I'm not sure how others feel about this: But IMO, in the case of a possible or likely murder, cremation should not be an option. What if in the future new evidence comes up and exhuming the remains for further testing could lead to answers.

Also, with all of the donations...why go with the cheaper service: cremation?

Just to add another take here...sometimes cremation is done simply because it is in the family belief system or the wishes of the deceased. My sister was adamant that she wanted to be cremated and scattered.

With them waiting on the toxicology report to help determine cause of death, does that mean that there were no visible signs of trauma?

I imagine it would be very difficult to tell on a corpse 4-6 weeks decomposed, even in cold weather. If she was strangled with bare hands, for example, it would be next to impossible to determine that unless there were fractures to her neck bones - bruising, cuts or defensive wounds are hard to determine after even just 3 weeks, as well as rape or sexual trauma (barring any DNA evidence).

To my knowledge, they can still determine some forms of trauma such as fractures not from old injuries, broken finger nails, some kinds of abrasions or stab wounds that have a specific shape or striation compared to natural bursting (sorry for being graphic!!), gun shot wounds, etc.We can probably safely assume she wasn't shot or stabbed.

I truly hope the prosecution is satisfied with the physical evidence. I am shocked she was cremated.

I saw the request upthread for a comparison on what WH said happened vs fact. I had started on that awhile back and never went back to it because I honestly don't think it is useful at this point beyond satisfying curiosity. The only facts we have are:

AJ rewteeted around 10:30PM Mar 1.
Her sister saw her at 7AM Mar 2 when she left for school.
AJ was not at the house at 2:30 when her sister returned from school. Her wallet and truck were still at the house, but a small bag/sling pack was missing.
She sent a text message to AJ and AJ's phone replied with "with friends (thumbsup)"
AJ's phone sent a text message to her mother (JH) between 4:30AM and 5:30AM Mar 3." I'm OK, just not ready to come home yet"
Friends are already concerned and looking for AJ 3:15pm on Mar 3 (see Twitter)
AJ is reported missing by JH on Mar 3 at 9:15PM
Pieces of her debit card were found on Mar 5/6.
WH broke into CF's house (reported Mar 6th), punched his dog, and allegedly planted AJ's Longwood jacket in CF's bedroom closet. **We do not have confirmation from police that they have this jacket.**
Clothes that may be AJ's were found by WH in Chesapeake and police conducted a search on Mar. 19. He was arrested the next day and charged with 6 felonies and a misdemeanor.
Police searched a pond in IoW and asked neighbors about WH's work van, which they did claim to have seen in the area.
AJ's remains were found in Franklin on April 9.
WH was working in Franklin the week AJ went missing.

Not a single other thing WH has said has been verified by LE to VIs or the public.

If you are new to the case, I recommend you not focus too much on the detail in what WH says, but instead focus on his body language and the statements in the transcriptions, especially if you are just looking for justification on why we think he is a liar.

The one true thing he has said, for certain:
"things happened that I couldn't control"

Not necessarily. It means they haven't commented on that yet. Waiting on the tox to come back seems to me they're just being 100% thorough before saying anything.

I disagree. I went to the funeral of a teen girl that I did not know. She was in a car accident---her car was hit head on by a drunk driver on the Pacific Coast Highway/

She went to my kids high school and my kids knew her but I had never met her. They had the memorial service at the school gymnasium and it was totally packed and overflowing. Her father, who survived the crash, and her boyfriend, who was paralyzed in the crash, were incredulous about how many showed up in her honor. No one was concerned about who had met her previously and who hadn't. :candle:

Escorting your kids to a funeral of someone they knew is not, imo, the same as going to the funeral of someone none of you knew prior to the news story.

I am adamant about my remains being cremated. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

I believe that is a map from Norfolk to Longwood University, if that's what you are talking about.

It is indeed a map from school to home, and the context of the conversation she was having with a friend makes it even more clear.

Not new to reading the case, just don't post often.

If she was shot in the head for example, the remains would have clearly shown that she had been shot,

In most cases they release information such as blunt force trauma, in this case they are awaiting toxicology reports.

I don`t get the impression that AJ was a drug user,

To be honest I'm still on the fence as to how much JH knows about what happened to AJ, I certainly don't want to think that the grieving mother is hiding anything, but she wouldn't be the first mother. JH was the one who brought WH into AJ's life, and from what I have seen of WH he is a loose canon, probably always has been.

