NY NY - Corinna Slusser, 19, Queens, 20 Sept 2017

<modsnip - referenced portion of quoted post has been snipped>

Where do the "she prostituted so she could afford plastic surgery" come from?
I know your post is your theory and opinion, but it's not like she needed any type of modifications, anywhere.

Did she mention on social media that was one of her goals or...?

Because if it was, then if she ran, she might not have run for protection and shelter, but more money.
Would make a big difference, I've always though she just wanted to go home when she vanished.

Updated Nov 14 2018 details of disappearance updated.
"In 2017, Slusser dropped out of Bloomsburg Area High School one class short of graduation and moved in with living with friends in her hometown of Bloomington, Pennsylvania. She had been a cheerleader in school and dreamed of becoming a makeup artist. She didn't get along with her mother and hoped to move in with her aunt in Massachusetts in January 2018.

In the summer of 2017, she met a 32-year-old man who called himself "Yhovanny Peguero", who told her he could give her a place to stay in New York City. She traveled to New York in August, taking only her cellular phone and identification; she didn't even take any extra clothes.

After her arrival she kept in touch with her family and friends, contacting them on a near-daily basis. She indicated everything was going well, but after her later disappearance, her family found out she'd been working as a prostitute, advertising on the internet to get clients.

At 1:00 a.m. August 25, Slusser called 911 from the Harlem Vista Hotel in Manhattan and said Peguero, a man whom she identified as her pimp and called "daddy", had stolen $300 from her and that when she confronted him, he grabbed her by the throat, choked her and slammed her against the wall. When police arrived at the scene, she was still very upset, shaking and crying.

Peguero was arrested and charged with harassment, third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. A temporary order of protection against him was issued by the court on Slusser's behalf. When her family in Pennsylvania found out about the attack, she downplayed it and told them there was nothing to worry about.

In September, Slusser's grandfather died, and Slusser agreed to go to his funeral in Florida, but a day later she called her mother and said her Social Security card and driver's license had been stolen and so she couldn't fly. She did, however, want to return home to Pennsylvania.

Slusser's mother went to Florida for the funeral on September 19, and Slusser was supposed to arrive home in Pennsylvania the next day, but her mother wasn't able to get in touch with her, and upon her return, she found out Slusser had ever arrived in Pennsylvania. Her mother reported her missing.

Although Slusser's family last heard from her on September 9, according to her family, she was last seen in the early morning hours of September 20, eleven days later, leaving the Haven Motel on Woodhaven Boulevard by 68th Avenue in the Rego Park neighborhood of Queens. Slusser had been very active on social media prior to her disappearance, but after September 20 all her posts stopped completely.

Authorities learned that Yhovanny Peguero's real name is Ishi Woney. In November 2018, he was charged with sex trafficking another woman, identified only as Victim 1.

The prosecution alleges that between September 2017 and November 2018, Woney used coercion, force and fraud to force Victim 1 to engage in sex acts for money, and brought her to different states, including New York, for this purpose. He also bought online ads promoting prostitution, some of which featured Slusser alongside Victim 1 and offered a "two girl special."

Between September 10 and September 20, the day Slusser disappeared, she exchanged over 800 text messages with Woney. They reportedly had an argument on September 20, because Victim 1 was upset about his relationship with Slusser. Woney said he would take Slusser to another hotel and give her to another man. She was never seen again.

A photo of Woney is posted with this case summary. He faces five years to life in prison if convicted of the charges against him.

Slusser's disappearance remains unsolved."

Or perhaps they are defending him because of the abuse they have endured, as in they are too scared to tell the truth (I do think at least one of them knows or has a good idea as to what happened to Corinna).

That may be the biggest challenge for LE in solving the case: to get them to talk. Or if the girls were to have a pretty serious falling out either with Ishi or among themselves, that might help, too.

