And so much of the crime that occurs on cruise ships is never reported, same with many accidents and illnesses. Primarily because most cruise lines have their ships registered in other countries.

Back to Dominican Republic resorts, based on the symptoms, it seems to have been airborne, inhaled agent? Or possibly transmitted via skin contact? It almost sounds like the symptoms of some sort of insecticide or rat poison.

A Maryland woman said that three American tourists dying at a Dominican Republic resort has her questioning the circumstances of her husband’s death in that country.

Dawn McCoy said she does not believe it’s a coincidence that her husband died in 2018 of pulmonary edema and a heart attack — much like the three Grand Bahía Príncipe resort guests who died within a week of each other, news station WTOP reported.


“I started seeing all these other people that were dying of the same exact causes, which made me start to second guess,” McCoy told the news station.

For her wedding anniversary, she visited the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana last July along with her husband, David Harrison, and son.

She said her husband started feeling sick one night before he went to bed. He later woke up in the middle of the night covered in sweat.

“He couldn’t sit up, and he was making noises that you couldn’t make out,” McCoy said.

She said she tried to talk to him “but all he could do was mumble.”

“He was struggling quite a bit to get out of bed and to talk,” she said.

McCoy called the hotel doctor to the room but her husband didn’t survive.

If the symptoms didn't start until a day later then it definitely wasn't any sort of strong acid or base that you'd find in a household cleaner like bleach, which would cause an immediate reaction.

Well, they've manipulated me all right, I've been convinced I go there at my own risk and if something happens I was doing drugs, had a heart attack or was lying. I personally don’t understand the deny, cover up, blame the victims approach that is going on. I have never been to DR, no plans to go, but i’d Be more inclined to consider in the future if they would just be upfront on what has happened and correct the problem. Crimes and accidents can happen anywhere on any vacation wether in the U.S. or abroad. But IMO if you don’t admit to wrong doing and you don’t correct the problem you are asking people to take a risk to continue to visit your beautiful country. There r far too many other beautiful vacation spots for people to take that risk. The result is ultimately the exact opposite of what they r hoping to accomplish and killing their tourism industry and economy. JMO

There are plenty of beautiful vacation spots right here in the US. It’s not worth risking your life, not to mention the vulnerability when traveling in a third world country.

Umm the U.S. vacation spots are not immune to crime. VA beach and Vegas both recently had mass shootings. Both popular vacation spots. We certainly have our fare share of drinks being spiked, assaults, robberies, violence, etc. wherever u go in the U.S.

On Friday, a Colorado couple told CNN they are suing the resort the Grand Bahia Principe La Romana resort, where Day and Holmes stayed, after falling ill last June. Kaylynn Knull, 29, and her boyfriend Tom Schwander, 33, said they were forced to cut their trip short because they fell seriously ill during their stay at the resort. When the couple returned home, still feeling sick, a doctor told the couple they were likely exposed to organophosphates, a chemical typically found in pesticide.

“There’s something going on,” Knull told CNN. “What happened to us may be related to what happened to them.”

Hours after the story, Bahia Principe reiterated that they were cooperating with authorities and their investigation in a statement.

On May 29, Delaware resident Tammy Lawrence-Daley shared a lengthy post on Facebook where she described being assaulted at Majestic Elegance Resort in Punta Cana in January. She alleged in her post that a man dressed in a resort uniform viciously attacked her for hours. Majestic Resorts said in a statementthat authorities are still unclear on what has happened and investigations have revealed “weak points” in Daley’s “strange and unusual” case. The hotel also claims that Daley only took her story publicly after a $2.2 million settlement was denied.

JMO the focus right now on this thread should be on the resort in question and related to at least 3 deaths and possibly 1 other a year ago as well as the Colorado couple who fell ill. Not what may have happened in Punta Cana or elsewhere in the DR and completely unrelated. Otherwise it’s going to get even more confusing than it already is.

It is scary for a business to have these issues because the employees are at risk for losing their jobs. Then there are all of the vendors and who knows what else.

People are very poor and need the work . I imagine the profits from the resort go to some reach people that own it not living in the DR
