everywhere else, I decided to find out for myself and not take the word of the talking heads, politicians included. So far, here's what I came up with, even though it is an older article and some of the people mentioned may be dead:

We can gather that their state rejects peace as a matter of principle; that it hungers for genocide; that its religious views make it constitutionally incapable of certain types of change, even if that change might ensure its survival; and that it considers itself a harbinger of&#8212;and headline player in&#8212;the imminent end of the world.

Even though some big players in our gov't refer to these people/movement as"not Islamic; al-Qaeda&#8217;s &#8220;jayvee team; and now DAESH , that does not make their goals and beliefs any less dangerous or deadly. In fact, I BELIEVE "DAESH" is nothing but a name to cover the fact this movement IS Islamic, certainly not representing ALL Muslims, but surely a segment. It seems TO ME someone wants to cover that fact much like a cat on a hot tin roof.

I realize this one older article, while very informative, is not the ultimate source of information on IS, ISIS, or DAESH, if one can actually separate them, but to me it is a good start.

The Paris prosecutor's office said in a statement that three suspects were arrested by SWAT teams in an apartment in the northern suburb of Saint-Denis, while two others were detained nearby. The statement did not identify the arrested suspects or the two who died, and it was not immediately clear where the two most recent arrests occurred. As police declared the raid over, shortly after 11:30 a.m. local time, at least one other person was still inside the apartment, though it was not clear whether that person was dead or alive.

"Then there was second big explosion. Then two more explosions. There was an hour of gunfire," said Baptiste Marie, a 26-year-old independent journalist who lives in the neighborhood.

They just talked to a reporter on Fox News, Greg Palkot, and he said the attacks on the church may have been misreported. He was standing a few feet away from the church in question and the tower bell was clanging in the background. He wasn't sure where that report originated from.

"We could see bullets flying and laser beams out of the window. There were explosions. You could feel the whole building shake," said Sabrine, a downstairs neighbor from the apartment where at least one gunman was still believed to be holed up.

She told Europe 1 radio that she heard the people in the flat above talking to each other, running around and reloading their guns.

"I tried to hide my son beneath me but each time there was shooting he was clawing at my skin," she said, adding that police eventually managed to get them to safety.

Turkish police detained eight suspected members of the Isil, state media said, adding they were planning to sneak into Europe posing as refugees.

Counter-terror police detained the suspects in Istanbul's Ataturk Airport after they flew in from the Moroccan city of Casablanca yesterday, the official Anatolia news agency reported.

The police found a hand-written note on one of the suspects detailing a migration route from Istanbul to Germany via Greece, Serbia and Hungary, including smuggler boats across the Mediterranean Sea, as well as several train and bus journeys.