I cant see the whole conversation for some reason. I will work on that. I was wrong but it has worried me and Thank yall for helping me out.

OH Dear GOD let us know for sure what happened to AJ soon. Amen

She was 18 years old, and recently living in an environment where drug use was prevalent. Things can change. Unfortunately.

The ME can't formally complete the autopsy report without toxicology. This is standard, even if it's apparent she died of gunshot, stabbing, or strangulation. 4-6 weeks is a normal range of time for this to be done. They don't need AJ's actual body to do any more investigation, it's been painstakingly photographed, videotaped, etc.

"Four to six weeks is pretty standard," Magnani says of the time line for forensic toxicology testing. Besides the time needed for painstaking analysis and confirmation, she says, there could be a backlog of tests that need to be done at a particular laboratory.

I was about to say the exact same thing. Even though everything about AJ's life says "successful athlete and serious about her academics" she certainly wasn't immune to the reality of her surroundings. TONS of young people just as dedicated to school and sports as AJ was end up using drugs, for a hundred different reasons. It's not a pleasant thought but it's reality. That said, I do believe a tox is standard in autopsies where a suspicious death occurred.

Sad, but very true. My best friend's son was raised in the best environment you could possibly imagine. She put everything into that kid, and her dedication showed. He respected the law, respected his elders, was athletic, attended church, did very well in school, addressed everyone as "ma'am" or "sir"...just a wonderful young man. He met a girl, got caught up in drugs, and ended up pulling an armed robbery on a bank. There wasn't a person who knew this kid that wasn't absolutely shocked. No one had the first clue what was going on with him...not his mother, not his family, not the close friends he had grown up with, despite the fact that they were all very involved in his life.

NEVER assume it can't happen to the best and brightest, because sadly, it can and it does.

Tox can also help determine if a chemical compound was used to accelerate decomposition, such as fertilizer.

Btw: When a contractor such as Wes clocks out for lunch at whatever time. It doesn't mean that they are leaving the office. Just like a cable guy. They usually clock out via 2 way radio to the dispatcher from whatever location they are at. So he could have been anywhere when he supposedly clocked out. Maybe he called the client early and said he would be late because he needed to get a special part without letting his boss know. Jmo.

^ This. Now we just wait for the tox results. Honestly, I hope they're clean as a whistle but even if they're not, AJ was still a shining star in my opinion, especially considering where/what she came from.

Due to being at work all day yesterday I missed the "roll call" but did see it was said we can post when we get the chance so I will go ahead and add mine. Zach , brenchen and your family and to all of you who's hearts have been touched by AJ (mine sure was touched just by following this case) my thoughts and prayers are with all of you and weighed heavy on my mind yesterday and continue to be with you all during this difficult time. AJ has touched so many of us by being who she is and I believe her name will live on an keep shining just like that beautiful smile of hers! - Ashley from Hampton Roads , VA.

Unfortunately I know lots about the drug world, the county that I'm from in Ontario is/was known as the meth capitol of the province of Ontario, I watched many a young and old go down, people that you wouldn't even suspect would get involved. The young kids some from really good homes, total mess. I thank god everyday that my kids never got involved,

When I think of going down the drug path, then I have to wonder if JH didn't find AJ overdosed and called WH to come help. Out of shame or what ever instead of calling 911 they placed her where they thought she would be safe, until they could bury her somewhere else. Or did AJ and WH fight over the last hit he pushes her, she hits her head. Or did either WH or JH catch AJ doing drugs and a fight happened. If she was involved in the drug scene at school, why come home for break. Then I think of the $200, and I get a headache.

I don't want to think that AJ was going down that road, I want to believe that she had seen what WH was and wanted to better herself, that is why she was in college, I want to believe that she was strong, that she wanted to succeed in life.

I work for an exterminating co. We have a fleet that the technicians keep their vehicles 24/7 because we don't have a lot for nightly storage. In return our techs CANNOT use vehicles after hours. They are tracked all of the time VIA GPS. I wonder if WH company has similar set up? Its fairly common.

Edited to add: none of the techs are aware of this software, and they get caught all of the time not being where they are supposed to be.

That was beautiful. Thank you. I second this emotion and add for Zach.... *hugs*