That is not necessary true, the relationship between sex workers and their pimp are not exactly like you see on TV news: like scary violent pimps and frighten, naive, innocent little girls. It is much much more complicate. In the case, it was entirely possible that Woney was not their first pimp, and had nothing to do with "forcing" or "luring" them into the sex industry and it was their own decision to stay in the sex industry, and their relationship was no more than typical pimp-sex worker relationship: pimp needs his girls to bring him money, the girls need their pimp to provide protection and other services to make their life on the street, at some degree at least, little bit easier and safer.
Thus you must understand that, from the perspective of a street girl, this is a normal life they live, and having a pimp is just part of that life, unless he is some kind of brute, they would not see him a very bad person, and that is the main reason why sex workers would defend their pimps

That makes me very sad but also makes sense in that it is basically a business arrangement, and for the women, a means of survival.

When I read that “No later than on or about September 20, 2017, WONEY had a falling-out with Victim-2 [Corinna] because Victim-1 was jealous of WONEY’s relationship with Victim-2” in government’s complaint, I -naively- assumed that Victim-1 was enamored of Woney, became resentful of Corinna as Woney was now giving her more and more attention (“(b)eteeen on or about September 10, 2017, and on or about September 20, 2017 ((that is, prior to Victim-2’s disappearance)),” there were 806 text messages exchanged between Corinna’s and Ishi’s phones) and somehow triggered a fight between Corinna and Woney.

But if the relationship between V-1 and Woney was strictly business, why would she be jealous of his relationship with Corinna? Or do you think all of this is just a story they made up to cover up something sinister that might have happened that day?

Also, do you think the timing of Corinna’s disappearance is significant? It doesn’t seem like a coincidence that she was last seen the very day she was supposed to return to PA.

We don't know whether the relationship between V-1 and Woney was strictly business, pimp did sleep with their girls and show favorite, and besides V-1 not necessary was jealous of his relationship with Corinna, there is usually sense of rank and seniority among girls, if Woney directed more clients to Corinna, (let us be not PC for a moment, young white girl eared more than black girl on the street), I can see V-1 would flip out.
Are you sure Corinna was last seen the very day she was supposed to return to PA ? I don't recall I read it anywhere.

the term is "bottom b word". I can totally see V-1 angry over what you said.

Yeah, most pimps and sex workers do not live a life like Julia Roberts in that silly movie, this life is not pretty at all, the worst part is, the longer these girls stayed in this industry, the more difficult for them to come back to live a normal life, then only a matter of time, their youth and look gone, what will happen to them then ?

I have a problem understanding the business arrangement between a pimp & his girls. He provides protection & in return gets the money. What's in it for the girls?

Pimp gets a cut from the money the girls earned, not all money. Besides providing protection, a pimp need to be act as sex worker's agent and manager, he needs to find clients and business opportunities, manage girl's personal affair and bail them out from all kind of troubles, I hate to say it, but this is not an easy job

I have enough for these armchair bourgeoisie, sex industry is a very complex social and economical problem in our society, why do they have to simplify it to as some kind of modern slavery? I guess in their elite ivy league schools mind, any suggestion that women would work in sex industry on their free will would be so uncomfortable and so not PC that they decided better not mention it at all. So they may create some good TV programs for the their fellow bourgeoisie audience, but would offer no help to these poor girls in the industry.
For example you would never heard sex workers in these TV programs said "I work in this industry so that i can buy food, or I can stay one more day in that motel room", or "I need money to buy beer and drugs", or "I used to work in a low pay boring dead end job, so I decided to work escort so that I can have lot of money to buy all kind of nice things", or "my family used to ignore me, now I have money to buy them lot of gifts, they all love me now" etc. etc. I mean if you do not face this problem, how can you help these girls to leave this industry and have a good normal life?

This was my comments at Charley project

Corinna Paige Slusser’s case, you stated “Authorities learned that Yhovanny Peguero’s real name is Ishi Woney.” I wonder what is your source? I found their old criminal records Ishi Woney (Ishi Woney Mugshot and Arrest or Citaton Record - Queens County) and Yhovanny Peguero (Yhovanny Peguero Mugshot and Arrest or Citaton Record - New York County), according to these records, Ishi Woney was born in 1995 and Yhovanny Peguero was born in 1985
