Spain - Lisa Brown, 32, San Roque, 4 Nov 2015 *Arrest*

Jackson, 51, a sailor, was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison for smuggling 17 migrants into a marina near Chichester, West Sussex. He pleaded guilty to assisting unlawful immigration by sailing a boat carrying Albanian men aged between 20 and 44 into the marina on 23 May.

In Lewes, the court was told that Jackson had been issued with a European arrest warrant for allegedly perverting the course of justice in connection with a murder in Spain.

The case reportedly relates to the disappearance of 32-year-old Lisa Brown, from Alexandria in West Dunbartonshire, who was last seen in November 2015.

I guess Spanish police won't get their hands on him for a couple of years.

Report from Spain confirming SJ will have to serve his sentence in the UK before he is extradited.

He is expected to go to extradition trial next month. However, he will not be extradited to Spain until he has completed his prison sentence in the UK.

Assistant Director David Fairclough, from Immigration Enforcement Criminal Investigations, said that Jackson was ‘at the centre’ of an organised people smuggling gang.

People smuggler Stephen Jackson 'desperate' to speak to Spanish police according to his lawyer.

“Stephen went to the authorities in San Roque voluntarily after Lisa disappeared to tell them everything he knew,” Long said.

“He gave them information on Corner and those connected to him. As far as he was concerned the police were done with him.”

He added: “Stephen would welcome the opportunity to be eliminated from their enquiries as soon as possible. He remains completely unaware of the reasons for the extradition request.

“At the moment, the investigation cannot move forward until Stephen’s release: the last thing we want is for the investigation to grind to a halt.”

Long, from Edward Hayes law firm in London, has now written to the Crown Prosecution Service in the UK to request a Guardia Civil representative contacts him to arrange an interview with Jackson in the UK.

Police searching for British mother who vanished after ‘violent episode’ with boyfriend send ‘items’ to forensic experts after digging up land near her home in Spain

Police hunting for the body of missing British mother Lisa Brown have launched a major new search on ground near her home.

Around 20 Civil Guard officers took part in the operation after calling in council diggers to act on new information they had received as part of their ongoing inquiry.

Detectives confirmed last night they had not found the Scottish mum-of-one's remains, but had located objects they have passed on to forensic experts to analyse so they can determine if they are Lisa's.

The exact nature of the objects taken away has not been revealed.

A THIRD British man arrested over missing expat Lisa Brown has fled to Portugal on his grandson’s boat, it can be revealed.

The Olive Press has spoken to the Welsh pensioner, who confirmed that he was currently ‘living in a Portuguese port’, but refused to give further details.

Ron Beasley, 71, confirmed he had broken his bail conditions, which required him to report to San Roque police every day, but had been forced to leave Spain to escape the clutches of the ‘Costa del Sol drug mafia’.

However, he insisted he is entirely innocent and was wrongly dragged into the investigation over missing Brown, who mysteriously vanished November 4, 2015.

"She's been murdered. We don't know why, and we don't know how. The 'how' is probably too painful to hear and I don't know if we'll ever hear the why.

Ms Brown's family do not believe this smuggling trade is the reason for her disappearance but they think it may be fostering a wall of silence around her fate.

Her brother stated: "For some of them to say they're yacht dealers and stuff... I think a lot of people will make their own minds up about that.

"[These are] people who are involved in people smuggling who claim they are forced to do it... I don't think people are foolish enough to believe that."

A SUSPECT in the Lisa Brown case has been found adrift in the Atlantic.

71-year-old Ron Beasley, from Wales, was found drifting 200 miles off the coast of Portugal.

The sailor, who has a wooden leg, was said to be so disoriented he was unable to recall his name when an Italian catamaran crew came across his shipwrecked yacht, the Doolou.

His ship was drifting without electricity or engine power in a busy shipping path and was at risk of being mowed down by a freighter.

Beasley told his rescuers that he was on the run from gangsters. When they asked him if he required assistance, he said: “No radio, no engine, no electricity.”

It was the 2 year anniversary of Lisa's disappearance on Saturday.

“The people that could end our nightmare are still living and working in this community and if this happened to them I’m very sure they would also want everyone’s help,” she told the Olive Press.

“They have had TWO years to come forward with information and haven’t, we hope this keeps them awake at night knowing what they know.

“Their silence won’t stop us in seeking justice for lisa.”

The family continue to investigate the case while Spanish authorities have insisted it is very much open and ongoing.

Thankyou Legally Bland for keeping this thread up to date. I'm sure to all of us it's pretty obvious what has happened, I hope Lisa's family gets some closure soon.

A warrant has been issued for Simon Corner, 36, who was freed on bail over the suspected murder of Lisa Brown.

It is understood he broke his bail conditions last month by failing to sign in at a Spanish police station.

...

Last April, he was released from prison on bail. It’s understood Corner had to sign in at a police station twice a month and surrender his passport. He posted £8365 in bail and was banned from leaving Spain.

Lisa’s brother, Craig Douglas, said the vanishing act proved Corner should not have been granted bail.

Craig, 48, also from Alexandria, told the Record: “This is someone with access to boats so taking away his passport won’t necessarily stop him leaving the country.
